You think it's possible that Ravens draft a QB, then when Joe's contract ends at the same time the rookie QB's contract ends, Joe is cut, and new QB takes the reigns?

Nope.

For starters, I don't recall seeing a team in recent memory draft a QB and let them sit for 4-5 years and then take over as a starter. Even Aaron Rodgers, who was drafted over a decade ago in a very different time for QBs, only say for 3 years.

The main problem with doing this is that you lose the most beneficial part of having a good QB on a rookie deal... the salary cap benefits. If you spend a quality draft pick on a guy and get him at a cheaper rate, and then he sits for four years, by year five, when you find out he's good, you now have to pay market value for him.

Its why you see so many teams that use first round picks on QBs are better off throwing them out there in the first year and just letting them learn how to swim. The financial benefits are exponentially better.

Plus, 2019 is sort of the earliest date we would look to move on. In all honesty, you're probably looking at possibly another short extension at that point. We've seen plenty of QBs getting extensions at 34 and 35, which is right about what Joe will be at that time.

In my opinion, we're married to him for at least another 5 years.

I see. I didn't look at the whole picture. And as much as Flacco ticks me off; it's not like he's the worst QB of all time. He still has upside. He has the ability to play well and win games; as we've seen before. So I guess I'll just hope he gets better.

The Ravens are 4-4 this year, with every game decided by 8 or fewer points. I wonder what our record would be if we actually had an offense?

The Ravens are four and four this year, etc., but they would be seven and one - had the coaches taken the points that were there to take by Tucker.

Post of the day. This is so true people are ignoring it.

what we really need is a QB early in next years draft to compete with FLACCO or watch whomever the VIKING let go free agency after the season, either one of those qb.s are better than flacco.after 9 years he still makes the same bonehead mistakes over and over.

I'm sorry but did you just request Sam Bradford?!?!?! Sorry but that was the best laugh I've had in a few days

Just let Joe sit a week or so to "heal", get him a strong QB coach who can get his footwork and mechanics hammered back into his skull, and in the meantime lets see if Mallett can be less of a hindrance to our awful offense than Flacco.

What wrong with giving Joe some competition? How many years would you throw away before you would do something ? Joe is DEFINITELY just going thru the motions as QB. Why I say that because he is not getting any better.First I would get rid of Juan Castillo.

I still can't believe they are still talking the Stanley/Tunsil debate. First, there is no comparison because they are playing different positions. Tunsil couldn't even beat out Albert for LT. When Tunsil subbed for him (due to injury), he had his worse day of protection this year giving up a ton of pressures.

There is no debate, we chose the right player.

You aren't able able to ascertain who is at fault for the Olines play. Your comments both past and present have highlighted your insufficient knowledge of the Xs and Os of football.

Its not rocket science who misses block. Evidently your solution is to point fingers and criticize. Juan is the only constant with this offense.

so Juan is the reason people miss blocks or get over powered at the point of attack or get beat to the edge???  Everyone on the line knows what they are supposed to do and they know how they are supposed to do it.  Stanely getting beat like a drum last week had nothing to do with Castillo.  When Urchel is in the game and was letting people blow by him like a turnstile that not Juans fault.  Missed block have nothing to do with Juan.  They players know their assignments.  This is the nfl.  They know good technique.  It is about executing. There are no coaches out there that would be able to fix the problems that we have.  No one every misses their assignment is what im saying.  If you go back and look peole go where they are supposed to go.  They just get beat.  Its not rocket science which is why i was criticizing you knowledge of the game.  It is crystal clear if you go back and look that Juan is not at fault. But im sure you will be beating that drum every week for the rest of the season.  Just like last year when you were saying our ILB are terrible at coverage and they will never learn to be good because they onjust don't have speed.  You posted that every single week.  The first two time I tried to explain to you why coverage as an ILB has nothing to do with speed but surprise surprise you posted the next week and the week after that.  You are lucky people here have such a short memory because  you contradict yourself so often and or are proved wrong..   As is the case with CJ and Orr being really pretty great in coverage this year.

Come-on who really believes the national media anymore? CBS 13 spots get real. They also said Clinton was winning.

lol. yep

Polls and Predictions. The real deal is when the game ends with a Ravens W. I purposefully skip the media air head prediction shows.
