[News] What If Bill Belichick Had Been Ravens' First Head Coach?

22 posts in this topic

I have a feeling we will lose this game in a very heartbreaking fashion. One of those games where we play our hearts out, but still end up falling short. It will be a tough, physical game, but I just keep envisioning Julian Edelman catching that last TD pass to seal the win. We need to play very physical in this game. Especially against Bennett. This envision I have is liable to change in the upcoming days leading to Sunday. I will let you guys know what's what on Saturday night...Stay tuned.

Aww, now don't be like that. I'm doing every Mojo thing I can do to help us with this game and you go and say something like that. We almost always play NE hard and with no Gronk or Amendola playing and NE's shaky depth at WR, I believe we have a great chance to pull this one out.

That feeling I share only because of the refs and the almost consistent screw ups at Gillette Stadium, like the head sets going out or the time clock mistakes, only when we have the ball incidentally. I don't think we will be outplayed on the field and I believe we are the better team. The Patriots are soft and I agree that if we play physical, we win this game. It is the intangibles that we can't control that do worry me up in New England. Hopefully, we open up such a lead that even with the refs help Brady can't come back and pull out a heart breaking win.

they did miss out on a good coach, but people must consider he is great because of those around him and he did luck out on getting BRADY,if BLEDSOE didn't get his lung collapes but just another smaller injury,BRADY would more than likely been traded in a year or two,he's a good coach at making ajustments from quarter to quarter,he gets players that are versital as well.so they can ajust on the fly,we do to and HARB'S is in the same mold, but because FLACCO is not as smart as brady at being able to change from series to series we could never be a great as the PATS.the one thing that BRADY has mastered is the quick release, short, intermediate passing game without making mistakes,we do the same, but for some reason we go three and out alot more than brady or even ALEX SMITH,same type of players.quick, methotical 9-11 play drives without a mistake,we make mistakes with penalties, you saw sunday what we can be,because we limited the penalties that were drive killers.plus to have a qb that can change the play to a run or pass based on what he sees at the line is crucial to this style of west coast offense.the uptempo has helped FLACCO because of the fact that he can just go with the play called and the defense doesn't have time to change formations or personel.even if we had BELICHECK,it wouldn't change us much.

Speculating only, I would say as good a coach as Bellicheck is, his personality may not have been as good a fit for Baltimore team culture. Players and coaches here seem to be very open and warm, not that BB cannot be, but he is a tight lipped, all business all the time type (from what is revealed to the outside public).

Well at least Flacco is not a cheater. So how smart do you think Brady is? He got caught. I'll take Flacco thank you very much!

Although I dislike his team more so than the Steelers and Bengals, I respect his system. He could have Flo from Progressive as a punter and she would succeed. If he was the original hire,he would have a say in who is the QB and his system would work.

Will Bellichick have to resort to halfback options passes and non-eligible receivers to beat us again? At least the non-eligible receiver rule got changed. (probably the same will happen to holding on game ending safeties).

I'm a big fan of Bill Bellichick back when he was a DC for the giants! And when he came to Cleveland I was the happiest man on earth! He and Art bumped heads and when he didn't become coach of the Ravens I was very very upset! Still got the last team picture of the Browns with him as head coach! The man is a Genius! But WE THE BEST!

With no Gronk and this D it wouldn't surprise me if they take the field with 9 guys then have two a guards come on after the snap 50 yards downfield to catch a pass thrown by the center. Probably get away with it too.

You wonder why Art Model can't get into the hall of fame? He fired Paul Brown and Bill Belichick. Belichick is quite possibly the best all around football guy ever. Ozzie learned from him. No doubt that if he had come to Baltimore and stayed, 4 Super Bowls would have been within reach by now.
However with that said, I despise the Patriots.

We all love Flacco but Brady I the greatest ever, don't let your hate make you look stupid. You know in your heart you would prefer Brady over Flacco. That said you play the cards your dealt, and I love our Ravens history however brief it has been.

I know there is no Gronk this week but, they are undefeated this year without Gronk playing, the two losses occurred with him playing and one was a shutout by the Bills who we are hoping defeat the Steelers this week. This game scares me in that this will be Youngs greatest test of the year covering Edelman in the slot. If he is up to it we will win a tight one, if not it will be a long day and probably a wrong sided blowout.

BB is a master tactician. With that said I believe that NE is only successful because of both he and Brady. Neither would have accomplished what they have without the other.

Would I have wanted BB here? I would say no in hindsight as I can't have respect for some one who cheats or bends the rules in his favor to get an advantage.

Well, everyone loves a winner when he's on your side. Belicheater might have been no better ethically here than in New England. The thought raises some intersting questions:
1) Would his cheating have hurt his popularity with Baltimore fans who seem to value fair play even if it meant 2 more Super Bowls under our belt?
2) Had he been our coach what would that mean for Ozzie since Bill now acts as the Pats GM as well?
3) Would the team even resemble itself now? Would Tom Brady be here? Would Flacco? What would Flacco look like under Bill's coaching?

With Bellichek as HC the team would look entirely different. Penalties would be minimized as he doesn't stay with players who are repeat penalizers. His maverick decisions on players and coaches is legendary. His goal in each game is to name his opponents weakness' and strengths and go after both. Seems simple but he is the master at it. As far as the cheating goes I believe he is guilty no more than the rest, just got caught more often.

to me and alot of others TED MARCHIBRODA was an OFFENSIVE genus that was DON SHULAS O/C and led our team to alot of great offensive performances and led the NFL in yards,he was overlooked in terms of success because our defense was no good,if we just would of held onto him until we drafted our greats on defense,we would of had atleast 2 more SUPERBOWL ring's and trophy's in the CASTLE lobby.
