Field conditions

26 posts in this topic

The announcers made a few comments about Dolphins losing their footing and now this article mentions the Fins displeasure about the field.

I will say the pic of the endzone in the article is a little disturbing considering what was spent to convert to grass.

The whole middle of the field was replaced for this game.  Wonder if the grass IS going to be a problem?

Dolphins should just replace the middle of their defense

It's grass, so horrible conditions at times are bound to happen.  I haven't heard other losing teams complain about it before. However, I was good though once I saw this from that article that says it all:

Branden Albert said the team, "Got punched in the mouth!"

Enough said!  Take your "L" and move on!

Basically both teams were aware before hand that the field conditions were bad, Dolphins came out in the wrong cleats anyway and were slipping and sliding on a couple plays. Then they switched cleats between the first and second quarter and it was never a problem again, but now they're attempting to blame everything but themselves for losing so badly.

Ravens played on the exact same field.

Both teams had ample pregame access to the field.

Non issue.

Many of us were ticked off when Tucker almost broke his leg on that horrible field in SF last season.  I would hate for our field to be an injury concern for any player.  To put so much money into that field and for it to be uneven shouldn't be ok with anyone.

That was just the Dolphins' shoes; note how after a while Jay and Co. went to the sideline and got new cleats during the first half. After they did the swap it never happened again.

Tuckers thing was he fell in a sink hole.  Grass being slick and not having great traction kind of happens in December in cold weather states.

It is a little amusing that the article highlights a pic of the grass in the end zone, and the Dolphins only saw the end zone once, lol.

This seems more like an Dolphin equipment issue, cleats choice specifically.

I do wonder if this were a thread about the Ravens slipping on a road field if the narrative would be the same...

If we played like the dolphins did I don't think so...

No excuse there.

Agreed.

Just always fascinated by some of these types of threads and the responses.

Feel pretty confident that if the Ravens were playing in Miami and the Ravens were slipping multiple times on the field, and the Dolphins weren't, Ravens fans wouldn't be saying "just change your cleats" or "the home teams not having any issues so its our fault".

Yeah the hypocrisy here is always pretty amusing. But its pretty much expected for most fans to be a little biased

Nope. If we lose you'll see people blaming joe long before blaming field conditions

Did you see the picture in the article.  The field is uneven.

Did you see the pic where it looked like Tannehill was wearing golf shoes?  I wonder in they still thought we had field turf.

I didn't see the picture, but that's hard to believe since they obviously warmed up on the field.  Or was the pic from warmups?  I could see them coming out in warmups with that, but then changing before the game starts if they really didn't realize we now have grass instead of turf.

Poor team performances blamed on pitch conditions, wind, if the tide is in or out, if its a full moon or not.....are signs of a weak and desperate management structure. I thought the commentators played a lot on this on Sunday, hahahahahahaaaaa.
