[News] Late For Work 11/18: Ray Lewis' Take On Joe Flacco's Inconsistent Play; Ravens-Cowboys Predictions

Ray said this for Joe to hear...

Ray said this to bring attention to Ray!  I loved Lewis as a player and he does great things for the community.  However, he is HORRIBLE as an analyst and just wants to bring attention to himself.  Just because Joe doesn't have his leadership style does not mean he is not a leader.  Ray-Do us all a favor and use your passion to help out the community and leave Flacco alone!  If he (or anyone else for that matter) want to criticize Flacco's play--Fine--He deserves that because we all know Flacco has not played well this year.--But don't question his leadership--That leadership helped bring you a 2nd title!

JOE NEEDS TO HEAR THIS! I highly doubt Ray is doing this for himself, he gets attention anywhere he goes. I think he's trying to light a fire under JOE to get him going. I like it.

Of course Joe helped Ray get a 2nd title, but Ray helped Joe get his 1st title. Dont ever forget that. Ray doesn't need the attention. Joe has always lacked leadership. Ray is not asking Joe to be rah rah, he is asking Joe to sit next to his guys and chat, talk, converse, "this is what we did right/wrong, this is how we are gonna fix it, next drive we should try to exploit this weakness..." the way a Payton Manning or any other non-rah rah but still a great leader would gather his troops. Joe is a one man show on the sideline. If Joe could he would be watching TV on an iPad on the sideline while the D is on the field. For someone making $120M to play a TEAM sport, totally unacceptable!

I have waited 9 years for Flacco to become the leader of this offense and take control, vs being reliant on the Offensive Coordinator, and the scheme we run. I thought the Super Bowl run was his ascension, but in reality he was just balling out in a good system. It has always felt like Flacco thrives in the no huddle-spread offense, but when we try that early in games, it typically fails.

IMO he is at his best in a run heavy, play action offense where he can protect the football, yet use his mobility and arm talent to hit WRs and TE's on multiple levels of the field. We always want to put him in that "elite" category, but in reality he is simply a talented system quarterback that has all the physical traits you want in a QB. I just wish his play recognition, and command of the offense was better. See the mismatch before the snap and attack it. That's all Brady, Rodgers, and Manning ever do. They are not super heroes. They just find the mismatch pre-snap and audible to create one if none exists.

I really do not think it is fair that Ray Lewis questions Joe's passion for the game. I don't think it's fair for anyone to question it. Who are we to say how anyone should show their passion. People are different and show their emotions differently........Just because he doesn't show his the way that Ray did, does not mean he doesn't have it. Joe is just not that guy....so what, get over it. Quite frankly, even though I admire Ray for his passion, sometimes, in my opinion....I think he went overboard.  In the same way that I admire Ray for his emotion, and passion for the game....I admire Joe for his so called "lack of" of it.

he's only saying what %90 of everyone else has always said,we wish FLACCO would get the offense as pumped as RAY did with the defense, yeah, being kools alright, but my mans a little too chill, look what DREW BREES does with his offense before games, during games, keeps them up,our offense comes out flat every game,on the road it's ok to be calm, but i'd rather have a guy show just a little more passion then a houseplant, win or lose!

If you are really honest with yourself, you'll admit Ray Lewis's fiery speeches have always been equal parts performing for the camera and motivating the troops. To me this is totally an example of the former - saying something provocative to put the spotlight back on himself, and to draw ratings for the new TV show he works for. Nothing more. It is a selfish, petty and also untrue statement.

I am not a Flacco fanboy but long ago I accepted that Joe is not an extroverted guy - that doesn't mean he isn't passionate about the team and about winning. He clearly is. Go watch his last play from last season, when his knee had just been demolished, and he stayed on the field anyway. Go look for photos of his leg after the 2009 playoff games, when his thigh was one giant bruise and he played anyway. Ray Lewis is no idiot, he saw these things too, so it's obviously a publicity stunt.

an offense reflects it's QB.,wouldn't you say?,look at JOE,then look at the offense, about as passionate,(other then SMITH) as a box of vanilla wafers!

you get what you get and he still makes same bonehead plays.

There is nothing new here. Joe has always been inconsistent in the regular season but brilliant in the playoffs. Is it passion? Is it concentration? Who knows? No one has been able to figure it out. He won't become Ray Lewis so forget about it. If the offense doesn't produce in this one, it will be a disaster. They cannot continually go three and out against a quality opponent like the Cowboys. You may get away with that against Cleveland, but you'd better do better this week.

NO!

First, I would take Flacco in a heartbeat over any of those guys you mentioned.  Exactly how many playoff wins and Super Bowls do those guys have?

Second, no way we spend significant money on one of these guys when you are already paying Flacco.--That money would be MUCH better spent on other positions-WR, Oline, CB, S, OLB, etc.

No.....I would like to see a healthy O-line that has been specifically implemented to Joe's strengths, healthy receivers, healthy running back's, the same offensive coordinator...and a team that got to practice ALL together in the off-season. That is what I would like to see.

I was a Commanding Officer in the Air Force for 9 years. Leadership comes in all forms. There is nothing wrong with a quiet leadership style. Let us not forget that Joe is 11th all time in playoff wins and currently 40th all time in overall wins.

I am also a physician and it is clear that there are still issues with Joe's knee. They could be physical related to playing with a knew brace for the first time. They could be subconscious after getting hit last year.

This tale has not yet been fully told.

Bradford & Romo... are you joking. Teddy who? FLACCO IS OUR GUY period!

Romo is a joke BTW - when was he ever healthy enough to play sports?

Those guys are going to want $10-15 million per year. You want to spend that much cap space on "competition"? Kinda foolish to spend that money on another QB when you could use that to keep BWill. Joe wins games, period. That's all you need in this league. I don't need a fantasy QB. Give me Joe Montana & Troy Aikman over Dan Marino & Jim Kelly everytime.

Sorry Joe, but sometimes the truth hurts...also Ray Lewis is the all time #1 Raven and is still missed on the field and locker room...He doesn't need the attention!

And Ray Lewis getting hurt almost cost Joe his ring. Ray was disingenuous not to mention that Joe, super bowl MVP Joe with the exact same demeanor, was the reason he got his second ring. We won that super bowl because of Joe's amazingness and despite the ineffectiveness of an injured Ray.

I love Ray, but he is letting the Ravens down here attacking an injured Joe with a 2nd and 3rd string line who can't protect him.

It's like I said in another thread a week ago ... seems like Flacco just wants to have babies and be a family man.

Then IMHO you are a victim of media propaganda.

Again, stop comparing him to all time greats & HOF Brady & Manning. That's like saying - all Walter Payton & Emmitt Smith did was see the hole & follow the blockers. It's that easy, so why can't Terence West do that? Payton & Smith weren't super heroes, they weren't the fastest or the strongest, so what's the problem with West, Dixon or every other RB in the league?
