[News] Ravens See Offensive Progress In Many Areas, But Need More

18 posts in this topic

Baltimore’s offense didn’t come out of the bye with much more firepower than before. But quarterback Joe Flacco says the unit needs to stay confident in itself and believing that it will turn the corner.

Honestly, a couple of weeks ago I was listening to "The Logan Zone" and when he was describing "the anatomy of a upset" as Cutcliffe's game plan in the Duke/Louisville game (minus the roughing the kicker play), the first thing I thought of was Harbaugh, lol.  I swear it sounds like he was describing Raven's game plan every week, keep the opposing offense of the field, run on 1st and 2nd, take whatever 3rd gives ya, control time of possession and slow the game down, one score game in the 4th, run a two minute offense and win the game, lol.  It sounds so familiar, lol.

It's not working for us at the minute but that has been Harbaugh's philosophy from day one and if you go back and look Flacco has led quite a few 4th quarter drives to get or maintain the lead. In years past though the defense was able to smoother and not let opposing offenses score - like what they weren't able to do against NYG and NYJ

The most important key to victory is continuing balance! Keep that 1:1 ratio run to pass. Last week 30 passes to 29 runs, whether 50 yrds or 150 yrds, that balance keeps T.O.P. in our favor, defense fresh and limits turnover chances.

As far as passing game, I would like to see more out of TE's, Pitta is still a reliable weapon and Waller is a good option too, not in the game as a factor last week. I want more perriman, made couple clutch catches to set up a fg last week, and just you know usual big plays from Sr and Wallace

and on another note...why didn't we wear our all black jerseys? I love them jerseys!

I'm surprised we haven't worn the black jerseys yet either. If my memory is correct, we usually wear them twice a year, and we haven't worn them yet (and Thursday is our 5th of 8 home games) with only Bengals, Dolphins, and Eagles home games left.  I would think we would wear them for one of those games, but who knows.  I was surprised we didn't wear them in October during Breast Cancer awareness month because the pink on black looks pretty sharp.

Want more?! Pass on 1st and 2nd down and pass again on 3rd down and keep it up and maybe two run plays because the pass is gotta take us there! It will take 30 pts a game to survive down the line so scoring 20pts and depending on your defense to hold teams back like the old days are gone!

All we need for us to have a winning season this year is for the offense to not give away points either through INTs or fumbles. Then we need to be able to run the ball so we can score FGs consistently (after all Tucker is the best player on offense) and an occasional TD by the running game or even a passing TD if luck would have it. Our D and ST needs to win us games for us to win more than we lose period. I don't trust our offense right now. We have 2 receivers that can get it done but the ball needs to get to them consistently.

So are you saying cold weather playoffs could be an advantage to a 9-7 Ravens North Champs.

I believe we are built for the cold weather in the way John organizes his practices. Also, Joe is a better than average QB in cold weather and as long as our running backs can get going with an average over 4-4.5 ypc, I think we'll do well. The defense is going to make it hard for offenses to score consistently and run the ball effectively against us. So, sure if we are fortunate enough to get there, I think we may actually do well.

I think we're only to wear them once a year. Think they are our alternate jersey. We should wear them for a big game. Not that they all aren't big ones. But let's wear them for the Bengals I say

You would need a microscope to see the improvements they are so small.

Now that's funny! Yea Joe threw 1 interception but the blocking is still JOKE.

If there was ever a game for the O to break out in, this is the one. Going against the 32nd ranked D has to bring some good fortune. Come on Joe, make it happen and give the O some momentum before going to Dallas.

Never Happen Ravens will probably make Browns defense look like the 2000 Ravens Defense tonight.

I doubt it will be that bad, but there is some truth in what you say. We will probably make there D look better then they are. Speaking of Defenses, our D has to stop letting there foot off the gas in the fourth quarter just because we are trying to defend a small lead.
If ever there was a game for the Offence to find some rhythm it is this Browns game. If improvements are being made they should shine tonight.

I get what you're saying about the defence but they're the only side of the ball that has shown up consistently this season. If the offence had produced a bit more against Pittsburgh then the margin would have been bigger. It's because of the defence and special teams that we've even won 4 games IMO. If the offence had bothered to turn up for most of the season so far then we'd have lost 2 games at most.
