[News] Who's Practicing, Who's Not vs. Cincinnati Bengals

38 posts in this topic

Cornerback Jimmy Smith (back) wasn’t on the field at the start of the week’s practices, but veteran outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil (foot) is back and says he’s targeting a return to game action this week. Tight ends Crockett Gillmore (thigh) and Nick Boyle (suspension) are back on the field.

Please use Dixon more. It's so obvious he is a better option for our offense than West, primarily because of the receiving and make you miss threat.

IMO let Jimmy rest this week and roll with our back-ups. Without AJ Green, it will be tough for Cinncy to beat us downfield.

I would rather see Asa Jackson out there than Wright. Being the high school teammate of Jimmy Smith doesn't magically transfer some special coverage dust over to him. He is just bad and I am at the point where I would try someone who may be a diamond in the rough as opposed to just rough.

Still waiting for a GOOD, LOGICAL explanation as to why we are dominating running the ball at 6.3 yards per carry and we stop running. Has been every coordinator except Kubiak. Grow some Harbaugh and make demands of your coordinators, suggestions only go so far.

Funny how Gilmore is well when his job is on the line because Nick Boyle is off suspension and his roster spot is in jeopardy. That really makes me wonder because that seems to me to be an underlying issue with the Ravens. Don't know who what where or when, but there used to be a saying that you can't make the club in the tub where this team has turned the tub into a personal club, serving drinks, music, watch tv and has become a home away from home for a lot of these guys, over and over and over. Either we have a pathetic medical staff or are players are being allowed to grow soft or showed up here soft already and are just sitting back cashing the checks. I don't think we have a bad medical staff so if you are asking am I saying guys like J Smith, E Dumervil, Et.al. are soft, I say yes. No way I can look at SSS, T Siz, Yanda, our QB who just came off double ligament surgery last year, and if I don't take that stand then I am disrespecting these guys. They won't come out and say it, I will, these guys are just cashing checks.

more of levine, URban to deflect passes since we don't have pass rush, more Boyle and gilmore and less pitta's blocking, horrible blocking by the way. less of wright and powers, they're always playing catch up with WRs, more no huddle, and stick to the run game please.

Omar, it wasn't horrible blocking, that demeans horrible blockers, it was more watching while someone runs by you while not touching him. lol

lol, that's hilarious , u right, i can't believe they keep putting him out there to block if he can't block, at least put him out as WR, at least u r keeping a defender away from LOS. can't wait for gilmore and boyle to come back and show ppl how to really block.

Last time I read that a D Back knows their offense was when Shareece Wright was burned all day long last year against the Niners.

This game is not a gimme.

1) Our team is just OK
2) Flacco pretty much always sucks against the Bengals D.

You can pretty much guarantee at least two picks.

If Jimmy Smith doesn't play the Ravens need to pound the rock. Don't let the Bengals have too many chances to take advantage of Smith being out.

I think it was the nature of having very few possessions due to multiple long sustained possessions from Dallas leaving  us little time and very few possessions to control the ball. Compound this with the drive killing penalties that forced us to pass, I think that has something to do with it. We ran it very well our first scoring drive, we just didn't get too many opportunities before time remaining necessitated us to pass, and when we could afford to run drive killing penalties put us in bad spots to run.

We can't ever seem to play winning football against the bengals. Joe will look lost as usual an throw a few picks an our corners will struggle. We cannot play zone defense to save our life's. I'm still trying to figure out why we kept a million tight ends an we don't have enough corners. They also need to play Waller more at te.

if they lose to cincy sunday than the season is over imo. would like to see bisciotti sit the front office down after the season and pound his fist through his desk demanding better scouting and drafting. harbs needs to make some changes with some position coaches as well. go ravens and demolish cincy. lets not make this game closer than it needs to be

So just an odd stat, the same team that has the least amount of fumbles over the last decade now leads the NFL in fumbles, not fumbles lost just fumbles. The New England Patriots, that's right because deflate gate does matter.
Oh and our division just sucks this year, I don't even think we deserve a team in the playoffs this year. That's right it should be the best 12 teams period, no division or conference crap, just purely the best records going at it. I know it's a any given Sunday league, but certain teams just don't belong in the playoffs, I mean is being the best team in the worst division actually worth anything? When will they start ranking defense on the stat that matters points allowed per game, that would make us the #5 defense not the #2. Seattle would be #1 not Arizona, and everything would seem to make more sense. Total yards mean nothing, I'll give you 800 yards every week if you can't score on us and with field position you can have 5 touchdowns in less than 200yards offense, so in conclusion the NFL should change the way the choose the #1 defense. Even though I don't agree with the current playoff system we still have a good chance to win the division. I just hope this doesn't give clueless John Harbaugh, to much extra time on his credit here, I mean he said we didn't abandon the run game but the game itself didn't dictate us to run more. Really cause 6 yards a carry and time of possession means nothing right? 6 planed runs after the 1st quarter say Harbaugh is full of it, oh and a bad scramble because we only employ injured players in Baltimore, great O-line huh? 7 different starting combinations this year on the offensive line so much for the continuity. This defense is still good but if you want them to look better we need to control the clock which means the situation always dictates that we run the damn ball. Dream scenario this offseason Ozzie retires and Harbaugh quits out of pure shock forcing the Ravens to fix their problems instead of putting temporary band-aids on.

Boyle can help in the run game, IF the Ravens decide to run. Hopefully he can stay clean, he is a good tight end.

The only blocking tight end on the entire roster. Not that great but exactly what we need to move towards a more efficient run game.

Come next year every scout and coach should be fire that deals with the secondary. After 4 years ravens still look like Pee Wee league back there

Just sick and tired of all the cry baby crap and whining, everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else and making excuses, just go out and play Ravens football, and if you can't, get off the field, stop just collecting pay checks.

At some point, this team needs to make a statement. That means putting together a strong performance from all three phases. Hopefully, they find a way to make that statement this week.

Here it is. A bit misleading though because NE only leads in "fumbles not lost"

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/fumbles-not-lost-per-game

31st in fumbles per game

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/fumbles-per-game

24th in fumbles lost

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/fumbles-lost-per-game

so basically this is saying they still don't fumble much and are good at recovering when they do. I must admit I am disappointed in what I found. I was hoping for more evidence the Patriots were cheating, but these stats don't reinforce that.

I looked it up too, but isn't being 31st inferring you fumble the second most? They were at 1.5 a game?

Either way I'm more just joking around, but it is still annoying that they do every little thing they can do to get an advantage and they can't play you straight up. 2014 still stings with the deflated football and the illegal substitutions and home job audio acknowledgedment of those substitutions. Still, no Jimmy Smith and Melvin/Elam cost us that game. And maybe Perriman makes the play Torrey couldn't, despite Torrrey being the better player for us at this point , Perriman has made some catches that he couldn't make
