zeke gets better as the game goes on when he faces your average defense. hhes not facing our defense every week.

zeke will be in for a hell of a surprise next sunday.

Win or lose I think we leave this game with people talking about this defense.  I really want to keep our Dallas streak going and think it's possible if we can get Yanda back.  their defense can be exposed if we can put drives together.

key to this game will be the offense going on drives and manage the clock.

if we go 3 and out or lots of short drives a lot that dallas oline will destroy our defense.

I think we can hold them for 2-3 quarters but if the Jets or Giants offense shows up its over.

Watched the Cowboys v packers and bengals - zeke has a lot of nice runs bouncing to the outside, we're stout up the middle - with pierce n Williams - going to need to set the edge well - send him to help inside.

Also need to be prepared to contain Prescott, making a lot of plays rolling out of the pocket and scrambling, they also use a lot of misdirection, run some sweeps, screens for Beasley

Really going to have our hands full

Against the Steelers a few of the biggest plays came from Big Ben scrambling to the outside but the big difference to me is the arm strength. I know Dak is younger but i do not think he has the strength that Big Ben has nor the aim while on the move. So at best it is of course a 50/50 that any scramble to go deep will end up in our hands as long as it is NOT Weddle LOL as he has god awful hands...j/k

The thing about that is that all of those plays came when the Ravens moved to more of a Tampa 2 defense and played more conservative in the back end. Dez being back changes some things but I don't really worry about their WRs on the outside especially if the Ravens stop the run and take away the play action. I like the Ravens matched up on those guys. Jimmy, Young and Powers matched up with Dez, Beasly and Williams is good. I think the biggest thing is the LBs and Safeties taking Witten out of the game. As you said I don't think Dak has the arm strength to continuously attack the Ravens deep and wide without play action. So it'll be interesting to see if the Ravens can take away the middle of the field and force tight window throws for Dak instead of allowing the offense to just flow for him.

If the Cowboys can press the edges and get play action going it'll be a long day for the Ravens because there is still a lack of speed on the back end of this defense and RAC yards could pile up if the Cowboys are allowed to have space. I will say I think the tackling has improved so far this year and that'll be a huge factor as well. Should be a great matchup, if the Ravens record was a game or 2 better this would easily be a flexed game for SNF game of the Week.

That post put me at ease a bit because in the middle of the defensive field we have a monster in Mosley who has a great nose for being around the football. His hands are not great but he usually does get to the ball.. You are also right in that the TE's and the short passing game could peck away at us though as they happen so fast and is a huge part of the Cowboys offense. To get Elliot outside with a short pass we will indeed need to stop him quick before he gets that power in full swing. lol

I think we match up very well.

Hopefully in a good one. Our pass-rush needs to play the game of their lives.

I've never been so hyped for a game. It's a perfect match of strength vs strength. I do believe they won't be able to run on us, except maybe a goal line TD like against the Bills. The real challenge will be to put even just a little bit of pressure on Dak to not let him do what he wants like Ben did in garbage time.

And please Flacco, show up.

If we can manage a modest run game just to keep the defense honest then we will get plenty of chances middle to deep down field. We faced a much much tougher defense when we played the Raiders. I too am very excited about this game. If for no other reason then to show we can compete and win against the best teams which we can.

Yea but the thing about that is the Cowboys don't seem to use Elliot in the passing game much, but of course it only takes one play. I think the key is getting Dak into 3rd and long situations and not allowing that offense to get on track. 3rd and long will force Dak to remain patient enough to allow routes to develop and the Ravens can twist or stunt up front to get to him.

I love CJ in the passing game. He's so smart and instinctive. I don't know how he missed that Int(probably pick six) against Ben last week. He and Weddle bring such a claiming presence to the middle of the defense and it really allows the guys on the outside to play more freely I think. I haven't watched the Cowboys much, but definitely will today, however it appears they are a big play offense that's set up by the run. So can Dak dink and dunk the Ravens all day without getting impatient? The Cowboys are far too creative in the redzone from what i've seen so allowing them to get down there might result in TDs which is bad because I'm not sure the offense is ready for a shoot out just yet.

I think we definitely match up well and I'm in the minority because I don't see this as a upset for the Ravens. I think it's a matchup of strength vs strength with that oline/running game vs the Ravens front 7. Suggs told the young guys that the Steelers game could define your career. I think this game does the same thing for that front 7. If a guy like Pierce can not only hold up well but really take it to Fredrick what type of message does that send to the front office? If Brandon Williams can continue to dominate and eat up 2 blockers, what type of message does that send to potential suitors in FA? I personally think Timmy is the leader of this dline moving forward and will be that energy guy after Suggs, he can make a huge statement as well. Suggs having 10 days between games is great for that bicep and if he can dominate Joe Thomas I love him vs anyone else. CJ and Orr are quickly becoming one of the better ILB tandems in the NFL and this game could go a long way to cement that. I'd love to see Correa play in this game to be able to use his athleticism and speed, but McClellan has been doing well vs the run too. Judon is slowly developing into a really strong piece to this front 7 and the combination of Guy/Urban has been doing a great job. I love this front 7 and I think they'll make a huge statement in Dallas. Oh and I forgot about ZDS who got his first sack last week.

I'm getting excited as if the game is today. lol

Excellent post right here. Heck, even I'm getting excited for this game. What will be in our advantage is the fact that the media will talk about the Cowboys basically all week long right after their game against the Steelers. I hope we play with house money (perhaps shades of 2008?). If nothing else, this game will determine how far away we are from contending.

Watching the Steelers Cowboys game now and i already feel good about our matchup. They are not used to our physical type of play. They look intimidated. They are a bundle of nerves along the Oline.

Everything starts and begins with the Cowboys o line. I even feel it makes there defense better because they practice against them. Our D-line needs to be ready because this is one of the most dominant olines in recent memory.

They have 4 penalties on their Oline already. The pressure up front has them jumping and the stiff D on the run has them holding. The game against us looks to be a very interesting one..

They are mauling the steelers d line right now and PFF has three players on there o line as best at there position.

Which three? Last I checked, Smith was #3, Martin was #2, and Frederick was #2. Not that it's a huge difference....

I think the Steelers are more of a fast flow defense than a stout one against the run. They have to blitz and other things to stop the run. The Ravens have the ability to just line up and stop the run. Much like they were able to do vs the Steelers, the Ravens just have to eliminate the big play and contain their speed in space.

Also the Steelers offense is taking it to that Defense, the Ravens must do the same or the pressure won't be on the Cowboys it'll be on the Ravens all game and with Dallas at him i'm sure they'll be better equipped to handle the pressure of the game.

I do agree the Ravens are better stopping the run, but we played another good o-line earlier in the season against the raiders and I don't think we got too many pressures or sacks if anything at all. They don't have the cowboys running game which is ranked 1st as well.

And that's the BIG question to me.  Can this Ravens offense stay on the field, control the time of possession by consistently moving the chains while scoring in the process?  That has been a huge part of the Cowboys offensive gameplay this season-time of possession!

Dallas rushing yards at the half 42 yd could be a good indicator - Ravens ranked 1st against the run.

They have only rushed it 9 times for 42 yards with another half of football to go. I don't know if that's a good indicator of what they can do.

The Steelers kept the Offense off the field, that is the ticket. But now i can see they are going pass crazy on Brown.

Did anyone else here the announcers say that Ben was being reigned in during our game because it was his first game back ?

As I've posted earlier, that's the ticket! Take-away the things they do best and force them into a different universe (downfield passing game) and voila! You've got a Ravens advantage that plays to our strengths.

In order to get the dallas offense off there running game is to put pressure on them by scoring with our own offense. get a lead on them fast and then you make the rookie Qb win it.

Exactly. Not just by scoring more with our offense, but more importantly - taking away their run-short passing offense and winning the deep passing game with our 1st-2nd ranked secondary. There's no guarantees to victory (chess not checkers), but that would put us in a more advantageous position to do what we do best.
