[News] Late For Work 12/5: Checking In On Joe Flacco's Elite Status After Record Day

111 posts in this topic

This is the perfect time to march into Foxborough, riding on a wave of offensive production. Joe looked like a man on a mission against the Phins. This team always seems to step it up when their backs are against the wall, which is why I love Dec/Jan football so much.

This game against the New England Asterisks is not going to be easy but, it is winnable if we play with the same determination and drive that we displayed this past week. We just have to want it more and expose their weaknesses as we already know we are "the" team they hate facing.

Time to take the Crybaby down!

1) The key to this game was getting the ball out fast. Now that the O line has solidified, Joe doesn't have to be watching out the corner of his eye for an incoming hit and can spend those precious seconds looking for his receiver. I think we ran that 3-steps-back/quickfire-to-Pitta-in-the-middle for half the game.

2) Finally saw Perriman shift into high gear on his score and plain outrun the defender, just like Torrey used to do. Am ready to see more of that.

3) I think the Ravens are one of the few teams who know we can march into Foxboro and beat the Patriots, assuming they don't cheat. And if we beat them, we can run the table from there to the playoffs.

So basically we have to win at home against the Eagles and at Bengals for sure, then we can afford to lose one of the game against Pats or Squelers ( if they drop one game). I think we will win Monday against  the Pats and the Pitts will drop one of the game against Bills or Bengals. My prediction for week 14 to 17: Ravens W vs Pats, W vs Eagles, L vs Squelers, W vs Bengals and Pitts L vs Bills, L vs Bengals, W vs Ravens and W vs Brown. Ravens win the division 10-6

Better start praying if you think Steelers lose to Bills and Bengals lol.... we have to beat them week 16.

Flacco's one interception was a terrible decision, but he thought he could make the throw.

I think he was hoping that Wallace hadn't switched-off on the play, which he had.  Hopefully everyone who has Mike's ear got right in it after that play.

Yea, Joe's look said it all. W....T.......

Some one stated Joe's elite because he won a SB. Joe is Joe That's It.

Throwing 11 TDs and 0 INTs in four playoff games to win a SB is definitely elite.

Being "elite" is a week-to-week thing. Nothing "elite" about Drew Brees, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers last week.

I would say that's under an "elite performance" rather than labeling a QB elite or in a top tier

As much as I can't stand the Steelers, I actually dislike Burfict more than any Steeler.  I will never root for an injury to another player, no matter how much I dislike that player.

LOL, that's the whole point.

If you're "elite", shouldn't you ALWAYS be "elite"? How can an "elite" player be "elite" some weeks and not be "elite" some weeks?

Let's stop with the Joe is Elite talk, alright? It's silly. First, taking out Joe with 9 minute to play, a chance to et his 1st 400yd game, maybe a 5th TD, and a great chance at the record for number of completions in a game can help the argument. But not IF the coaches take him OUT!! Then he's happy about iton the sideline? You think Brady, Manning, Brees, or Rogers would have allowed this then laughed and smiled as his back up could barely connect with a receiver? Taking Joe out was not a sign of him being elite.

Second, Joe had one great game this season and we're back onto the discussion? For Joe to prove his "eliteness" he needs 3-4 years of consistently high level play in the post season as well as the regular season. He needs to carry the team and lead them on the field. Joe has not done that this year. He hasn't been that vocal on field or calling audibles or anything that says it's his offense, not his OC's.

Can we stop with the Joe is elite talk? He has elite qualities, but has yet to put them all together for an extended stretch in the last 4 seasons since the Super Bowl. In that time you could make the argument that he was top-10 with all the loss of talent around him, but that's about it.

No. I'm baiting the "elite" fans who throw out the word but have no idea what it means. They keep moving the uprights week in and week out to fit whatever narrative they want "elite" to mean.

I'm also challenging people who type-cast certain players as "elite". If an "elite" player isn't playing "elite", what am I supposed to call him? Why would I call him "elite" if he's not playing "elite"?

Single dumbest paragraph I've ever seen written on this board...

The Ravens took advantage of an injured Dolphins defense so the jury is still out on this offense. At least they recognized the mismatch and took advantage of it big time. Flacco's quick delivery kept the Dolphins on their heels. Hope we see it on Monday night.

New England has played 6 teams with a losing record, 3 teams with a winning record and 3 at 500. They lost to Seattle (winning record) and Buffalo at home. The Pats beat everyone in Seattle division except the leader (Seattle). The Pats played & beat everyone in the Ravens division except the leader. The Ravens. When Pats play tough teams they fumble so I hope the Ravens rookies PLAY Like a RAVENS this week. Would you rather beat Dallas in Prime-time or New England in Prime time? This is going to be fun.

A rule change a few years ago changed it so that all turnovers (and scoring plays) are reviewed or not reviewed per the refs collective discretion, I was shocked they didn't review it (or did they and fail to communicate?) but also not shocked because Carl Cheffers is astonishingly horrible at his job and ALWAYS has been.

thanks OU I completely forgot about that.

Joe,

A friendly reminder: Please do NOT snap out off it until you hear THAT magic word.

Your hypnotist

Well I guess we can blame all our losses on you then. Why didn't you hypnotize him at the beginning of the season?
