When I mentioned that I personally "preferred" the taller and more physical DB's to all of these short cats (i.e. 5'9, 5'10 etc.), some were quick to rush to their defense as though I was saying that you couldn't be a good CB if you're short.  Wrong!  And although many of them have played poorly as well...my personal reason for liking the bigger DB's (6'1, 6'2, 6'3 etc.) is based upon what we clearly saw today from 6'2 Dez Bryant.  He pissed all over 2 of the "short" DB's.  He backed down 5'11 Wright in the endzone for one TD and then skull dragged 5'10 Powers in the endzone for another one.

Sure, Dez is a pro bowler and a beast and they are not the best CB's on our roster.  Oh wait...that'd be #22 6'2 Jimmy Smith! :D

that didnt happen because theyre short, it happened because they suck and are completely outmatched.

Ya'll can probably expect Judon to be inactive when Dumervil returns.  I know he's been talked about already in this thread, and I don't know if they showed it on TV, but he was being screamed at after his penalty.  Apparently, that's not a first for him.  Sucks because he's a seemingly decent pass rusher, but if he wants to be on the field, he has to play ST and play it well.  This is what, the 3rd week in a row with a key ST penalty?

Yanda should  stay at left guard and let ronnie develop some more. I feel like he definitely helped him today. Stanley looked good. of course I prefer him at right guard but he was still dominant

The Good: First Qt game plan.

The Bad: Penalties.

The Ugly: Lack of balance (running plays) in the 3rd and the 4th qt.

Today's Good Players: Dixon, SSSr, West, Suggs, Yanda, Tucker.

Today's Bad Players: cbs, 4th qt defensive line,

Today's ugly player's: Pitta's missed block, Zutah's penalties, the offense inability to give the defense rest.

Again, without me reading through the thread as I'm sure it's been discussed, but Za'Darius Smith was absolutely awful today.  We've seen the deficiencies in all facets of the game all year, but he was so bad at setting the edge.  Way too many plays that he had no business being inside, but he was there.  He's been such a disappointment this year.

True. Yanda is a serious, Alpha male, team oriented leader and Stanley will someday take the lead with his (and coaches and teammates) tutelage. I like the pairing of these guys on the left side, too.

Apparently moving to LG was the only way Yanda wasn't going to IR.  They were going to shut him down for the rest of the year last week, but Yanda convinced the team he could still play if he moved to LG since the right shoulder is healthy and he could handle interior pressure better from that side.  All of this according to Zrebiec's twitter feed.

Great info. Makes me like his team commitment even more.

That and the non call on Aiken just before our second TD were more than obvious. Thinking that would probably have been the same back judge, opposite side of the field going the other way.

That's the thing. On the most obvious missed calls, no calls and 'big' calls, big momentum shifts and big splash plays resulted, but not in our favor. Off the cuff (will document later) at least 3 drive killing 1st downs for us (huge) and at least 1 touchdown that should have been called-back for them. That's a killer.

Yea they were killers. I just watched the holding on the screen call as well and that one was bogus. The guy is stumbling to the ground and Zuttah just finished him off and got down field to block for Juice. It just sucks because that's not a outcome determined by the 2 teams. It's the refs.

yeah he gave up that long sweep to zeke in the 4th. set the edge well, then bit on a stutter step from like 8 yards away and totally took himself out of the play. it was bad.

hes been a disaster at everything hes done. i think he just bullied guys in college and it made him look like he was some physically imposing beast, but really hes just overmatched in the NFL.

@ NE

Eagles

No reason why this team shouldn't be at least 8-6 heading into our Christmas Day showdown with Pitt. Harbs needs to make sure his players and coaches are prepared for the road ahead. One game at a time. Let's take care of homefield and give NE our best shot. I'm hoping the Bengals are far out of playoff contention by week 17 and will be positioning themselves for the draft, allowing us to take advantage.

If only our offense could look as crisp and prepared as it did during that first quarter drive. Hopefully Jimmy is back healthy and Wright can stay far off the field.

Wow. This guy's a beast and a true raven. He's a top 5 raven to me.

I had high hopes for Smith. He's big, uses his hands well. He is just too slow. I think he does well against the run, but he is too slow to keep out there on 3rd downs. To be honest I don't know how he played this game, I was to irritated to pay attention to any specific player. But If you watch his past games, he beats his blockers, he just can't finish the play.

sucks to be 10 games into the season and not know what this team is capable of. are we a playoff contender or just plain bad? is the steeler win giving false hope?

I think we're an average team struggling with injuries that's currently winning a bad division by tiebreaker.

I noticed it too. He was abysmal, I didn't even notice anything he did today and it seemed that Dallas loved running it towards his way because he couldn't stop a damn thing. He has honestly taken a step back this year, pretty much why I would hesitate putting Judon in the dog house. Someone needs to put an APB out on his pass rush because its missing. Like seriously, he was man handled today. He has been a major disappointment this year.

You serious?

Ugggh... I hate how this is going so far for SSS.  Him, Suggs and even Doom don't deserve this.  Can't help but feel bad for Weddle too.

Wow, that's pretty wild. Gotta love inside information like this. And tough players like yanda. I think it was smart to sit Jimmy but still really wish he could've went. Wright is just so damn wishy washy. Him, Hester , zuttah and even Webb have really been liabilities more than anything. Hard to say which position in the draft we need the most. I'd say cb, but we also need more pass rushers, offensive line help , and even WR.  A new center would be nice right about now too.

Za'Darius Smith  appears a little slow in reacting to a play, or just slow in general. During the game, he continually, seemed 2 steps away from making a play.

Same thing again. They completely blew off the running game, Complete lack of discipline resulted in over 100 yards in penalties and poor coaching resulted in us getting caught in bad match-ups. ie, Young 1 on 1 with Bryant inside the redzone.

I love Joe. But he's a qb that needs a strong running game. We're squandering his career. We should be building a team around him like he had in his first 5 years in the league. Not the last. 4 years.

As a side note: No team has as many injuries or has players take so long to come back from injuries as the Ravens. Did we choose the medical staff because they're the best, or because they're a sponsor.

They don't suck. They're outmatched. Thats a coaching issue. you just can't throw Young or wright 1 on 1 out there against Dez Bryant. Prescott sees the match-up and starts to lick his chops every time. It should never happen.

Well, when they don't show the penalty on replay, you can be sure it was baloney. I had to rewind to see the hold, and, like you said, the tackle was already off balance- Zuttah just gave him a shove, and there was no hold, at all. Kind of hard to hold, then release, and run downfield, right? Just one of a number of bad calls. Not that it's unexpected, in a big game like this...

It's not a coaching issue.  If you continually put help over the top, that stops you from being able to stack the box against Elliott.  We were outmatched against that offense without Jimmy.

Well, you can give them safety help, but all they will do is throw to other open players, which is what they did. Dez didn't kill us as badly as people think he did... their entire passing attack did.
