[News] Kenneth Dixon's 'Breakout Game' Spells Good Things For Ravens Offense

Glad Dixon got something going, I like what I saw in pre-season, but there are bigger issues to worry about.

The biggest issue is the fact that the offense took so long to generate anything. A stable offense would have put up 21 points in the first half against the Browns. Instead, we shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and miscues all over the place.

How can a hand full of carries and a few catches equal a "Breakout Game"? Come on Mr. Mink, write something worthy of the space ....

I was thinking that too, 80 yards total is break out/front page worthy? Lol. We face Elliot next week, a RB that has been breaking out week after week. I'm definitely watching that game with a close eye.

West still has a much better YPC. I want Dixon to be good, but West is playing well. His YPC is consistent with some of the top ten back in overall yardage. If we can convert 3rd downs so either back can keep a rhythm , we may really see what they can do. Both have to do better at picking up Blitzes!

Just think how good these guys could be with a good offensive line with guys that could block. As for "break out".....Ravens have lowered their standard to just getting a couple good runs..

Elliot is top 5 pick, he's expected to breakout

Exactly, plus they have the best o-line in the league. Has been for a couple seasons now.

For the amount of reps he received, i would consider it a breakout game. He had more yards this game then he did the past few games he played. I think

Good to see Dixon get off.. gotta continue that 30x run, pass balance formula for victory vs Dallas.
And obviously priority 1,2,3 Front 7 Shutdown Zeke make Boys 1 dimensional

We hadn't had much up to that point so in a way it was a breakout. Stop grumbling over a few words that happen to be optimistic. We already have enough pessimist in our fan base.

So I guess Buck Allen is either trade bait or just relegated to special teams and the 3rd string running back in case one of the two gets injured.

The best players get the nod on game day, keeps the competition in high gear and keeps players from slacking. Also the opponent they play and the game plan factor in too. One good game does not mean too much in the scheme of things. Gotta prove you can do it week in and week out consistently.

OMG, 80 YARDS! Stop the presses. He is the next Gayle Sayers or Walter Payton. Seriously. Ok, he had a good game against a really bad team. He did a lot of things right. In the first half against the awful Browns, the Ravens were the same awful team they have been the last 4 losses. The only reason they weren't in worse shape at the half is that the Browns were more inept. At least they managed to put together a good second half while the Browns were still the Browns. Lets see what happens with Dallas before all this chest thumping starts.

injuries plus castillo keep us from having a much better line. since castillo was hired the best season the o-line had was when kubs was in charge.

Its the OFFENSIVE LINE!. If they would just get a little better than being 26th in the NFL Ravens could make it to the AFC title game. The Defense and Special Team doing THEIR job. They keep hoping after 3 years Juan's OL teaching will all of a sudden click like on like light bulb. These guys look as confused as they would in a Preseason game. If it doesn't click all the Ravens will do is lose draft picks.

With the O line under construction they are making holes for the RBs! KD is doing the Thang running and catching the rock! This will be needed in Dallas because Big Zeke will be doing the same thing! WE THE BEST!

So. According to some of the "coaches" on this site and even when West was gained nothing, Dixon was already a "bust". At least come on and post that you were quick to judge and the verdict is still out.

What? The Cowboys are going to be tougher than the Brownies? "If" the O-line was healthy, then I would think the Ravens could give them a run, but with half of an O-line? Flacco better have the game of the year. I thought Big Ben was very good and the Stealers still found a way to lose. 400 yards and lose? Seriously? Joe will need that if the O-line can't generate running lanes. At least the Stealers showed a blueprint for how to beat the Boys.....

Good article. Very encouraging. Anytime a player is returning from injury and is getting back to form is something worthy of acknowledgement. 80 yards of production may not translate well with some fans, but put it into perspective. If he is given double the play calls spread throughout the entire game we're looking at 160 yards of contributions. Add in West getting his in as well with double the opportunities balance-out through the game (84 yards) and that's over 240 yards from your running back position.

If this is the indicator and we stay healthy it would completely surpass one elite back (Bell or Elliot) could produce.

We've been slow starters offensively this season, but once we put 4 consistent offensive quarters together - that's money. Now knowing and having confidence in what we're capable of utilizing, it could change our entire approach and make it even harder for the remaining teams to scheme for.

If you have a good offensive line Pee Wee Herman could run the ball but Joe is going to have to deal with an cheap under developed O-line.

He saying it was a breakout game for him. Not necessarily a break out game. Jeez people lets not pass up a chance to complain. If we did we wouldnt be Ravens fans now would we.

I think Dixon will be a great back for us BUT I really wish they would let West handle the work load and stop splitting the carries up as much as they do. Its hard to get in a groove when your constantly in and out of the game, if he doesnt show he can handle it then you give Dixon the chance the next game.

Against the Browns, West had 21 carries and Dixon had 6. How is that splitting carries?

Really need to use this kid more in the passing game. They should line him up in the slot or spread him out a few plays.
