[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Cincinnati Bengals

I'm glad we won. But man, this team is still very far from being a threat IF they make the playoffs. Today, I saw some of the worst play calling on the offensive side of the ball. In the first half, Ravens were nearing the red zone, it was 2nd and 1, and they called a FREAKING HB DELAY that got blown up. THEN, they run the off tackle on 3rd and 3, and that too got blown up. It was absolutely atrocious. In the second half, it was another 2nd and short, maybe 3. They're in the gun, defense shows a double A gap blitz. Flacco then audibles, then goes under center, and the run goes RIGHT INTO WHERE THE BLITZ WAS!!! I simply could not believe it. This game should not have been close. But when you have a moron at QB and a moron calling the plays, welp, you either lose, or barely win. Unbelievable. I hope they watch the tape and say: "What the hell was I thinking there?!?!"

When you have as many penalties as we had in this game and say that penalties were down, you are setting the bar very low indeed. These penalties are going to continue to hurt us, because they stop the momentum almost every time the offense gets anything going. Not hopeful about the playoff scenario unless things improve.

Joe is atrocious, I hate to sound like a broken record but the guys mechanics, footwork, release, etc.. are trash. Remember Trestman said he was going to work with Joe and get him to release it faster and all the good mechanics went to the dump to get him to get it out, supposedly to hit open receivers, who now can't get open. Face it, none of that crap we were fed worked and Marty is trying to piece together a garbage system the whole time we have a QB who can't hit the broad side of a barn and should take a pay cut to put those pieces around him he knows he needs to win. If Flacco looks at film and doesn't think he is robbing someone, then he has no morality. I would like to think he's not the I soaked you too bad you made a bad deal guy and will work that deal because it is a horrible deal for the team. He is not a good QB, he's not even a good backup NFL qb. When are we going to do something about getting him to drop his salary to get quality players or when are we getting rid of him. Has to be one or the other because people will be fired because Bisciotti isn't putting up with this for the length of Flacco's contract. Joe was borderline pre-injury (thus the elite, not elite crap) and post-injury he is 5 more years of this trash. Don't think Steves buying that.

Looks like another OC in 2017!

After taking a 10-0 lead, the Ravens failed to reach the end zone again and failed to put away a team on the brink, forcing the defense to hold on at the end. “We’re not going to survive” playing that way, Ravens quarterback  Joe Flaccoicon-article-link.gif  said,

Still, no one in the locker room was sugarcoating what happened on that side of the ball. Yet again, the Ravens started fast but pretty much came to a halt. “I mean, you can feel it,” Flacco said of the momentum waning. Indeed, you can. So what happened? Well, the Ravens went 0-for-6 on third downs in the second half. Quite simply, they stopped making the plays they’d made earlier. It’s called inconsistency, an issue the Ravens offense is still battling.

^ The Ravens offense was atrocious today...as usual!  They went 0-6 on 3rd downs in the second half.  Just disappeared...again!  Trash!  But, this was suppose to be their "breakout" game huh?  Smh.....

I know it's wishful thinking, but I sure hope Ozzie has Norv Turner's number on speed dial... A new OC can't come soon enough. One that's actually a good one, and can come up with playes where the strengths of our offense and players come into play - where the plays are drawn up to match the players' abilities, and not vica versa... Oh, and one who actually knows that in the two-minute drives you don't keep passing short-to-mid range passes to the middle of the field, giving the receiver no chance of making it out of bounds...

Luckily, we also have a D and a ST...

Watching Flacco run this offense just makes me wonder why the first drive of the game was so perfect and then nothing. Why? The play selection was just laughable and conservative. Spreading the Bengals out and running a HB draw just 2 yards away for the 1st down was just typical Ravens offense. No creativity at all. I feel better that we got the win but we not beating top tier teams with the lack of getting in the red zone.

I am happy that we won....... Joe ran out of the pocket again- and UP the field.
We are far from being acceptable as an offense- however we are progressing.
Lets continue to progress. Next- Miami

with kubiak our complaint was that we never got started until the 2nd quarter when we got away from predictable scripted plays but improved as the games went on

since kubiak our problem is that beyond the prescripted first 20 plays (which always seem to get us two half-decent drives and get us to 10-0) we become tepid and predictable and dont read adjustments etc.

This is sad. Great we beat the bengals but they are a 3-7-1 team. the same nonsense as always. we cant' get TD's and penalties. against a good team, we will not win. If AJ Green is in this game we do not win. It is frustrating that this is the 11th game and more of the same.

all the weapons we have and our offense is still baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, i mean we have dixon, Wallace, perriman, pitta, sss, aiken, waller, yet we can't score a TD for the life of me, no creativity to get all these guys the ball, and be a reliable offense.

How 'bout this- stop handing the ball off six yards behind the line of scrimmage when it's second and short yardage- most of the time we end up with third and five! Drives me crazy.

How bout this... Stop abandoning the RUN!
Every game it seems this year Ravens jump out 7,10-0 on opponents with a run heavy balance opening drive like the last 2 weeks, then Marty or Castillo or whoever iscrunning tge show forgets intentionally about the run game until late 3rd, or 4th quarter. Every 5,6 passes to 1 run. Uh...NO!! Failure on the part of coaches and the organization to put the team in a best place to succeed.

2ndly, more big plays. You have Perriman&Wallace 2 of the fastest guys in Nfl, there should be 4-5 20 plus yrd plays a game to them

Kept watching the two backs get a good burst, 2, 3 yards, and then two or three Bengals converging to end the run there. At the hand off I kept thinking, "this one's gonna break for 10 or 12 yards" then the opening would close. Credit to the Bengal linebackers for that; they run well.

But I would think there should be something in the play that accounts for those guys. There weren't enough replays to tell, so I don't know if it was WR/TE's not getting blocks or if the line wasn't getting downfield.

Typical Ravens 4th quarter though, huh? Our games are always in doubt.

That's the problem. Wallace and SSS are good players no longer premier players. The others are simply mediocre players. Waller? Really?

Interesting comment on 105.7 this morning on Ravens Game Day. When asked to compare Daulton and Flacco "Here you have two QB's who are not capable of putting the team on their backs". Truth.

Would be nice to hear from Harbs as To what he's doing to correct this o line. Then again he might not see a problem with it....

We have great receivers. We could have OBJ, Dez Byant, Amari Cooper, Larry Fitzgerald etc. and there wouldn't be any difference
