[News] Joe Flacco: We Need To Keep Our Foot On Gas To Put Teams Away

41 posts in this topic

Flacco its time to shine. Get the ball down the field to Wallace & Perriman and hit Steve , Dennis & Aiken in stride over the middle and this tough season could become a magical one. It's up to you and only you.

Stop forgetting some of our best weapons. Wallace and Perriman and Pitta. No reason not to use them more than we did yesterday. It was like Cincy putting AJ
on the field and not throwing to him. We do that a lot. Put your best out there and
then use them a lot.

Flacco needs to start blaming himself and stop throwing coaches under the bus. How can the driver of a bus say we need to stop taking the foot off the gas? You're the one driving the bus.

Flacco didn't look all that comfortable to me. He still fails to see the blitz coming even though we all know it is.

Stop running on 1st and 2nd pass on 3rd and punt mentality and "PASS" the entire 1st half! The run is solid but Joe gotta open it up! The Ravens have done this before and I remember watching brady do it against the squeelers back in the day! Squeelers defense was so dominant on a MNF in squeeltown and that's how brady broke them down! No runs just slinging that Rock! We got the WRs, TEs and backs that can catch also! Gotta avg 30 pts a game if you want some
"JUICE" and now Joe wants to floor it! "YES" or should I say "FINALLY"! 11-5 IS POSSIBLE! WE THE BEST!

Joe should not have brought Steve's. penalty up in that press conference. It was already 4th down and Joe panic on third down play and ran right into the defense when he should have ran to his left.

Pitta should never be used on a run play but only on a play he gets the ball. Most ñegative run plays are when Pitta is in. STOP with your sorry reverses cause their not faking no one out. Ravens run practices have to be a joke the way they play.

There are to many offensive players taking plays off. Maybe a better way to put would half hardly executing. DVD does not lie.

Instead of Flacco, only communicating with BFF Pitta about offense keeping the foot on the gas, how about talking to your offensive coordinator and head coach who are also on the sideline.

You guys have been listening to Joe for 9 years now, you don't know when Joe says "we need to...we took our...." he is saying that instead of I or me , or passing the buck to the coaching. Its a standard for team concept leadership. As far staying completely no huddle the entire game, that's not realistic. But using audible at the line from under center, when at home especially, is a great option we should be doing. 2 back set is just as good as using Pitta for run blocking, I agree with a lower post why put him in there, when he is not really a passing target. Finally, Juice could be a great pocket pass blocker. I really would like to see him try instead of seeing Dixon or West whiff on the block.

He blinks rather slowly :)

only took him 9 seasons to figure this out.

He still hasn't figured it out. He makes statements like this, but what changes do we see from the offense? It's the same broken record of missed opportunities, penalties, and stalled drives every freaking week. The defense and Justin Tucker are what carry this team. But if Jimmy Smith can't get healthy then the D will struggle and we're gonna get killed by Miami, New England, and Pittsburgh, leaving us at 8-8 which won't win the division.

In the second half, it was 2nd and short (maybe 3?). We were in the gun, defense showed a double A gap blitz. Flacco audibles, goes under center, and then has the run go STRAIGHT INTO WHERE THE BLITZ WAS!!!

9 year vet right there for ya.

We need to keep on gas, but Flacco needs to make better audibles. Among other things we need to correct on our offense.

I was thinking the same thing on Sunday, but then again, defenses in the NFL are not stupid and work very very hard on game tape. You can bet your Butt that if we were to use Pitta only in passing plays, we would be even worse off and Flacco's completion % would be something like 2%.

But one thing for sure, we should never ever run the ball on the side, where Pitta is the sole outside containment. Either have a o-lineman pull or FB or additional TE there to help, cause otherwise we might as well spike the ball, at least we wouldn't lose any yards.

Flacco hasn't shown a single glimpse of improvement for 11 games, but at least he finally said that the offense needs to score more points! Thankfully we now have a plan and all our offense's problems are solved!

"Keep our foot on gas" and "Put teams away", why hasn't anyone else figured that puzzle out. Thanks to that stroke of genius, we're now gonna score 40 points per game, averaging 500 passing yards and 7 passing TDs per game. AND we're going to finish the season 13-3! FLACCO = FIRST BALLOT HOF; MVP; GOAT. FTW!

Joe, you talk the talk, but you need to walk the walk..we're still waiting for that leadership you said you were ready for...or was Ray really right after all??.
As a Super Bowl MVP, making a ton of cash, I'm rootin' for you shift to the next gear and floor it.

They actually didn't Run on 1st and 2nd downs consecutively much.    Here's a breakdown from play-by-play.

Ravens 1st down runs and the following play.
1st drive : 4 - 1st down runs [one run for first down ], 3 passes on 2nd down following run

2nd drive : no 1st down runs

3rd drive : INT on first play

4th drive : 3 - 1st down runs [one for first down ], 2 passes on 2nd down following run

5th drive : no 1st down runs ( 3 and out )

6th drive : 1 - 1st down run, 1 pass on 2nd down following run

7th drive : no 1st down runs ( End of Half)

Second half
8th drive : 2 - 1st down runs *one is Flacco scramble*, 1 run on 2nd down to Dixon (2 yd gain ) following the Flacco scramble Punt.

9th drive : 4 - 1st down runs, 2 runs on 2nd down (-2 yard loss & -2 yd loss ) FG Tucker    Consecutive runs 1st and 2nd down Run,Run twice in the drive

10th drive : 1- 1st down run ( on 1st & 20), 1 pass on 2nd down

11th drive : 1 - 1st down run, 1 pass on 2nd

12th FINAL Drive of game  running clock out.
1 - 1st down run, 1 run on 2nd down.

So, in the first half we never had a run, run, pass sequence..
In the second half,  it technically happened 4 times, although one occurred because of broken play where Flacco scrambled and the next play was a run and another time was the end of the game where passing wasn't an option while running out the clock.
So the team actually only called back to back 1st & 2nd down runs twice in the entire game.

I've never liked in the past when we did predictably go run, run, pass PUNT. So I understand where you're coming from there. But this team has passed on average of 40 times a game, we need a more balanced attack that will complement Flacco.

Joe, you know what happens when you drive in 1st gear all the time, eventually you break down. Get off the side streets, get on the highway and open this thing up. You talked the talk and you know what comes next.
