Ah, you're right, I should have caught on to your meaning there; I kinda thought that was the case but don't want to put words in your mouth...and no sooner did I post that, I saw Mod 3's post where SSS owned up to it. We can just leave it at that :)

Can't help but notice that none of the usual crowd has anything nice to say about how Joe played tonight, even after a rough start.....not going to hold my breath either!

Yea don't.

By the morning we'll have plenty trying to argue that SSS is wrong and just taking one for the team bc he's a true leader and Flacco wouldn't take ownership of his own mistake.

In fact, if that doesn't happen I may lose all faith in humanity.

Meh...I didn't like that call either, but after seeing it again, it was an understandable error. It did look a bit suspicious in real time....still a bad call, but at least understandable.

Even if the contact from Tavon could have a case the push off and facemask from Coleman would at best offset.

I say no call. But if you're going to call it on Tavon I don't know how you can not call Coleman.

Thats why I feel there's no justification for it. It's gotta be neither or both.

On another note, I couldn't believe we started Ducasse at RG over Urschel and Jensen being inactive. All things considered he did pretty darn well, those two holding calls on him sucked though.

Also Stanley wasn't called for any penalties this game, and did well overall, Collins gave him a couple fits early, but after that he got it under control.

I'm going to reserve judgement on our defense, we got smoked by the raiders and Giants And Fitzpatrick had some success against us too - other than that - were beating up on the winless Browns, Jags, Redskins, Ben coming off surgery.

Lets see what we do against the Cowboys & Bengals

Good: Breshad led WRs in yards. Definitely good to see. Defense is legit and going forward I pretty much think that we have a defense that's in the elite category.

Bad: First half offense. Awful

Ugly: Lewis injury could suck

Well let's look at those teams: We absolutely shut down the Raider's run game. Redskins are an objectively great offense, at the time the Jags had a good offense with two legit receivers and coming off almost beating the packers, and it's certainly not the first time Big Ben has played coming off an injury, that doesn't excuse shutting down Brown and Bell.

I finally came out of a game satisfied.  First half offense I was thinkin' "aw heck, here we go again."  Then we actually came out after half with adjustments on offense.  Some I formation runs.  Throwing some slants to the middle of the field with your speedsters to slow the pass rush down and help out a banged up line.  Joe made some really dumb mistakes again but got in a groove with the no huddle.  And then our defense played ball the whole game.  They came out hunting from start to finish.  They wanted the ball, and they got it.

Let's see if we take what worked well and actually build on it next week.

Redskins are 5-3 and have a very good offense.

Ben coming off surgery is an excuse. We shut bell and brown down other than garbage time.

Oakland didn't torch us.

And the giants didnt do anything until Jimmy left the game. Then Odell got two huge plays on busted coverages. Jimmy had given 3 catches for 21 yds.

The defense is legit. No question. Every team has let downs but ours have been minimal and situational.

We have the best run D no wuestion. Our pass D is close and we're probably going to be #1 in total yardage now with the 144 total we just posted.

And we're generating turnovers.

If we can get a more consistent pass rush it's not even a question.

Imagine if we sneak in the playoffs or are right in the thick of it down the stretch and we get a healthy, fresh Dumervil back.

A healthy, fresh and hungry Doom at that.

Man oh man. Could be DEADLY.

All good, can always talk up our cases either way.

See what we do against the Cowboys

Kessler (rookie QB) dropped a dime on our defense in the first half, they were leading us going into the break.

No idea why they benched him. If the Browns were going to get a win eeking out a 10-9, 13-9 kind of game would have been one of the more likely scenarios- it wasn't like our offense was setting the world on fire.

anybow I digress - if we stifle the Cowboys I'll start buying into the top 3 defense

That 2nd half was the potential this team has. All 3 phases firing on all cylinders.

Finishing drives on offense and defense. Generating turnovers. Spreading the ball around. Pounding the run then sticking the dagger in with the deep shot to Perriman.

Speed and power. Pass rush and coverage. A purple wall.

Exciting.

Do you see what that Raiders OL did to the Broncos defense?  might want to rethink what you're saying.  I really hope this a building block for the OL and not a flash in the pan.  This Cowboys game will be a true test I think.

Flacco picked up his play 2nd half, but we got lucky with the Perriman td.  gotta out that up for the wr.

MORE JUDON!

Almost forgot... Suggs might be back.

The Browns are a talented team even though their record may speak otherwise. I think it's well worthy  it for Ravens fans to be excited especially with all the negative stuff I seen on this site and more. I seen Ravens fans say before the game that The Browns starting  rookie quarterback was going to have  a field day with our defense and that our offense was going to play poorly and keep the game close which didn't happen.

The offense played quite well which is encouraging because they wasn't doing that  even against poor defenses .The Browns offensive line isn't much of a weak point to my understanding but yet with the all the talk about our pass rush  being poor they sure didn't look poor in this game and I like seeing  ZSmith stepping  up with a sack. Terrell Suggs even with a one arm played great and was constantly giving one of the better left tackles in the league trouble.

We were riding a 4 game lose streak prior to last week, beat the Steelers several days ago, sit atop the AFC North and scored multiple TDs. I think the naysayers can give us optimist this one time against the Browns.

Gone are Levine, Brooks, Kendrick Lewis, Arrington

Who we got in are Tavon Young and Powers.    Doing wonders.   We did very well on draft/UDFA.

What a steal BOYS!

Is it just me or did Tavon Young make Corey Coleman VANISH? After that first catch I don't think I saw Coleman or Young again. This offense has some MAJOR young pieces. We draft well.

Youngs skill is unbelievable for a rookie. I don't get it. He's just shutting people down.

Ummmm rethinking, rethinking and yeah - I'm going to stick to my original statement - not going to jump to conclusions, would like to see what our defense does against a winning side, in their building.

And I'll reserve judgement on an offense that looked poo for a half

I'm optimistic but I'd liked to see how we perform against the Cowboys run game, a suddenly winning Dolphins side with a solid defensive front, a solid defense in the Bengals, and the Patriots offense

ill happily claim how awesome we are if we get some wins through the next part of the schedule - just tempering expectations after these 2 wins

good job by the coaching staff and the boys - did what we needed to do to right the ship - now we see if we can hang with the top sides - starting next week

Tavon Wiseau...

Get this going.

He's going to be our best CB. Very good player.

Bad: First half - looked like they were asleep out there on every side of the ball.

Good: 2nd half it looks like a light is coming on for the offense.

Ugly: Injuries. :(

Levine's still here, he's been great in his role of situational LB/S hybrid and special teams.

Good

Kenneth Dixon - Hopefully this wasn't just a flash and he continues the inspired play. Dude looked like he's who we thought he was.

Tavon Young - What can you say, he's a baller and continues to play like his hair is on fire. Steal of the draft.

The D line - This group as a whole may turn out to be the best we've had, just super impressive. The young guys stepped up and made impactful plays. Again, hopefully it continues. Just need to find ways to consistently get pressure against the better O lines.

Bad

First half.  Too much bad to list here. Nuff said.

Injuries, WTH? Who's gonna be the starting O line next week? Just unbelievably bad fortune.

Jimmy Smith's tackling - I know I'll take heat for this, but he seems to consistently avoid contact and just looks soft. Misses tackles and pushes ball carriers rather than wrapping up and tackling. I guess it's just a matter of taking the bad with the good with Jimmy.

Ugly

Smitty's gaff on the first pick - Getting frustrated, stopping the route and pushing the DB pretty much made the interception. Dumb.

Joe's second pick - Haden has Joe's number and he should know where he is at all times. It was like he didn't see him.

Pitta's blocking - He's never been a good blocker but his poor play last night in a few key instances really hurt.

Flacco's mannequin pose - Please Joe, no.   lol

It was nice for once to not be a nervous wreck for the last 10 minutes of a game, but the putrid play in the first half kinda takes some of the shine off of this win. If we come out playing like that next week we'll get smoked.

Congrats to Perriman and Waller getting their first TDs of their NFL careers.  They came in the league together and I remember one article about how they could have been the future at WR, so it's only fitting they both get their first scores together.  Both should be getting more time.  Waller brings far more to the table imo than Pitta and Perriman shouldn't be losing snaps to Aiken for any reason.

Matt Judon is a monster and should not lose snaps when Dumervil gets back.  In fact, he should be getting more now.

Michael Pierce has the potential to be one of the Ravens best undrafted rookie signings, and that's saying something with Baltimore's history.

Shareece Wright can stay inactive for all I care.  Tavon Young is balling

Suggs is letting the world know age ain't nothing but a number

The o-line played pretty well without Yanda and losing Lewis.  Stanley isn't great but he clearly makes a difference

The Good:  Making adjustments and playing better all around as the game minutes ticked.

The Bad:  Seeing more players go down injured.

The Ugly:  That great Ravens championship ring hat!

He was taking a shot. Steve didn't win and then pulled off his route. He's got to at least continue running and make a play to break it up.

He and the DB were hip to hip when Joe made the throw. If the defender could get there to make a play SSS could've gotten close enough to at least make it a tougher catch.

He straight stopped running. When you take a shot like that you're throwing the ball a good 20 yards before the spot you're hitting. Joe can't anticipate Steve getting beat and completely stopping.

QBs at times have to put it up and just give the receiver a chance to make a play. You can argue that wasn't the time/place to take a shot... but you had your most trusted target 1on1 with a young backup CB. Joe liked the matchup and you gotta give it to the defender... he flat beat Steve and made a play.

Its not entirely on Joe there.

Am so glad someone else see SSS just give up the route. A few well liked players made some bad mistakes. Pitta is not good at all as a run blocker. Weddle cannot cover and of course the SSr and you just know the guys calling the game would replay them for our pleasure.. lol
