They don't need to shift their offense, because you need one to shift one.

It would be nice to see a running attack that we stick with into the 2nd half. We'll get our chances to throw it deep if we commit to the run early and often. West and Dixon's numbers would be higher if we'd just stick with it.

Remember success does not happen overnight. Keep pushing forward and the Ravens will prevail.

Dixon / West keep up the hard work - you are making progress!!

I have to say, there hasn't been this kind of dynamic running back ability on the Ravens since 2012. Not a shot at Forsett, he did well when he was here, but these guys have got some moves. Let's hope it just keeps getting better! GO RAVENS! CB 25

West has always said he is a back who performs better in the 20 - 25 attempt mode as it gives him time to wear down the defense and break some long runs. If you look at his best outings, that has been the case. I agree with RB by committee if that's what is most productive for both backs but if you are holding back a runner just to give runs to another guy, then you are doing a disservice to both. Dixon has missed a lot of time, West not so much. I say make West the bell-cow until he proves otherwise. His drop off came as a result of lack of touches, not as a result of lack of production. The fewer times that West runs the fewer yards per carry he has. Doesn't take the Browns analytic front office powerhouse to figure that one out, huh John?

data to back up?
I'm bored at work so I checked lol
2014 Browns West had carries of 18/5.2ypc...19/3.6ypc... 26/3.6ypc. Other games receiving 7-15carries. He avg. 3.8 ypc
2016 Ravens carries of 21/5.4ypc... 23/3.8 ypc... 21/3.1 ypc.    Other games receiving 8-15 carries He avg. 3.8 ypc

I'd say he's pretty consistent no matter the touches lol so two out of six games he's eclipsed 4ypc.
Most agree Dixon needs the ball more.

Still curious what Buck Allens problem is. Sure happy to see Dixon coming into his own. West has talent, I am just not sold on his durability. I think the Ravens need to consider pushing Dixon and even Allen up to take on the bulk of the carries. Let West be the second even third back, when he can be fresh. That is when he seems to really knock out the big runs. Have him ready and waiting for that 4,5 or 6th rotation, Also I think he could return Kicks. Keep in mind we have Juice who absolutely needs to be involved.

a good duo, feeling good about running game the best I have since the Ray Rice days. Dixon is right, he is just scratching the surface.

Feel bad for Forsett, but we have definitely improved at running back.

If there was any player who could handle the move it was Forsett. He is a classy player and found his footing elsewhere. He displayed great humility moving on and was a great player to have been around this organization.

I agree with your point but there needs to be some balance considerations also. It is a long season and you want to be able to play strong throughout the season and hopefully playoffs. The cold weather games coming should see move of a running attack. Like the article states, defenders don't always like hitting so much in the cold weather and footing often favors offensive play makers. Sounds good with this West-Dixon combo going and relatively fresh going into December.

Seriously. It's so awesome, and suprising/relieving the FO swallowed their pride and let Forsett go so this could happen. They have similar brusing styles which is awesome for this time of year, and they both have enough speed and explosion to break one. Plus Dixon is better suited for the passing game which balances things out. I love this tandem and I think Dixon is a future star for us. He reminds me exactly of one of my favorite runners growing up- Fred Taylor. If he replicates Fred's career in terms of career span and production for the Ravens, that pick alone will make up for a couple years of whiffs drafting.

Sooner or later one or both of these guys are going to break off some long ones. Now, is the time for it to happen.

Agreed. The NFL will definitely know who Kennith Dixon (Fred Taylor2.0) is by the end of the season. I think he'll take over as the lead back soon, but not workhorse by any means. Sending a fresh 225lb west at defenses late in the game and in cold weather is going to help every part of this team.

Just a little more on Dixon and Fred Taylor. I just went to youtube to watch Fred, one of my very favorites ever. The intro to his highlights is filled with quotes from Ray Lewis and what he thought about Taylor. Sounds like Lewis thinks he was one of the best football players ever. I agree. Time for you to stick around for a decade Mr. Dixon. Dixon is THE MAN
