I'm still shocked at how many people would be okay with Marty coming back...

Considering the improvement in the offense over the last few games, I'm not surprised.

On countdown jay glazer did say there is a chance that Kubiak may be done. Really would love to bring back his whole staff. Some may follow Kyle shanahan when he gets his chance though

Same here. I'd rather keep Marty than pick up Roman.

I may be in the minority but I would happily welcome roman. He is committed to the run and was alongside Jim Harbaugh when they had a very solid offence in San Fran. Just excites me that he would be the first coach in a while to truly commit to the run gamgame

I am.  I know there's been some improvement, but not enough to where there's any reason I'd think we should move forward with him.

I agree.  My choices would be kubes if available and Mike McCoy.

It's tough to say considering he most likely used trestmans book. Do you think he'd do better implementing his own system?

He runs the same type of offense. I don't think he would be. I think he made too many awful decisions that had nothing to do with the playbook.

This is why I think Marty stays.

Unless someone amazing falls in our laps I think Marty will remain at O.C.

He was thrust into the position at half season.  I give him this off season to make some changes and get everyone on the same page.   Poor Joe can't keep a coordinator for long.

His offense definitely got better as the season went along but my main concern with Marty is he likes the short passing game which is starting to make me ill.

If Kubiak were to retire for health reasons, then Dennison might end up a free agent OC that the Ravens can grab.

He would be my #1 choice but I wouldn't be surprized if Elway makes him HC

This ones tough cuz he commited to run the ball but he's also had read and react QBs running his system which Joe don't fit that mold lol.

Rick Dennison needs to come back. He was Joe's best QB coach and he'd bring back the Kubiak system which would help both the passing game and the running game.

Dennison was a "quarterbacks" coach. That was all Kubiak.

What is the basis for rappaports rumor of our interest in Roman? Seems like he's just throwing something out there.

Dennison is only the OC by title wasn't he? I mean kubiak was the one calling the plays

He was the OC in Denver. Besides, He's been in that system long enough, in sure he can handle it by now.

"OC". Kubiak calls the plays.

You never really know.  I mean, these guys do have sources.  I'm sure there's been some conversation about Roman from one of them.  Whether that interest is overstated is where the media really becomes an issue.  I don't doubt there's interest though.

With him wording it the way he did ("Keep an eye on Greg Roman"), Rapoport probably asked if the Ravens had any interest in anyone at the moment and got a response like, "We'll keep an eye on the market. I know Greg Roman is out there right now."

Yeah.  It's all spun to create a story.  I'd assume there's some connection, but not much more than that.

I'd have to believe with names like Kelly, Kubiak, McVay, McCoy, maybe Payton, all being out there, Roman would be a massive settle.

Yep.  Need to see how thing shake out across the NFL before anything becomes serious.

How soon do you guys think changes will be made?

I think the firings might come early, but the for the hiring it's a tough call. If there's someone that the owner and Ozzie really likes they might try to grab them right away. There's also the chance they like someone on the staff of a playoff team, which will make them have to wait for a bit.

Well you're never going to fire a coordinator based on a defensive collapse in one game. Got no shot of ever being a good HC in this league making decisions like that.

You fire Marty if you weren't happy with what he did when he had the job. Its not like John really had the time to go out and scout other coaching candidates to replace Trestman mid-season... you're always going with an internal coach already on the roster at that point, and Marty was pretty much the only option. Interim coaches (which is basically all he was) are fired after a short period of time annually. Got multiple interim HCs in the league right now who won't be back with their team the next season.

One game lol That's cute.

I know that you're wanting to pin this on the defense, but this is a season long issue. I actually felt the Pittsburgh game was one of the better offensive games of the season. They just failed to finish and that's extremely frustrating.

However, Marty actually ran the ball LESS, showed marginal to little improvement offensively as a whole, did not help Joe's mechanics improve on a consistent basis, despite being the quarterbacks coach.

Also, as far as the "his system" idea goes, no one really seems to consider this, but if he used to run a WCO ever before in his career, then none of these plays were new to him. Every single playbook will feature the exact same plays if it's the same offense. It's just a matter of your philosophy on calling them and your idea of how the offense should be run. There was not a single play he hadn't seen before.

Well all OCs run a system, and they all have their own ways they do things as well. All OCs are not equal even if they run the same system, and that's because they all tweak it their way. That's what I meant.

The lackluster offense has been a season long thing - and the failure to finish defense has been a 5 season thing. Like I said, I get the Marty firing, but not over a Pees firing given how we lost that game. Not to mention a chance to advance in 2014 giving up 2 14 pt leads. Not to mention a slew of other games throughout his tenure.

I'm for that as well.

Screw Roman

I would hate if we settle for Roman and we let better options get away from us. That seems to be our problem as of late, instead of looking at real upgrades at coordinator we settle for lower quality while letting the better quality coordinators get away.
