[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Miami Dolphins

94 posts in this topic

It still seems we'll probably have to win our remaining home game, and beat the steelers at Heinz field. If both happen, we can lose thew other two games, and still make the playoffs - the steelers would have to win out to kae it 10-6 to beat our 9-7. If we win those two games PLUS beat Cincinatti Week#17, we're in no matter what the steelers play.

That said, none of our 4 remaining games are gimmies the least... We could end up losing any of them if we don't bring our A game - like we did today. If we do however, we can just as much win any of the four games  although I'm afraid even our A game won't be enough in Foxboro... but it's in January we have to ebat the pats, not in December ;)

Seeing how the O played today, I think a 9-7 is a fair expectation (the pats i think are still too much, and Green will probably play Wek #17 which never bodes well for us, does it...). Which is still only enough for a nailbiter, as the other 3 games of the steelers are all fairly easily winnable (@BUF, @CLE, vCIN) - and indeed winning them all would put them at 10-6...

But football games were never won or lost in theory, but on the field, weren't they? So, we'll see...

Assuming we end up 9-7 with losses to Pit and NE. I agree. I think 10-6 gets us in no matter what. For the first time all year 10-6 seems possible.

Why would we lose to Pittsburgh? Weve beat them the last 3 times we played them.

That taunting call against Jernigan was WEAK. and I seen a lot of hands to the face by the Dolphins that weren't called.

10-6 wins this division so Pitts or Ravens ends up 9-7. That Jets game could be one game that did the Ravens in. I would feel a lot better going to New England with a run game because the Ravens will not win in a shoot out with Brady. Only having him sit the bench will.

The obvious difference between the 2012 season and now is that by the time we allowed ourselves a little slack, we were comfortably ahead in the division - and even if we somehow let it slip, we would still make the plaoffs at the top seeded wild card spot. This time we're only on top by virtue of half a tie breaker over the steelers - and if we don't win the division, we'll hardly make it as a wild card team...

But with all this: let's hope it'll end up being exactly like the 2013 season ;)

I know that has been the conventional wisdom, but DEN only has a 1 game lead on us and MIA is now behind us due to head-to-head. I suppose you can point to our difficult schedule, but DEN doesn't exactly have a cake-walk to finish the season. MIA finishes at BUF and hosts NE. A 9-7 team can still make this thing and it isn't that far-fetched.

Time to start working that ESPN playoff machine!

Whats even great besides the win is the Ravens are going to New England HEALTHY , ON FIRE and a National Televised game. Brady would love nothing more to pay Ravens back for his suspension because that's who he blames not the Colts.

At least I hope that is the case. I am sometimes stunned that there are guys who play the whole game who end up out the next week because something they played through on adrenaline catches up with them.

No doubt - Brady is going to want to stomp us. We don't like each other, at all. I think Brady hears people say things like, we're one of the only teams that can play with them in their house and some have called us their "kryptonite" and he's dying to reaffirm that they are the only true elite team in this conference. It is going to be tough, but as you say ... if we're healthy and we can continue to play well, we've certainly got a shot.

I always remember that during the draft that year, l wanted Ozzie to draft Ajayi due to him still on the board in the later rounds. Ozzie miss a big time player there. Ajayi could've been a beast with us but l'm happy with West.

West is an awesome back. Dixon shows he can be. But ya, Ajayi is crazy good.

I don't know about "Crazy Good". Zeke is crazy good tho

I think Wright is the best 3rd corner we've had for a while. He's way better than Ivy or Brown.

Powers is better than Wright.

four straight.

That's like saying why would Cinci lose to us b/c they beat us 5 straight.  You see how that worked out for them last week.

My Five Thoughts

1. This D is the best in the NFL.
2. Breshad Perriman can fly. He is starting to show what Ozzie saw in him.
3.O-Line did a great job in pass protection all game.
4.Everyone was making playes.
5.Didn't run much but when they did it looked okay. (5.5 yards a carry on 20 carries and a TD.)

Bring New England!

We won a couple shoot outs with Brady in 2012, and had our defense been healthy, we probably would have won another shootout in the 2014 playoffs. Brady isn't very good without Gronk, and with our defense healthy, I like our chances in a shootout in NE.

there wont be a shoot out because Brady is super overrated and the skillset of his targets is terribly limited, especially with Gronk out.

NE's whole wideout corps is a bunch of small, possession receivers that we've never had trouble blanking in coverage even with a patchwork secondary like we were working with in 2014.

That's why they always gotta come up with some crazy nonsense that gets outlawed the next season to get past us.

He's not going to be able to lean on Blount like he usually does when he cant beat the coverage either.

We'll be fine.

I called in all in a post a couple days ago. Flacco. The D. I was off by about 5 yards on Perrimans TD. And More. Anyone need any Ravens info. Just contact sizzlingdoom. Where are all you Flacco and Perriman haters now?

No way around it unless the Steelers would lose there next two games against the Bills and Bengals on the road, the Ravens have to get a three game winning streak out of these last four games. Either if we lose to the Patriots, have to go 3 game winning streak the rest of the way (Eagles, Steelers, Bengals) or win the next three (Patriots, Eagles, Steelers) to win the division and a playoff berth. Getting a wildcard is very unlikely. They gonna have to win the division.

Awesome complete game, well executed. It's exciting to finally see the Ravens play at what they are capable of. Next, slam the Pats on Monday night! GO RAVENS! CB 25

It is of no importance. That's gonna be a new game. The fact that we've beat them the last four games we met means nothing in this respect. Just like the fact that the Bengals beat us 5 straiught didn't mean a thing a week ago.

While I dislike Brady more than anyone, saying he isn't that good without Gronk is crazy talk.  He was great before Gronk got there and he didn't miss a beat while Gronk was out due to injury.  Are they better w/Gronk, no doubt. Thinking they're easy to beat w/out Gronk, is fool's gold.  That being said, If anyone can beat them in Foxborougn, it's the Ravens.

Well, you're right of course - but to me it merely say that us getting as playoff berth with, say 9-7 isn't unlikely. To me it doesn't make it too likely.

But hey, let life prove you right - I won't be bitter about it ;)

Look again. It was definitely taunting head butt. Very stupid penalty. Guess it was "caught up in the moment" thing.

Looking forward to the Patriots. Our Patriots meetings go two ways every time we play.
1. Its a competitive game, both defenses and the offenses are neck and neck and executing and it basically comes down to who can score last. Those games usually are 17-21, 14-21, 21-28, 21-27

2. We start out ok but then immediately it gets out of hand. Brady throwing 3 or 4 TDs on us and he just carves up our secondary, picking on that one out the loop corner we have. (shareece Wright will be that of course)

Awesome game! Now lets ride that tidal wave through New England. I've often said that I love December football and the way this team plays this time of year with their backs to the wall. Brady's going down!

The offensive line was the key. They made Flacco comfortable for the first time all year and gave time for the crossing patterns to develop. The running game even looked good when they used it. Let's hope this trend continues.

I don't want to be a Debbie downer, yes I am pumped.

We need serious game planning this week (every week!). Slick Billie B and Tommy B will be game planning and double game planning us. We need that running game and our secondary to be at the top of their game.

If Joe is protected it could be the game of the year. We need a solid game plan and a solid backup plan. The Pats are not a team to dismiss. I think if we plan well and then execute we will be holding a football clinic. If we revert back to playing not to lose, we are lost.

Good win, impressive BUT I wish someone would get Jernigan to Grow Up and stop the damn self serving antics. Be mature, make the play and get up and get ready to make the next one .... Marshal Yanda is the best in the league at his position, how many times do you see him doing that silly stuff? He pancakes a guy, gets up goes back to the huddle and does it again. Jernigan should take notes and grow up before he costs us a game...

I agree that we can't count on the Steelers losing, but there is another path even with a loss to NE...that' wins vs. Eagles, @ Steelers, and @ Bengals...granted, I like your path a lot better because we could actually rest easy in Week 17 in that scenario!

Plan Christmas Dinner at 4:00 or 7:30. Ravens at Steelers will be for the Division. Steelers have the next two on the road vs Bills and Bengals. We have the Pats away and Eagles at home. Let's hope for the Bills or Cinncy to hand Pittsburgh a loss. Showdown 12-25 at 4:30.
