Next Up: Ravens at Cowboys, Sunday November 20th 1300

Why can't our key players stay healthy? If it isn't the o line falling apart, now we're going to have to go without Smith? We're going to need to play a little better than we did the last time he was out (2nd half v. Giants). Against that Cowboy rushing offense, we need our studs in place. If Timmy plays, I hope he's not too limited.

If J. Smith plays, I predict a 19-17 Ravens win. 4 Field Goals by Tucker and 1 Passing TD.

If J. Smith doesnt play, I predict losing by a 8+.

I know that for the first several weeks of the season not a single doubtful player ended up playing. Has anyone noticed whether or not a doubtful designated player has made it onto the field yet?

We saw what the Ravens D looked like without Jimmy earlier this year. If he's out, the slim chance just of them winning just lost a lot of weight.

As far as Jimmy goes, I think the doubtful designation is more because he was limited for one practice this entire week.

I think the optimism from Harbaugh coupled with Jimmy wanting to play will make him active come game day.

Still doesn't make any sense though. Not uncommon throughout the league for "injured" players to sit Wednesday and Thursday, get in a limited or full practice on Friday, and then be listed as questionable.

Just don't see why you would list him as doubtful vs questionable if you actually thought he was somewhat likely to play.

Gut feeling... he probably COULD play, but they don't want him to re-injure and they've got a divisional home game next week against a team with a WR just as good if not better than Bryant that they will arguably need Jimmy even more for.

I think he sits.

I dig your perspective as well DF.  The smaller CB's need some love too! :D

Come on man I don't hate my team. I dislike what we have become playing Har-Ball. Despite Harbaugh's successes the quality of our teams look very similar to what we had during the Billick era. Good defenses and mediocre offenses. It's always the same. We have the personnel so it has to be the coaching. Everything starts at the top and seeps down from that.

I've said this a few times as well.

If Jimmy doesn't play, the entire excitement I had for this game is completely gone and will be dreading watching this.

Yeah, that's a real kick in the gut. Especially with Harbs being confident in him playing earlier in the week.

If Harbs came out and said we can either have Jimmy for Cowboys or the Bengals, I'm taking the Bengals game. Ideally, we get him for both and can pull off wins in both, but I'd rather him not come back too soon and he goes out in the Dallas game and is sidelined for the Bengals game. A tough loss nonetheless. Shareece got me scared. Lol

I'm taking him for the Cowboys. The Bengals offense has AJ Green and Eifert and that's really been it. Their defense has also been very up and down.

I don't think Jimmy is a must have for the Bengals.

The Cowboys on the other hand are the number three offense and 8-1. That's a team I'd want all my best players for.

I get that, but AJ has been a thorn in our side. I just can't stand another loss to them. Lol

this Dallas game has a big game feel to it. I'm excited regardless and I think we'll compete.

I agree, I want to see our Defense at full strength against the best offense, this is how we can really see how this defense is.  If our #1 CB is out, there is an asterisk by what ever happens in this game for our defense.

Don't worry guys... Jimmys playing.

I think the doubtful has more to do with how little he practiced than his chances of playing. Remember when we got in trouble years ago bc Ed Reed didn't practice and then we didn't list him on the injury report?

Harbs response was bc he knew he was gonna play but the NFL said if something's wrong that he can't practice they have to indicate that on the report.

Ever since then they've gone overboard to report everything to within the letter of the law and designate it appropriately.

Jimmys not missing this one. It's a tight back. That's all.

What makes them ever be honest about the injury designations anyway? Wouldn't you think there'd be a lot of gamesmanship going on and coaches listing players as doubtful knowing good and well they're going to play just to throw off the opponent on who to prepare for? Not saying that's what's going on here... Just a random thought.

That's a tough call, would I rather have jimmy for Dallas or Cincinnati?

Ideally both obviously... But on one hand you got arguably the best team in the league coming in - some would say we need all hands on deck. But it is a non conference game. On the other hand you got a lesser talented opponent in Cincinnati who is not only a conference matchup but a divisional matchup as well. Plus we all know the raven killer is lurking.

i think if there's any doubt that he may further injure something you have to play it safe and save him for Cincinnati. Look at it this way- if we end up tying with Pittsburgh and both going 9-7 or 8-8...assuming they beat us on Xmas and the head to head tiebreaker goes out the window...next up is divisional record... So that Cincinnati game could be the difference in a trip to the playoffs or going home. If that ended up being the difference and we didn't have jimmy for that cinci game BC we brought him back too early to face Dallas we'd be kicking ourselves for a long time. Still a tough call and I see both sides of it. Like I said let's just hope he's good to go for both and this is all irrelevant. I'm actually almost more concerned about jernigan who didn't even practice during the walkthrough Friday. We need that d line ready to go to stop Zeke. Jernigans been huge for us this year. If we dont have jernigan or jimmy for Sunday im afraid we're def gonna have our hands full

Beasley worries me as well but he has had a case of bad hands this season from the few Dallas games i have watched. I do hope that if Jimmy is not 100% they do not field him. I would rather see little Tavon get under Dez's skin by sticking to him like glue. I was so hoping Mosley would be healthy to patrol the middle to keep Witten quiet. But then we also have Elliot catching the ball on the outside which they love to do.

I don't think Tavon is capable of covering Dez, Dez is really physical. Tavon's quickness would be better suited to go against Beasly.

I'd rather have Jimmy against the Cowboys as well. Rather have the better matchup, I know next game is against a division rival but win this one and you're in the drivers seat for the division as the Steelers and Bengals loss to Dallas, a win here would be a huge boost.

As illogical as it may have been for me to have a good feeling about this game, if Smith is out, that good feeling has been dramatically reduced. We're going to be hard pressed to pull this off now. To protect the secondary, we're going to need a better pass rush than I think we're capable of. Therefore, we're going to be called upon to score more than we are capable of.

Not that all is lost ... but the odds of coming away with a victory take a hit without Jimmy.

Come on guys.... everyone acting like all hope is lost suddenly bc Jimmy is listed as doubtful???

First... I'm confident he'll play.

Second... even if he doesnt it doesn't mean we're going to be run over by them. Have faith and confidence in our boys.

Mo and Church are out for them, so SSS, Wallace, Aiken and Perriman should have a big advantage. Think of all the times that Brown and co we're getting behind that Cowboy secondary.... Wallace and Perriman will be burning em deep all day long.

Offense is going to have their coming out party. Remember, Marty was with the Eagles for a very long time. He knows Garret and their team better than most and will have a great game plan cooked up.

Dixon is going to have a big game and remind the NFL that Zeke wasn't the only RB taken this past draft.

24-20 Ravens win.

This is going to be one of the best game to watch this year.   I can already see some spectacular plays happening from Steve Smith Sr and few of our defense miracle.

Just few more hours before we thump the 9-1 cowgirls! Jerruh's world is done!
