[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Dallas Cowboys

Bottom line: Ravens needed to play better against great opponent. Ravens won battle against Ezekiel Elliott, but lost war overall on defense. Joe Flacco's statement wasn't all that crazy. Enjoy watching Steve Smith while you still can.

Their offensive line is as good as advertised. After the first quarter, Dak was bee boppin around back there.

I truly believe Jimmy Smith's presence would've made this game much different.

Penalties were an issue for us for sure. They stopped a few drives and that killed us but Dallas got away with a few very flagrant penalties that just had me jumping mad! The one in the end zone where our guy was getting manhandled was a big one as were a few others. I know there's nothing you can do about those but it sure seemed like the refs were all from Dallas!

Am I the only one wondering where the no-huddle was? It's worked well for us in the past, and it got us going last week, yet we don't use it until there are 10 mins left in the game. It worked immediately when we used it, but our defense couldn't get off the field to give us another shot. Maybe the coaching staff should watch tape of the SB run. This offense could be good if they spread it out, put Flacco in the shotgun, and pick up the tempo.

I agree. They need to do it the entire game. That's the only way we could get into rhythm on offense. They need to play like its 2 minutes on the clock. Offense, you need to do this.

Yep. ESPN eviscerated that crew calling them biased against Dallas so I think they were trying to make up for it. However that's no excuse we should have played better.

Nope they should have switched to that the entire second half. They started it too late.

When the Ravens don't generate a pass rush, the defense gets toasted.....the DB's and LB's just are just average cover guys. Someone also needs to remind the defense that tight ends are allowed to go out and catch passes.

yea that one in the end zone seemed like it would be really hard to miss. There were also two calls on Zuttah that were bogus.

this game was lost mainly by J Zuttah , he was either missing blocks or holding, that Personal foul he was flagged on was just a stupid stupid play on his behalf, he is just hot garbage this year, also we have the worst cover CBs in the league, without JSmith would couldn't cover anybody, I could make all those short wide open passes that Dakmade

Joe probably had his best game of the season... that said, it seemed like Dak just wanted it more than Joe.

Please, Flacco missed open targets as usual. He came out hot, went to sleep and only woke up when we fell behind as he always does.

Pitta can not block! I would cut him next season. Flacco got beat by a rookie, if you want to make Flacco better hire a head coach and OC that he wants. If you're spending that much on one player than he should decide who coaches him, otherwise we'll keep hiring and firing until Flacco's career is over.

The guys sure showed up and played hard, but ultimately the loss of Jimmy Smith and the lack of any offense to speak of doomed the Ravens. The season isn't over, but the Ravens will need to do more than simply beat the Stillers and sweep the Bengals to ensure a playoff spot (via winning the division).

Should they fail to make the playoffs, the Ravens know the formula needed: Playmaking receiver (can SSR stay another year?), dominant O-Line, and secondary help that can stay healthy.

This version of the Ravens team is nothing like the Ravens. The organization has been in steady decline since the Super Bowl. It is due to a lot of things. First the FO. Bad contracts - giving a below average QB $120M contract twice. Refusing to sign proven players that play like "a Raven" eg KO, signing inconsequential players to cheap contracts and thinking they accomplished something eg Michael Huff, Shareece Wright, Jerraud Powers, etc. Bad draft picks; Arthur Brown, Elam, Brooks, Kamalei Correa (in early rounds) etc

Secondly the coaching philosophy. Nice guys that can really play. That's not how the Ravens were built before Harbaugh came. When good players come around, the coaching staff doesn't seem to take note and they let them leave eg Dorian Stewart.

Really not sure that we are going to be able to restore the tradition here in a long while.
I remember when we used to be the dominant team; home or away

Dak was hitting receivers in stride, putting the ball where only they could catch it (post-up to Dez, back-shoulder throws, low and away to Beasley), and generally making good decisions. He was the better QB today.

Dez Bryant had 2 TDs...translation Jimmy Smith didnt play.

If you lose 1 CB and your dedensive secondary goes to hell in a handbasket you gotta invest in more CBs.

Which stinks because Young is a keeper, and Mo Canady looked like he had some ball skills and could be pretty good but is on IR. They gotta draft another shutdown guy opposite Jimmy, Wright cant cut it. Young better inside though he can handle smaller outside guys

For sure. He made decisive plays all day.

Ray Ray put it all out there! We are only as good as our QB! #1 Defense and all! Held them under 30 and Big Zeke under a 100 what else can you ask for? !

Not just a secondary that can stay healthy how about a secondary that can actually cover somebody. Wright is a terrible CB Powers not much better. We need to draft some very good people in the secondary.,

If Ray knows so much let him get his big butt up here and be a coach.

Dak was consistently missing open receivers until our pass rush died down, and then he had all day to throw and take advantage of our horrible secondary without J. Smith.

Flacco missed the RB a couple times at the end of the game, but I don't remember him missing any open receivers besides that. Penalties killed our offense.

Ray Lewis was right about Flacco. Did you see Dak owning that offense? Did you see Joe not owning that offense???

Yep couldn't agree more. But the Flacco apologists will tell me I'm not a fan, but they blame 52 out of the 53 players. When you blame that player that is entrusted and paid ridiculously to make us great and he is not, you are not a fan.
