[News] Lardarius Webb Stepping Up After Getting Challenged

32 posts in this topic

While I have often blasted several Ravens, I have always had a soft spot for Lardarius. He is a good guy, who, through no fault of his own (injuries), is no longer the player he was. I am glad to see him have a good game at safety. We sure need one. That interception was unbelievable. How he held onto the ball after that collision was amazing. Wish him well for the rest of the season and beyond.

glad he has improved his game. we have no room for error the rest of the season with pitt having the easier schedule. we need to go 3-1 and beat pitt again to have a chance.

I always said Webby was the next Ed Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeed! Fielding punts inside the 20yd line for field position like Ed did and now a INT to get it rolling in the secondary! Punt returning skills will benefit when a INT occurs! Bring on them pats!

I second that. He can make up any short comings by being knowledgeable.

I was really worried about Webby earlier this year. I have a large canvas print signed by him in person at a charity event we went to last year and a game jersey my wife had him sign at another charity event later that year that he let us take a selfie with him with it that we ended up spending four times more on the frame for it than the jersey itself so we could put it on our man cave "wall of fame" then all the sudden, he started stinking up the joint. We thought we had jinxed him! I'm so glad he's on track and hope he keeps on trucking with outstanding plays like that INT!

I have been a fan of Webb since I first saw him on the field... I do believe his ceiling at safety is very high. I'm a firm believer that he has a very high football IQ. My only complaint is he is too humble.
This is a tremendous person and talent. Yo Webb, let it shine through. You're holding back something but you don't need too. This position fits you like a fine suit. Become what you can be and have always been - Incredible.
Like when Ed was on the field... you knew everything was possible... and I know you know what Ed did to be that damn good.
Go Ravens!!!

I have loved Webb from day 1. I am so glad to see him put those knee injuries behind him and switch to safety. He has a good football IQ, he just has to fine tune his skill set for the position and he will help make our secondary one of the best in the league with Weddle Jimmy and Tavon.

Webb is washed up... Webb is slow.... Webb is overpaid... Webb is done..
HMMMM... Heard some of that not too long ago.

I have his jersey. He's always been one of my favorite Ravens.

I'll admit I was one of those that mentioned Webb as overpaid for his position, earlier this season. Glad to be proven wrong. Great game Lardarius and keep it going. Would be great to win another SB with you out there playing in the big game. I'll add, he is a very selfless individual who is always willing to move around where ever the team needs him.

Would love to see Webb pick Brady clean once or twice this next game. Bonus points if he takes it to the house.

Whoaw, slow down there champ! It was one pick in one game. Reed did it game in and game out for better part of 10 years. I'm not trying to take anything away from Webb, he had hell of a game. That doesn't put him in the same conversation with Reed though.

From my personal experience, if you dare to say anything critical about anyone from our team on these boards, you're pretty much a critical pessimistic hater who should roll over and die.

analyst steve Mariucci of the nfl network was asked which team that is in the playoffs as of now will end up on the outside looking in at the end of the season. he said the ravens will be out and pitt will win the division. due to the remaining schedule.

That was an awesome pick, very Reed-esque. I haven't been totally happy with his prior performance after the position switch but, Webby seems to be turning it on at the exact time that we need him to. Hope to see him keep it up.

I still wish Reed was available to be signed for one week just to screw with Belichick and Brady.

That pick in the end zone was the interception of the year IMO. Webb went max effort on that play, and that layout catch in traffic was beautiful. Watching in the stadium, I couldn't believe he came up with the catch.

So if fans on here do it it's called critizing and if player does it it's called challenging? Got it.!

It is called challenging when you are a peer of the person you are challenging. You can challenge if you can do it yourself, otherwise, your just a complainer.

How many of you would tolerate someone coming behind you, not knowing your job, and telling you how to do your job, even though you know they don't have a clue about your job and how to do it and what needs to be done. Especially an artist. I can see some of these people on this comments board coming behind Da Vinci and asking "Well, why are the people in the Sistine Chapel naked when its a church?" "You should have used better oils in the "Nativity" and it wouldn't be fading." Would you consider that challenging you to do better, or just a complainer who doesn't have a clue. I would say it was just complainers.

I think that answers your question.

Yeah, that was an awesome play by Webb.  I was really glad to see him make such a big play.  In my opinion, he has gotten a lot of unjust criticism by fans this year.  I think it's because he's been solid, but hasn't made the splashy plays.  Pretty impressive for a defender to make the top 5 catches of the week!

When you’re playing bad it not hard to tell. So we should not have "complained" because were not in the military that Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor? How about we stop being BABIES and toughen up? You're really WEAK if you let things get to you.
Proverbs 13, verse 18 “If you ignore criticism, you will end up in poverty and disgrace; if you accept criticism, you will be honored.” So we need to accept criticism. We need to cherish it.

I agree, why are the people in the Sistine chapel naked in church?

I'm with you on Webb. He wasn't perfect, but he's played solid this year. However, he's missed out on flashy plays so far, up to this one. But what a beauty!
