Steve Smith Sr. - Merged

14 posts in this topic

To go into the HOF as a Raven! I don't know if SSS will be back next year and I am hoping he is, but if he retires, we need to start getting a movement going now to persuade him to go into the HOF as a Raven (in case he moves back to Carolina when he retires those fans beat us to the punch). Here are my reasons:

1. We know he is a HOF lock.

2. The man defines what it means to "Play like a Raven!" He is tough as nails and is all heart!

3. Us Ravens fans have embraced SSS from day one. We absolutely love this guy.

4. Our organization has treated him well and has shown him the proper respect.

5. I don't think he was shown respect by the Panthers when they cut him after everything he did for them.

6. He has said his greatest quotes as a Raven, like "Stole his lunch money" and "Ice up son" which will live on here for decades.

7. He looks better in Purple, Black, and Gold than Blue, White, and Silver.

8. He will be in our Ring of Honor one day.

9. He just has to or it will break my heart!

I need as many Ravens fans as possible to join me in helping me with this movement. Who's in?

I love Steve. It is criminal that he did not play for the team that he was put on this earth to play for. The football gods designed a WR in the womb, to rescue Boller from himself and to extend the defense's persona to the offense. Just the other day, Steve took a piss, and sure enough, his urine was purple.

But he belongs in the HOF, and he belongs there as a Panther. I'm just eternally grateful to have had him at all, especially since he made it a poorly kept secret for years that he'd love to "play up there in Baltimore".

I don't think players go into the HOF as a "name the team."

They go in as themselves, the individual, and that's it. It doesn't name a team on the bust.

Hes going in as Steve Smith who happened to play for the Panthers and end his career as a Raven.

And won a SB with the Ravens. (I hope so...it would be criminal for him to not get that trophy)

It's up to him lol. He can retire if he wants to, which he likely will. If he wants to play one more year I think we will resign him.

Not in our power.

Hope he does he can still ball but only he knows. But a solid finish this year and lets go for 1100. Works for me. He is still vey productive and has a passion for the game.

As far as the Hall, he already has his Ravens' niche there when he broke 1000 receptions. Jersey and cleats are on display. If and when he makes it in as a HOFer, he'll be inducted under both teams colors.

Pretty sure the ice up comment was made as a panther but I could be wrong. Either way, doesn't really matter to me- just glad we has the opportunity to have him play for us at all. He's been a godsend to this organization and defines what it means to play like a raven.

SSS was on Dan Patrick just now he was asked about retirement and he was hesitant in answering I hope that means there is a chance  but he said he wanted to enjoy the next few weeks but I think there might be a chance he is thinking about it.
