Panther's Peppers Wants Out-

4 posts in this topic

Hey Guys, I was checking the board and I didn't see nobody posted this yet, so I guess I will. Just read on cbs sportsline that Julius Peppers wants to leave Carolina and play in a 3-4 defense to "maximize his potential." He is scheduled to be a free agent after this season and said he is not going to re-sign with the Panthers. I know we have Trevor Pryce at a DE, but who else do we have? If we need a good DE here is our chance to take one. Not sure if we play in a 3-4 defense but I'm sure he wouldn't mind coming to Baltimore and playing for the Ravens. Should we take a look at him and try to sign him? I say yes.

We do play a 3-4 defense but Peppers is WAY too slender to play DE in our system. He would have to move to OLB. He'll be well out of our price range though. I think he'd do very well opposite Suggs, and with Haloti clogging up blockers.

Yeah Suggs and Peppers would be a scary thing to behold for other teams, but do we know if Peppers has any experience being upright and rushing the passer?

Besides that I've been saying we need to keep Suggs, but if we aren't able to and there isn't a impact rookie we'd like to draft to replace him then Peppers would be a good second option as long as he doesn't want to break the bank with him 29 years old and all.

I don't think it would take too much for him to learn the nuances of blitzing from OLB. He has all the physical attributes to put up crazy numbers. If he can beat a tackle from stationary, he can beat a TE with momentum on his side.
