I know it's wishful thinking, but I sure hope Ozzie has Norv Turner's number on speed dial... A new OC can't come soon enough. One that's actually a good one, and can come up with playes where the strengths of our offense and players come into play - where the plays are drawn up to match the players' abilities, and not vica versa... Oh, and one who actually knows that in the two-minute drives you don't keep passing short-to-mid range passes to the middle of the field, giving the receiver no chance of making it out of bounds...

Luckily, we also have a D and a ST...

If there is a search for a new OC after the season, I hope they look for a new upcoming young guy for the job.  Part of the problem is hiring these old re-tread coaches that have an offensive scheme that hasn't evolved w/ the times.

In my opinion Marty is just a fill in for this season and will be immediately replaced, at least I hope. I do agree 100% its time for some new blood. Its time for new blood in more than a few spots on the ravens actually.

Really? What was hey did to the practices when Brian left. How many did they allow people to watch? Let me guess "all under the National Security umbrella" NEWS FLASH No team is afraid of the Ravens anymore. Not even Browns. Also, Why all the games Perriman? Fans what to see the number one draft picks play. "You can't see the forest from the Tress' When you understand that phrase then you'll see .

The phrase is actually "You can't see the forest FOR the trees" .  I am sure it was just a typo.

Very weak come back. Typical thou.

Again....no killer instinct. Our defense is far from as good as it was in 2000 to carry the team. Field goals and a decent defense will only go so far.
When your "star" QB absorbs so much of the teams salary- the rest of your weapons are going to be a crap shoot, etc. Go ask the Saints, they will tell you.
Yes, Drew Brees (NOT to compare Flacco with Brees- only how the major contract affects the REST of the team) is a great QB, however, the Saints............ (you all can complete the sentence)

That's BS. Flacco's contract and salary cap number is on par with every other starting QB not on a rookie contract. You are going to pay $18-25 million for a starting QB in this league, period. QB's that choke in the play-offs (Romo, Stafford, Tanehill, Cousins) are on the $18 million side, QBs that win in the play-offs (Flacco, Wilson, Ben, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, etc) are on the $20 million+ side.

And that's exactly how the NFL has engineered a 8-8 league by using the salary cap. A team is great when their QB is on their rookie contract and then back to 8-8 once the QB gets paid. Sure, there are exceptions like HALL OF FAME QBs Brady & Ben but for the most part, it comes out average like 8-8.

Drew Brees and the Saints are quite happy with Brandin Cooks, Michael Thomas, Willie Snead, Brandin Coleman, Coby Fleener, and Mark Ingram.

They average 319 pass yards per game (best in the league), 114 rush yards per game (9th in the league), and 30.4 points per game (2nd in the league). All 6 of their top passing options have at least 3 TDs each, and aside from Ingram and Coleman, they all have 480+ yards.

I have no earthly idea what you're talking about

Well he's kinda right and ur kinda right. Brady and Ben both have much lower cap hits than Flacco thusgiving their teams more flexibility to manuver.

on the other hand, your absolutely right. Any descent quarterback makes around 20 mil. So basically it's upto a GM to decide weather he's willing to secure a QB and bargain hunt somewhere else or continue to play moving chairs with a QB every couple of years. I'm glad we chose to stick with a QB because those 10 years without a QB were heartbreaking!

The problem I see is that Joe hasn't even played like an average QB this season for various reasons and that's what's killing us.

is Flacco overpaid? Yes, but not by much. Maybe 5 or 6 mil. I think that's worth not taking the risk of playing musical chairs. We have a LT that makes 5 mil a year and his market value is 10-12. That's your 6 mil right there so there's no excuses. Now a good GM needs to sit with his coach and find a way to make his 20 mil QB play like it before the playoffs come because it would be a shame wasting this talented squad because our QB can't play at the level he normally plays at.

Roethlisberger's cap hit is $23.9M.
Brady's cap hit is only lower because it ultimately makes him way more money. If the Ravens Front office would like to hand Joe $40M out of pocket up front, I'm sure he will gladly drop his base salary to whatever they want.

Flacco is not "overpaid."
Andrew Luck has never been to the superbowl and is making $24M a year.

Difference is, Luck wins game for the Colts is the only player they have that's worth a damn.
