[News] Ravens Offense Builds Confidence With Breakout Game

19 posts in this topic

Baltimore has been waiting on its offense to click. A faster-paced approach to start the second half got the ball rolling, and passes to speedsters underneath kept it going. Now can the Ravens keep it up?

The offense needs to continue to improve, the O-Line coaching needs work, and Joe needs to cut down on the turnovers. We have a championship-caliber defense and kicker. The offense needs to elevate its game to at least mediocrity for this team to have a shot at the playoffs.

i was happy to see us rolling the pocket and using shotgun and mixing runs and screens more into the play calling. It helped make play action useful. We can build off this. Joe still has to learn to throw the ball away and not force it. I don't think he will get better with his pocket awareness. but he can still make better decisions. I would not give him many option passing routes. He needs to be in a modified college spread system. When he does not have to think he is great, two minute drills, end of game. He also has to stop zeroing in on receivers. Lastly, he has a hard time seeing the left side of the field, he misses open reads to the left quite often, and when he throws left, you know it, he stares down the receiver on the left and over torques his body. Marty CAN fix that.

This was a nice second half game to watch. Build off the momentum and carry it over to the next game. Hopefully Alex Lewis won't be sidelined from last night's injury. Next up the Cowboys who I hate as much as the Steelers. Go down to Dallas and take care of business one play at a time. The Ravens D is playing at such a high level, and it seemed like the Offense finally began to gel.

The Ravens had a breakout half for the offense. Not a breakout game. The first half was hard to watch. The 2nd half showed signs of life and TBH we should have had at least 3 more points... if Joe don't throw that pick in the 2nd half.

In all of those clips, I see a QB with enough protection to get some throws off. And when he was hurried, the play had already been designed to get it to someone quickly underneath so it didn't matter much. So kudos to the O-line for keeping the defense off Flacco. Let's hope they can do the same against the Cowboys.

A MUCH better game- Thank you, Ravens!
.
My only major complaint, to date, is the major flag that I had tossed at myself.
Here, earlier in the week I had been touting the possible need for smelling salts to combat anything close to a 'steamrolling', I fell short.
While tired and sensing possible doom while witnessing another offensive dud during the first half- I had fallen asleep. Bottom line- one cannot administer smelling salts to ones self while sleeping. OUCH ! I messed a great second half-performance!
Ill enjoy this for awhile. I'll have nearly 10 days to pile on "somebody" (who had 2 interceptions either in or close to the end zone) at a later date.

You got that right, BigUgly!

I need to see more than just a good half against one of the worst defenses in the league to before I will hang my hat on the offense finally figuring it out.

Perhaps we need to keep the no-huddle thing going and get back to some simple smash mouth running and then play action passing. Keep it simple for our younger guys because they don't seem to have a clue on anything else. Next OC all off season has his guys burying themselves in the playbook and the film room. It is their job to know the plays at the very least.

Waller and Perriman work out with a football launcher for hours a day every day all off season long. You have hands, not stones.

Need at least 28 pts a TD a quarter to last in this league! Dallas defense will give up 30 pts but their offense will get that same number! PPG has to improve and keep slinging that Rock! GOOD GAME!

It's been twenty-two months since we've last seen a multi-score win. At least we can say the drought is finally over. Now let's continue to build on it!

I have to say I have been a Ravens fan since they came to Baltimore and joined the boards here but after reading all the comments I have to say you guys are the worst fans in the league. Bunch of cry babies who bash everyone on the team. I could feel my blood boil just reading through all the garbage because this is my team and my players out there playing hard in a league that is tough to win in, but most of these guys on here have zero athletic ability but think they know it all. Fans I think not. Makes me sick to read.

The ravens have one of the best defenses in the league. They don't need to be pass happy. I'm liking the two wins even if people are complaining. The ravens are in first place. That four game skid is over. They are getting healthy at the right time. Get to the playoffs and Joe turns into a elite QB. We've seen it before even when in 2014 we didn't think that Joe would show up. Next week they play Dallas in Dallas. A team they've never lost too. And they are going in there the underdog with the #1 defense in the league. Plus Yanda will be back. Have some faith in this defense. Dak is a rookie and yes he's looked good at times but he's still a rookie. And one thing we love in Baltimore is when our top 5 defense makes rookies look like rookies. Romo may get his job back ;). If the offense can feed off the browns game, they win that game.

I like the direction of the offense but that was only half a game they put together. It will take a full games production to take down the Cowboys, so get your stuff together. As for the defense wow they just keep getting better, and where does this Young guy get off playing this good, I mean wow never saw that coming. This in all seriousness will be our greatest test this season, just above the Raiders game in difficulty. Can't wait to see how our Ravens do.

Up-tempo has always worked well for this team. Can't understand why they don't go to it more.

I have always wondered that too. Flacco is at his best in no huddle, it helps tire out the pass rush, and when that gets going, the run game usually picks up as well.

impressed with running game, Dixon and West. Dixon has a bright future he is an all around back. Hope the Ravens stick with Chris Moore, he can be a good addition to the WR core.

I've been a fan of Baltimore area sports before the last Orioles World Series Championship and before and after the Colts left town, so I dare say I've been a fan longer than you have. I am not "crying" about anything. I am simply explaining what I see. If the truth makes your blood boil then I guess you should take a few deep breaths before/after you read something because peoples' comments should not work you up so much. I seriously mean that because I care about peoples' health.

Just so you know here is a definition of the word "fan" for you:

fan2

noun
1. an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.:
a baseball fan; a great fan of Charlie Chaplin.

I am an enthusiastic follower and admirer of the Baltimore Ravens and football. I don't cheer for any other teams. I simply don't allow my fandom to interfere with my objectivity. If I see something stupid happening I am gonna call it like I see it and I don't care how much I like the person or thing that is doing the stupid action.
