Path to the playoffs.

The Ravens finish the season with three winnable games. So, their playoff chances are still fairly good.

We are a completely different team on the road compared to at home. Without Jimmy, I think we drop at least one more. Brown or Green are going to have a field day without Jimmy on the field.

As long as that one isn't against the Steelers, then going 2-1 through the end of the season is fine.

But if we lose one more, it doesn't matter who to, the Steelers are going to have to lose 2 of the last 3. We have to win our last 3 games.

OK, 3 realistic paths to the playoffs (only 1 of which is guaranteed)

GUARANTEED PATH

-Beat Eagles at home, beat Steelers and Bengals on road, WIN DIVISION

2nd Path

-Bengals beat Steelers, Ravens beat Steelers and one of Eagles/Bengals. WIN DIVISION

3rd Path

-Win any 2 of next 3, Dolphins lose twice (@ Jets, @ Bills, vs. Patriots)....Denver loses twice (vs. Patriots, @ Chiefs, vs. Raiders)  WILDCARD

---the sad part about this scenario is that we now have to root for the Patriots! But then we can take them down in Foxboro when it counts!

Let's hope  the cheifs keep winning so new England has something to play for in week 17 against Miami. They can do us a favor once again. Miami could slip up against the jets or bills as well- esp without tannehill ( even though Moore isn't a bad backup)

I think Denver for sure loses atleast two of the final 3..if not all 3. So I think a wild card berth might even be more likely considering the way the schedule shakes out.  I bet you if new England knows that a Miami win would knock us out the playoff and if they have the number one seed wrapped up they could potentially purposefully lose just to keep us out and avoid seeing us again. Might sound crazy but it gives them a much better run at the Superbowl with Miami in the playoffs as opposed to us.

Who knows what's gonna happen. I just pray Jimmy's ankle isn't too serious and he's back for Pittsburgh.

And If Pittsburgh loses next week vs cinci- even if Philly beats us we STILL control our own destiny. Wild stuff.

Some of you guys act like we were dominant in our Super Bowl season lol. Some of the same exact things were being said and done. We have a real chance to go 10-6 like we did that year. Just get in to the playoffs and it's a four game season

It's unfortunate our options are dwindling, but I think it's too early to give up hope. If we lose to Philadelphia, then it's time. But it's not totally unrealistic for us to pull off wins in these next three games.

Things look bleak right now. Last night wasn't pretty by any means. I want to see the most angry team I've ever seen these next 3 weeks. I believe in the Ravens. The Eagles game should be a win. The Bengals game should be a win if we have Jimmy. The Steelers game will be a dogfight. I like our wild card chances if we win 2 of our last 3. I really think the Broncos drop 2 more. If the Jets beat the Dolphins, that'll do us wonders. I think it's possible that the Dolphins lose 2 of 3. I just really want the Patriots to have something to play for week 17 so they don't sit their starters against the Dolphins.

And just to prove your point, here is a thread starting post from mid-December 2012:

"This brand of football we are putting on the field lately is pretty bad to watch, the word is PUTRID. Mistakes all over the place. I have to look at the top for the undiscipline that keep costing us games.
In a word, Playoffs? How?"

It's déjà vu all over again. I still have faith. Let's get on a 7 game win streak

What's crazy is that the 3rd Path is very very very possible... actually all paths are

Guaranteed Path : Definitely possible. Right now I'm giving us a 40% chance for the Steelers game, but who knows.

2nd Path : I feel that this is the least likely path, but who knows. Maybe the Bengals beat both us and the Steelers, but we beat the Steelers and win the division!

3rd Path: I think this is the most likely path. We should win 2/3, for sure the Eagles game, that's basically a must win game. Now here's the thing, will the Broncos lose 2 of 3? I say 75% yes. Will the Dolphins lose 2 of 3? I say 50% yes. They should lose to the Bills, and they should beat the Pats as long as they wrap up the #1 seed. I think it comes down to the Dolphins at Jets game next week. It's importance is HUGE. Go Jets! We also need the Titans or Texans to lose 1 game, and considering they play each other week 17, that will happen as long as they don't tie.

Steelers lose to cinci  and we beat philly....then all we have to do is beat Pittsburgh and the cinci game is irrelevant...or if the steelers lose to cinci and we beat philly but lose to Pittsburgh we still have a 1% chance of winning the north if Cleveland beats them in week 17 lol

Honestly I think  the wildcard is our best hope. Beat Philly and cinci  and pray like hell Miami loses two. If they don't lose to the jets then we gotta hope that the bills take care of business for Rex and that the cheifs keep winning so they will be in contention for the #1 seed and give new England something to play for in week 17. I'm not too worried about denver losing two...I think their playoff hopes are done looking at their schedule.

That miami win might be our saving grace.

IRT your 3rd path, the Pats will probably be in a position to rest their starters in their last game vs MIA.

You may feel that way because you probably bought into the offense's "peek-a-boo" performance from last week vs the Dolphins and expected to see more of the same vs the Patriots.  I'm more pissed by their pathetic performance in prime time than anything else.  That type of continual offensive ineptitude is indefensible when chatting it up with friends of other fanbases that tuned into that mess.  And, the defense wasn't on point either.

I hear you Mili. I just get so wrapped up in this team heart and soul, that when they get spanked this bad against a team I despise as much as NE, it just emotionally drains me for a while. I'll perk back up before the next game, i always do. Thanks for your thoughts brother.

No problem Rav'n.  I do the same thing.

I'm constantly defending them and their gameplay against the Ravens outsider, critics, skeptics, haters and downright false prognosticators (my friends) that are always picking against them, expecting them to lose regardless of where they play or their opponents and just downgrading our team starting with Joe Flacco as the QB of course.  And then after all of that energy from me trying to "juice" them up....they go out there and play like that in prime time man!  :th_shame::angry:

I pretty much don't even bother with that any more.  I save my energy for correcting downright untruths and misinformation.  I love when we're expected to lose.  It's so much fun when we don't. :-)

How often has that happened this year?

Edit: if you're looking at Vegas betting lines to determine whether we are "supposed to win or lose", we've won one game this year where we were an underdog... against the Steelers at home.

Yea same here, that loss hurt, not because I expected us to win, I didn't, because it's the damn Patriots and Brady.

Yeah. I agree. Guess we will have to beat them when it really counts, in January!!!  Just think how much sweeter that victory will be!

sip my purple kool-aid....

1) Eagles - Ravens don't make the mistake of looking pass these guys and get easy win.

2) Steelers week - let's just say I respect the team, but boy do I hate the fanbase. Tough game, but (sip more purple kool-aid) Ravens get it done!! win #2

3) Bungals - Bengals players planning off season vacations and the Ravens not looking pass these guys. win #3 and we're in the Playoffs

We're in the dance (drink all my purple kool-aid), we rip through the playoffs and win the SUPER BOWL!!!

I think the Ravens have a great chance with 3 games left to make the playoffs, mostly for a WC spot though! The two teams that are in the Ravens way are the Dolphins who we beats, and the Broncos! Dolphins lost Tannehill for the year, so they are done. The Broncos in their last three games play the Patriots, Raiders, and Chiefs. All three teams have 10+ wins. Denver has no offense to compete, They will lose at least 2 of the last 3, most likely 3. Denver hasn not looked good the last month, they look like they are done. Our schedule is the Eagles, Steelers, and Bungles! We have already beaten two of the three! If we beat the Eagles and the Steelers, you can almost guarantee we will make the playoffs. To win the division, obviously we have to beat the Steelers. They're schedule is to easy down the road. Everyone says we have a hard schedule down the road, but the only team I am worried about beating is Pittsburgh. We should beat the Eagles at home with a rookie quarter back against our defense, and the bungles have no Aj green nor Rb. If we win the next 2 games, we should be in the playoffs, We really only need 2 out of 3 to get in.

Here's the link to the playoff elimination/clinching scenarios for each AFC team. Obviously, there's none for the Ravens this week, but instead there's a lot of games that affect the Ravens playoff chances this week. I suggest giving it a look. It's really interesting.
