Congratulations Steve Smith Sr

SSS embodies what an NFL player is supposed to be. He is one mentally and physically tough individual. What a role model for our community and NFL fans everywhere! His greatness proves that a man's stature is not defined by his height but by the size of his heart. Come back for one more year, Steve!! Please????

Steve said when he had a rough day of rehab, he'd sit in the Castle and look at the team record wall and eye that single season reception record of 103 held by Dmase. Steve said he wants that record and his name on the wall. He won't get there this year, but if not for injury the last couple years he was definitely on pace. Until he shows me otherwise I'll believe SSS can play at a high level until he decides he can't anymore. As it looks right now, he's telling father time to Ice Up Son. I could see SSS returning next season honestly. Yes I know he'll be 38 but he's been doing some really special things since turning 35. I'm of the belief that if SSS puts his mind to something, he's gonna get it done. Now of course the injuries are probably do to his age, but I think we could very well see SSS return next season on a Ray Lewis type open contract.

However if this is just wishful thinking and hoping on my part, It's been great seeing SSS rock the purple and black, or all purp last Thursday. It's officially only been 3 years, but he's been a Raven since 2001. Congrats!!!

I would love for him to return next year. He could defy father time for another season, and Steve knows that, but as of right now I think he's done after this season. I think it all comes down to his family. They're his top priority. If they tell him to give it another go, then I think he comes back. Regardless, I'm so thankful that I've gotten to experience 3 years of one of the most inspirational, tough, and hard-working receivers in NFL history as a Baltimore Raven. I couldn't ask for more. I just hope he can recreate his first TD as a Raven against the Bengals by grabbing and slamming Adam Jones to the ground on his way to a TD.
