[News] Eisenberg: The Secret To Beating New England Patriots

Won't be surprised to see Flacco kill in Foxboro as he usually does. I just hope Powers/Wright succeed in their match-ups against Brady's weapons Monday.

Secret to beating the Patriots in Foxboro...
1) Stop The Run, priority no.1 defensively just like every game.
2) Shortly after NE figures out Run game wont work, Brady will go to his half step drops to Edelman,Hogan,Amendola etc (skinny slot yac type WRs)
So tight man coverage and strong tackling at the point of catch will be key. Thankfully Tavon Young, Jimmy Smith, Powers, 100x better then last time go round. Thats not even mentioning Weddle impact and improved Webby at safety.
Got a feeling Brady might try and sling it 45x to avoid pressure, and because run D, so tackling will be utmost importance.

Then offensively.. We can score on them I believe. Only reason their D is ranked Ppg tied with us is because they control games offensively, but that defense is swiss cheese

A lot of offense will keep Brady on the sidelines, and a stout defense that won't allow Brady to get into a rhythm, we need 3 and outs..

They should not be able to double team Suggs and Dumervil. That should leave someone free. The Nose-tackle for the Ravens will be key.

After reading the part about Tavon Young, I couldn't help but think what our record would be if he had started in place of Shareece "Burnt Toast" Wright the entire season...

Disrupting Brady may be necessary, but, without scoring points we have no chance. You cannot shut down Tom Brady. What you can do is keep the ball away from him as much as possible. To do that, the Ravens have to play offense like they did last week, not like they did the previous 11 weeks.

We need good play from our secondary to beat the Pats. Brady torches a soft secondary. Preventing the fast scores on long plays is a must. I think we can run the ball on them if our RB's are patient. Don't take any points off the board. Kick the FGs in this one. If we can defeat the Pats we could go all the way.

I think the most awesome thing about this game is we can definitely win it!
5 weeks ago, there was little confidence about that. With no Gronk or Amondola and a weak WR depth, we have a good shot at this one! Our corners are going to have to press at the line of scrimmage to throw off Brady's quick, short passing game and give Suggs and Doom a chance at disrupting Brady's throws. I'm so excited, I think I'd give away 5 days of my life to play this game now!
It would also be nice if we could play them just ONCE in our own stadium!
It really irritates me to no end that NE always seems to have the upper hand with things like that.

Funny that, last week, our passing attack looked a lot like the Patriot's. Lot's of moving parts in this matchup, of course, but Joe has to out-Brady next Monday night.

"Lardarius Webb is stepping up after being challenged by his teammates." WOW that's really sad to here. 8 years in the league. This is were the Matt Elam pick is coming back to hurt the Ravens. I hope after 4 years Matt can play S like he was suppose to do. Weddle is the second most important player Ravens can not lose to injury. If Joe or Weddle goes down season over.

not confident our DB's can stop the NE short passing schemes. Bill likely will run up the yardage and points against the Ravens defense. I don't think our guys are good enough to check the Pats receivers at the line because when they release we don't have LB's that can cover the pass. Hope I'm wrong. The best way to keep the Pats from scoring is giving them poor field position and ball control....don't give them the ball.

Actually,
the key to beating them is to beat them the same way we have in the past.

For all you new Ravens fans, our prior wins against these Pats consisted of our Defense bullying them on every level.
(Remember Pollard's knockout blow in our 2012 playoff game?)
Most teams like to watch the Pats operate. Not us, consider Sizzles mindset when he plays Brady (Not afraid, impressed and pissed off).

They will complete a good deal of short passes, just make them pay every time they catch the ball. Knock Brady down as many times as we can, watch him turn into a diva, he always does. Once that happens, its a wrap.

Bottom line, this game is all about the front 7. Feed off of Sizz and ride the victory. Pats are soft and rely on lots of scheme. Let's remind them how soft they really are. Oh, and by the way, Shareece should only be assigned to zone duty in the flats, outside the red zone.

d-line will have to generate pressure on brady because he will kill us if we rely on the blitz. as i posted yesterday guys like wright powers levine must step up and help cover edelman hogan maxwell bennett and whoever else they throw at us.

Like in the Dolphin game, 4th quarter, they will have to use Urban and Guy and Suggs to knock the ball down at the line of scrimmage or at least change Brady's trajectory on those quick throws.  If they know they can't get to Brady for a sack or pressure, they need to elevate with their arms up to tip the ball to help out the back end.  That will crush their confidence if we can deflect some throws from the line of scrimmage.  Calling on Zadarius Smith, Matt Judon, and Pierce to get some pressure on Brady because Doom and Suggs will be going hard and will need a blow throughout the game.  We can't have any fall off in QB pressure when they have to take a knee.

We can do this RAVENS.....

There is no "secret" for beating the Patriots. The offense is Tom Brady. Stop him by planting him in the turf routinely and you beat the Patriots.

Brady might be missing Gronk, but perhaps you forgot they signed a very productive Martellis Bennett who is having a great year for them. Sure Gronk is Gronk, but Bennett is no slouch and I think overall is a more athletic and versatile TE.

It is clear. Our defensive front has to dominate and get to Brady and put hands on him. They can't just pressure him and not get home. Brady eats up blitzes that don't get home. So that means a lot of guys are gonna have to win their one on one battles.

Elam got in some playing time against Dallas and whiffed on almost every single play he was in for. It is not looking good for him. They didn't tender him his 5th year option and it is pretty safe to say that the Elam era is over in Baltimore starting next season.

I agree that the last few drafts have been a mixed bag. We've whiffed on guys like Upshaw, Kindle, and Elam. The only blessing is that later round picks have panned out for us. Now imagine those drafts if the top picks were legit? We'd be talking about more amazing drafts by Ozzie.

This past draft looks like a mixed bag again. This time our top pick will most likely pan out, but Correa and Kaufusi (2nd and 3rd picks) look like they are potential busts or marginal players. Hard to say that right now, but Kaufusi is old for a rookie and broke his leg, Correa was really struggling in camp and also got hurt.

you just argued against yourself, it is hard to say right now - ill go one step further... its crazy to suggest they are busts when we have seen neither of them play - reports were good on correa but he hasnt shown anything so fair enough but it is year 1 and he was a little undersized coming in, kaufusi may be old but come on it's not like he's coming in as a 32 year old, he broke his leg - we know absolutely nothing about him in terms of effectiveness really... so it's way too early to say

Secret?? Shouldn't be. We've done it several times and we have the defense that can do it again.
First. stop the run. Without Gronk this makes the Pats very predictable: 5-7 quick passes by Brady. So secondly, disrupt these routes by contact at the line and putting LBs in the passing lanes. Then watch Brady get rattled. He is a below average QB in this setting and just Hates being hit....he turns into a real [profanity deleted] (ie..kicking Ed Reed in the AFC CH game).
The other very important key to beating Brady is keep him on the bench for long periods of time. Long sustained scoring drives are essential and the Ravens are very able to do this against the Pats. It goes without saying that turnovers and penalties must be completely eliminated.
Can't wait for Monday night and hope the officials don't rig this game. IMO the Ravens have a better than even money chance to win.

I think you misinterpret hype for reports. It was obvious that Correa couldn't play up to the high standard the Ravens had held him because when Suggs was injured and while Judon was out instead of playing Correa at OLB which is supposedly his primary position, he was on the bench while Zadarius Smith and Matt Judon eclipsed him on the depth chart. He was a spot player at MLB and didn't do much there except drop an interception that was literally right in his hands.

Kaufusi would have been 25 in this rookie year, he will be coming back at age 26 not having played a single NFL snap. The question marks on him were his flexibility and lower body strength (the legs obviously) and he broke his leg.

Even the most die hard fan has to look at this information and wonder just what we have in these guys. I said they were potential busts or possibly marginal players which is certainly not what you expect out of a second round pick, and you hope most third rounders will be decent starters or at least very good depth, not last man on the roster types.
