[News] Late For Work 11/14: Ravens In Sole Possession Of AFC North Lead After Steelers' Loss

55 posts in this topic

Our defense is capable of keeping our game with the Cowboys close, but I still don't see us winning, because Joe Flacco and the offense.

It would not be fair to ask our defense to shut out the best O-line in the league and to carry our team to yet another win. Their job is to keep the game close enough and I have no doubt they are able to do it.

But then Flacco will trot on to the field for 3 icky-dicky plays, probably dump the ball off to closest player who'll get 2 yards, and then skip back to the sidelines again with that smug smirk on his face like he just won us the SB.

So unless we can unleash West&co, it's going to be a looong game for us Sunday. And considering both our starting Gs are hurt, it won't be easy to find much running room.

I definitely appreciate the offense finally showing some life in the 2nd half of last game and I hope that carries over to Dallas this week because a win there would do wonders for us.

Basically, keep the no-huddle thing going.

Dallas will be real test. Glad we have extended rest. Worked out well to have a Thursday night against Cleveland, giving us extra time to rest and prep for Dallas.

A win Sunday will mean we are not a joke, and deserve our first place berth.

The Ravens' run game, pass protection and over-all offense could benefit from more Waller and less Pitta especially since Pitta brings nothing in terms of blocking. And by nothing I mean not even an attempt to block. I wonder how BFF Flacco felt when Pitta lined up in the back field for max protection and stood there as the LB blitzed and leveled Flacco. Time for the Ravens coaches to stop playing favorites.

When does Nick Boyle come back?

He's on a 10 game suspension, meaning he is eligible to come back AFTER the Cowboys game.

For us to win this game we have to do what we did with the quick slants and RUN PLAY ACTION! This will keep the defense honest and allow our 1-2 punch RB's grind it out and open it up for our receivers. We ran more PA last game than we did the entire season. We have the TE's to do it. Especially with Pitta and Waller and Waller is freaking blazing fast. You get him on a PA route across the middle of the field against a LB and he's burning them. We have the weapons and speed in place. USE IT!

When does Nick Boyle come back?

Great question. I think he is eligible after the week 10 games, then the Ravens have a short period of time to make a roster decision. Can anyone else provide a better response?

It's the O-line RaRa. It wasn't good to start with (including the complete insanity of starting two rookies on the left side) and when any link breaks now, it all falls apart. It was/is this line that is supposed to protect the quarterback coming back early from a devastating injury that takes a year of playing to fully recover from.

Plus Joe, IMHO, is in a lot of pain, either from the previous injury or a new one from earlier this year. Haven't you ever heard the saying "Smile when you are in pain!"? It helps mask the pain and conceal it from your enemies.

the team really should look at playing the cowboys as a superbowl game.IF they can shut down their running game and score points(flacco) they may have a chance,no one else has shut them down, too bad we don't have an offensive line as theirs anymore, they get it that it all starts upfront, but most of the offensive money is going to flacco,(elite)

It's been a challenging season to say the least as we plug leaks and make adjustments, but let's keep chopping wood one week at a time. With our defense and special teams, all we need is each to score and we can beat Dallas. We may not like it but playing '00 style football can still win games. A victory by any means necessary is good by me! Go Ravens!

10 game suspension. Eligible to return for the game on the 27th against the Bengals.

I think we can have a great offensive game against the cowboys. We have problems with middle rushing teams, Cowboys Blitz a generate pressure off the edge. They also have finesse rushers, our tackles can handle that. Stanley is working on power rushers but against speed guys he can be really good for us. Secondly, they have smaller corners who we can exploit with Perriman and Wallace. They have fast LB's so our TE play may suffer. They are great against the run, but we will get our 3YPC anyway, that's all we can do right now until we get a better Center and some good health luck. This game is more winnable than I think we are getting credit for. I think we match up well.

if lewis and yanda are out than flacco will not have time to go deep. marty will have to get creative with quick routes. hope yanda can play

This is definitely a winnable game. If our D can make Dallas one-dimensional, then we'll be in a position to win. However, Flacco cannot turn the ball over. He just needs to have a solid game and put them in position to score, and NOT throw stupid interceptions.

This will be a low scoring game. Although I feel we CAN win, I don't think we will, because Flacco will inevitably do something to screw us over.

I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh let Dallas score the second to last touchdown. Dallas had a first down at the two minute warning only needing a FG to win. Letting Elliot score at that point was the only way that they would have a chance.

Can the Ravens score 30+ points? Because that's what it going to take to beat Dallas but the Ravens have not scored 30 this year. This will be game if the Ravens can be taken seriously and the players to get noticed and shut everyone up.

go offense. time to help out the defense

If the Offense can do something the Ravens Special Teams could be the difference.!!!!!

Time for Elliot to meet the big boys Williams and Pierce!! our #1 ranked rush defense will keep us in this game. If we can Keep Elliot contained i can see us leaving Dallas with a Win. Everyone here is soooo negative even after winning two divisional games - just sad.

We can definitely beat the Cowboys but all 3 phases need to be working in prime condition and get hot right away. Can't have a 1st half like we did against the Browns from here on out, unless the defense is playing lights out and putting Dak Prescott on his back.

That will last for a while but those 3 and out will destroy that. I'm REALLY sick of this so called OFFENSE. They can't or will not block , Joe can't throw to save his kids, and they can't stay healthy. How many defense players are hurt anyway compared to offensive.

I thought that was the case too, but for what it's worth Jarvis Jones of the Steelers says they didn't let him score...Of course, who know if he is telling the truth:  http://www.espn.com/blog/pittsburgh-steelers/post/_/id/21265/steelers-on-late-zeke-td-why-would-we-let-them-score

You just don't stop with the negative comments do you. I think you would like to see us lose so you can keep on griping. It really makes your day.
