I don't see the Cowboys saying - well, Ravens got a good run D, so we should not run the ball. It will be a strength on strength play. Here's what I have to say to that ... it will be KEY that our secondary tackles well. No matter how well we play the run, there will be a time when their run scheme will free Elliot to get past our first line and someone in the secondary will be called up on to make a tackle. If the miss - that run can go to the house. We can't have that.

Boyle has a 10 week suspension, so he won't be eligible to return until the practices leading up to our game at home vs. Bengals.

I actually believe that suspensions include the Bye week, so Boyle can return to practice on Monday.  Tom Brady served a 4 week suspension and came back to play week 5, despite the Patriots having a Bye in Week 4.

Lets see what our o-line looks like.

How is the Cowboys d-line and pass rush ?

From what i have seen their pass rush is almost non existent and the rush defense is not anywhere near our level or even in the top 10

Patriots bye was last week, week 9.

Brady missed 4 games

i am pretty sure it is a 10 game suspension, not a 10 week suspension

Please start Waller over Pitta from now on and take Pitta out for Juice when we need someone to block. Waller got blown up last night by someone but at least he tried to block. We need to feed him the ball more.

Good offense vs. Good defense the good defense usually wins. Our defensive line and front 7 might prove to be a challenge for them, especially in the run game. Zeke is a special talent though. Containing him won't be easy.

Way back then I predicted this game as a loss, but I hope we can surprise some folks.

the D usually wins if our offense helps them out, by running the ball and keeping the game close. otherwise it will b a long day. the key to our success is our OL.

pitta has been a liability, there was one play where he let a defender run by him and tackle TW at the LOS, if he blocked him TW would of broke a long one. and lot of drops too.

He also missed a block or two for the run game as well.

I like our chances against the Cowboys. Football is a game of matchups and we match up well.

#1 run D vs #1 OL+RB. I give the advantage to us because we've literally shut down everyone outside 1 long run to Crowell. It will be tough sledding for them to get anything substantial going there.

And when their run game doesnt go as planned, Dak is NOT as good as he seems. Their OL gives him time, but hes not particularly good at going through multiple reads... he's more or less been given so much time that he can wait for his primary guy to separate. Hes had issues locking on to Dez and Witten lately.

Which brings me to - Jimmy matches up very well with Dez. Like our chances with that match up. Tavon matches up really well with Cole Beasley. Like our chances there. And between Mosley, Orr and Weddle I really like our chances of shutting down Witten. Which means either Dak's going to have to make some beautiful throws, or someone down their depth chart is going to have to really step up as a receiver.

Their D isnt good. No pass rush. Run D is ok but nothing to write home about. They tackle well and limit YAC, but i think we roll with the momentum into this game from an offensive stand point. We've got the talent to win matchups everywhere. Itll come down to the OL getting the RBs beyond the line of scrimmage and giving Joe enough time to hit his guys.

I honestly like our chances in almost every match up except our pass rush vs that OL. But if Suggs can do what he did against Thomas again, we're in good shape especially if Pierce, Jernigan, Judon and even Big Z keep chipping in. But, if we cant get any rush going to where we force Dak into some rushed or risky throws and get a TO or two... this is the one place i could really see them beating us in matchups. IF Dak has all day, Dez and Beasley will get open for some easy plays.

So thats it. The matchup is Suggs vs Tyron Smith.... and our other guys vs the rest of their line. We win those match ups enough, we win this game.

Very true, i watched the last 2 games and if we can keep the runs minimal and our corners can stay on their receivers for 4 to 5 seconds then he will find it a to be a very long night. He does try to force it in as it seems after a while he becomes impatient. I think we will edge them out and Flacco will have a better night passing then Dak as no one will match Wallaces speed down the field.

Dallas' offense goes through Elliott. We shut Elliott down for the most part making them 1 dimensional, we have a good shot.

This is a prime matchup in our favor. I'll take our run D over any teams run O. I don't see how Dallas beats us on the ground, where I do worry though is our secondary holding up, because Dallas runs and passes from base formations, we can't key in on either. We need to hope that our front seven can adjust on the fly on every snap, we can't play in attack mode. Our line has to stay disciplined and not think they can pin their ears back and get after the qb, they gotta maintain gap integrity, plug holes, and not get excited and try to penetrate every play because it will leave a home somewhere and it will be exploites, we can't call a heavy blitz because we gotta be prepared for a run, paas, or dump off, we need man on the outsides and zone in the middle with a 4 man rush and a read and react game plan from our LBs. safeties can't bite, they have to stay the safety net to avoid giving up big chunks on the ground and they can't give up deep balls from play action.

I think our offense will continue where they left off. The defense, for once, is what worries me here. It's a great strength on strength matchup but their run game is so good that we can't commit to their pass game and we gotta hope our secondary can win this game for us with no help.

I'm hoping on defense Pees gets aggressive and we dial up some blitzes

I think we're underestimating Dak if we think he'll eventually turn it over if we just contain, I'm more inclined to think they'll eventually pick us apart or methodically move down the field on us with their run game.

Their offense is putting points on the board week in and out. While their defense is ranked 4th for pts per game, were 6th

The DB blitzes we've sent have been successful or at least I recall a few successful ones - Powers has a sack against Pitt, Webb had one last night

Id like to see us come out, we know we can contain the run, hopefully put them in some 3rd n long situations and be aggressive and send guys at the QB, given their line and our pass rush - Dak will have too much time and he's also making plays with his legs - lets not give him the option to sit back n think - lets blitz.

I think we have some confidence in our corners to hold up individually - I'd rather dial up that pressure and live with the results than get beaten playing bend don't break

what will it be Mr Pees - we've got 10 days to plan for the boys

Our offense is still our offense. They showed that the light is beginning to come on, but still not really there IMO.

Dallas will be the litmus test for this defense. Are they really good or is it how bad our opponents have been? You know I'm not a fan of Pees but I am a die hard Ravens' fan. So I hope the defense is actually this good.

Pitta is not here for his blocking ability. He missed some other blocks in the run game as well.

I think the Pitta misses we're back to back. Pitta killed that drive and got joe smoked. I seem to recall the run block miss followed by letting Collins run free at joe while he side stepped and lifted a hand.

The key for this game is obvious, we've gotta stop their run game. If we do that then this game is very winnable, our secondary is good enough to handle their receiving corps with either Dak or Romo, Jimmy tends to do well with the big physical receivers like Dez. If we learned from our game against the Browns then we should be able to move the ball against this Cowboys D, continue with the hurry up and incorporate more crossing routes - they fit our receiving corps so well and it gives Joe an opportunity to get rid of the ball quickly with our oline experiencing more injuries, also it let's Joe get into a rhythm which is crucial since he's been having a pretty poor season post-injury. And Dixon really emerged as the go-to receiving back for us, and he ran all over the Browns defense in his limited attempts, West will still obviously get the start but Dixon is finally healthy and making plays. Given that our defense is arguably the best run D in the league and we now have an idea of what our offense should do moving forward, I think we matchup well against the Cowboys, this will probably be a low scoring affair, and whoever wins may come down to a couple of big plays by either team. I just hope that Mornhinweg learns from the Browns game - because if he does then we may have finally found the offensive identity that we've been searching for as long as I can remember.

Also, hopefully Crockett is ready to play next week, we sorely missed his blocking ability.

Saw that, too. Like it's been noted throughout earlier, It wasn't just that play. Pitta missed 3 blocks (2 run, 1 pass) during that offensive series alone. I thought it was odd so I just focused on him throughout. When he wasn't running routes he strayed away from contact more than I've ever noticed. I'm sure it'll be seen on film and we'll make adjustments to stray away from those plays (most were unsuccessful anyway block or no block).

Pitta's timely receptions contributed greatly to this win and that's his thing - not blocking.

We need the Steelers to rough up the Cowboys but we also need them to lose so we can have some breathing room when we go to Dallas. Something that isn't being talked about also, will Romo ever return this season, and will it be against us?

This is such a season defining game in a lot of ways. Locked in a tight divisonal race with almost no room for error if we want to control our own destiny.

Coming up against a true upper tier opponent for really the first time all season. I think a win gives us that confidence to finish this season strong. A loss and who knows how we respond, this is such a big game in more ways than one.

They have the 4th scoring defense with the hands down best rushing offense. Their offense is responsible for that ranking. Our defense is far more impressive considering the Turnovers and constant 3 and outs from our offense lol

Wait ... you're not saying that the topic of whether the Cowboys should start Romo once he's healthy isn't being talked about? I've heard lots of that on talk radio. What I always find stunning is when I hear the question being posed as whether Jones (not Garrett) is going to want Romo back in there. Wow.

Anyway, most people seem to think that, as long as Dak is performing well and they are winning, to try and bring Romo in would be foolish. However, if Dak has a bad game or two, that could change. Who knows what Jones is going to? I think from a health standpoint our game would be the first the Romo will even be active for. So who knows .. maybe we can make Dak have a terrible day and let the QB controversy in Dallas begin in earnest.

no doubt the offence helps, giving the defence a breather and generally good field position but I think it's pretty ignorant to just say their defence is good because of the offence.

Watched Cowboys v bengals earlier and watching v packers now - their defence seems very similar to ours - stuffing the run and good coverage from the corners, not a lot from the pass rush, coming up with turnovers

We need to play all 3 phases well and hopefully we have more points on the board at the end of the day

I originally thought this would be a win but now I have it as a loss but also leaning toward this being a win again. If there is any defense that can stop the Dallas offense and any defensive line that can stand up to the Cowboys offensive line, it's ours. Truly think we get on a roll at the right time, and yes while I think we lose to New England, I see the start of something that will end with the AFC North Title. I think we beat Dallas at their own game, and come out the win in another double digit victory.

Ravens 31

Cowboys 16

im not saying their defense is good because of their offense, im saying the numbers are misleading because of it. they are FAR from the 4th best defense in the league. what ive seen of the cowboys their defense appears to be pretty much middle of the pack, the secondary is improved, but theres still no pass rush and an average front seven in general. you put that defense on the field with OUR offense as their other half, that team would be 0-8 right now lol.
