The one thing that concerns me is if the weather is not good and we have to rely on the run. Do we have enough power to win that way? I'm not sure where the Pats stand against the run. Anyone help me?

They rank #10 but in the last three games they were third.

Why was Suggs in the last play of the game?

"veteran defender Terrell Suggs wasn’t interested in coming out of the game early"

They are ready to get it handed to them mainly by way of the T West Express. Dixon will juke them outta their pants. With this current TE unit the run will not be an issue.

I think bad weather gives us an advantage because Joe Flacco has the arm to zip passes through heavy winds, and rain doesn't really affect him either. Most teams don't have a qb win an arm like Joe's, and if our opponent has to rely on the run, that plays right into the hands of our defense.

I was wondering why SSS was still in after Flacco went out.

Gotta love the way Suggs has been leading by example even playing through the biceps injury. He smells opportunity knocking and this team has a real shot, without any major setbacks.

And?????  Sometimes you have to protect a player from himself.  Especially since he's playing with an injured bicep.

"IF" he would have got injured on that last series, EVERYONE would be screaming why was he playing at that point of the game.

if you look at the routes all 3 WRs are running in the one where SSS gets the ball, they all are running toward each other. Who designs these plays? If the two WRs on the right side would have went deep SSS would have gotten a lot more yrds.

The play is designed to attack the middle of the defense - behind the LB, in front of the Safeties. You can't send 1 guy deep, 1 guy short and 1 guy in the middle- it's too easy to defend. So, some plays are designed to "flood" an area of the field. It works really well against zone coverage. If the two WRs on the right side went deep, the LB would have moved over to cover SSS (instead of worrying about the WRs coming across the field) and it would probably be an INT. That play is not designed to get 40 yards - I think the 25 yards it got was exactly what it was supposed to get.

Re-signing Williams should IMHO be as high of a priority as re-signing Flacco was after our SB run. From the top of my head, I cannot think of another defensive player who makes teammate around him look so good as B.Williams does.

Dolphins had to block him with 4 players at times. First, that allowed LBs to make pretty much open field tackles on RB at the freaking line of scrimmage! LBs are drooling over these opportunities. Second, it left pass rushers on one-on-one blocks coming from the edge. Guys like Suggs and Doom nearly never get opportunities like that otherwise. Lastly, thanks to the havoc wrecked by the front seven, defensive backfield had a blast defending the panic-passes QB was able to get off of his hand.

I’m pretty sure that without Williams, Orr would not look half as impressive starter as he currently does, Suggs and Doom would be overwhelmed by double teams they’d be getting, rest of the pass rush department would be invisible, and the DBs would be exposed and shredded like they have been for past couple of seasons without pressure up front.

So dear FO, can we please please please do EVERYTHING we can do keep Williams?? I envision our defense being in the TOP5 for many years to come with Williams behemothing up front alongside Jernigan, Pierce, Davis and out of the TOP10 without him.

I actually think I haven’t wanted anyone to be re-signed as badly as I want them to re-sign Williams. My Christmas wish right there.

I think this What You Missed segment has been one of my favorite reads all season.

-Suggs has far exceeded my expectations of him after tearing his biceps, he's played incredibly well!  But on that play it's a bit of a stretch to say he blew past LT- B.Albert. A.Levine is lined up over Albert, while Suggs is out wide over the TE's outside shoulder, Suggs dominates and manhandles the TE, meanwhile B.Albert is left searching for someone to touch after Levine dropped off into zone coverage.

Flacco was definitely on point versus the dolphins, it was great to see passes throw to WRs in stride where they could catch it and create yards after the catch.

Zuttah had his best game of the season by far.

Ravens have a lot going for them in this Monday night game. Their fully staffed, there's lots of tape on New England, they have a extra day to get ready, and there is no room to lose. Whats scary is: Miami game a fluke? Will the penalties decrease? Can they protect Joe? i.e block,

As far as Suggs and SSS playing late in the game, there are incentives in every contract for snaps, tackles, sacks, hits on QB, INTs, catches, etc... You can't protect a player from himself when he is out there trying to make money. If you tell them to sit down it looks like the organization is trying to cheat them out of a few bucks. Especially in a game when both sides were playing less than hard towards the end. Besides, the article says Suggs is blowing up Brandon Albert when in reality he actually just beat a tight end (#80).

The article says Suggs Blew BY a tight end, which is saying some at the end of a game against a smaller faster opponent.

Zuttah has been tearing it up this whole season contrary to what many people on here say. He has been graded as one of the top 5 Ravens offensive players in 5 games. This included having the best grade of all Ravens offensive players against the Giants. So I really wouldn't say its his "best game of the season by far" because he has played at a consistently high level for the ENTIRE year.

When the Ravens keep 7 players at the line to block, and Miami only rushes 4, there darn well better be a nice pocket for Joe to settle into.

Well you really don't want to do it too often.  If you have 7 players blocking and Joe sitting in the pocket, that leaves only 3 players running routes.  And if they only rush with 4 than there are 7 guys that are able to cover your 3 receivers.  Very rarely are you going to want keep 7 players protecting the QB

I don't know how we can "miss" these perfectly obvious things. The only way you could miss these things is if you didn't bother watching the game.
