[News] Eisenberg: Ravens Aren't Going To Just Steamroll Winless Browns

66 posts in this topic

"steamroll"- that's a classic. Is that even in the Raven's vocabulary (offensively speaking of course). From my end however, an example:
CQ1 had noticed numerous customers in Walgreens hanging around the last bottle of Maalox on the shelf, so he steamrolled them to ensure that he would get that last bottle.
Go Maalox, Go Ravens!

I'm not comfortable with this upcoming game! Somehow our offense is going to make Browns defense look like the No 1 in the NFL........Can we please have an easy game without the Maalox................PLS

My guess is that Kessler will be considered for offensive rookie of the year after he plays the Ravens. Normally they make McCown look like a HOFer.

Not so sure that it would not be in the best long term direction for this team to SIT Joe for this game and see what happens with Mallet in there. If the offense moves the ball and scores it just could be the slap up side the head that it appears that Joe needs ....

No gimmie here, the brownies always play the Ravens tough, probably has something to do with us taking their team!? At any rate I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Eisenberg's sentiments. Flacco is really suckin this year and there just seems to be no sense of urgency about this year's team since going 3-0. If we want to feel good about our team they must beat the teams thay are supposed to beat, i.e. the brownies, the bengals, the deadskins and the squeelers more often than not. Additionally, we have to protect our house; those are givens. So let's have some brownies for dessert Thu night, especially since that's the only pro football game on and there will be lots of eyes on us.

The ravens are ok but FLACCO scares me.

I have always been a Flacco fan. He progressed nicely in his career, peaking at the SuperBowl. However, since then he has stalled and is now regressing. I know there are lots of excuses, OL, running game, etc.; but even with that, he should now be at a stage where he can carry the team.

It used to bother me that he just sat on the bench while the defense was on the field. Now it is maddening. Brady, Brees, others study pictures of what the defense is doing; even though their heads are full already of what the defense is trying to do. They still believe they can learn more. It's like he does not want to be great; like he is satisfied where he is.

At this stage in his career, he should know how to draw the other team off sides. I don't think i have ever seen him successfully do that. He should be fooling people with a quick count. He should be seeing the defense and calling changes that are effective.

I don't know if he needs a really good QB coach or Tony Robbins.

Nothing and no team can be taken for granted, not the lowly 1&5 Jets two weeks ago and not the Browns now. We are not a good team ( don't want to use the word suck but it does come to mind ). We are not any better than we were last year except we don't have 15 guys on IR to use as an excuse. I loved the win over the squeelers, but if anyone thinks this team is good there in la la land.
Great job by the Defense and Special Teams, Great job on getting the win. But for the Offence.......come on man!!

I get your point that no team should be taken for granted, and I think this will be a close game vs. the Browns.  They always play us tough.  But, the Redskins were 2-2 when they played us and are 4-3-1 now

Can't believe the Ravens are 10 point favorites. This likely will be another game decided in the 4th quarter although I would love to see an "Easy" win for a change.

For me, this is the game in which Flacco has to prove he hasn't completely lost it. If he continues to struggle against one of the worst defenses in the league he's obviously not in good enough shape to play.
I know that our O-line is playing bad and that our running game is struggling, but the number of under/overthrown passes to wide open receivers and the number of ill-advised passes is killing this offense more than anything.
If this once again continues this week, by all means, give the ball to Mallett. Just give it a try.. If that doesn't work either, fine, but at least you've tried everything to spark this offense.

Every Ravens fan has to expect a close game. First, the Ravens are notorious for playing down to the skill level of their opponents, they are notorious for getting caught in trap games and they are beaten down physically after playing the Steelers. In addition, with the rules the way they are, favoring the offense now, it is almost impossible for the Browns not to score 14 points. Since the Ravens average less than 20 points a game, that seems to indicate that, if lucky, we will win by about 6. I lean more towards a 3 point win and that happening on a late Justin Tucker kick to win the game.

Flacco is not well both psychologically and physically and although he is physically capable of walking out on the field and playing, I have to wonder if Mallett isn't a better choice based on health, injuries, Flacco's fear of the rush, throwing off his back foot and his lack of production.

If both qbs were healthy, then surely Flacco wins, but based on how Flacco's skills have decreased and Malletts have increased (based on resolving some personal issues he had with alcohol off the field) that if Mallett isn't a better choice, then it is a coin toss.

I hate the fact that we are starting Flacco because we paid him 120 million. I absolutely believe that if Mallett and Flacco made the same amount of money, based on how Joe has stunk it up this year, Mallett would get a shot. There is something wrong with that. Skill and leadership should be the sole deciding factors and money should have nothing to do with it.

In Flacco's defense ( which is hard to do right now), it really is more the O line than Flacco. Yes he has mad some dumb throws under pressure, but the O line is just not holding, you can see it in our running game also. I'm hoping with Yanda and a couple other guys back from injury it should stiffen up a bit. The Browns will be a good test for us. We better hope so because we have a much harder schedule coming up. It's only going to get tougher after the Browns.

I'm glad Friday is a holiday for me! I suspect a very close game. 10 point favorites or blowout? Please!!!! Not!!! I've accepted the fact we're no longer a dominate football team. Can we compete for the division title these next 8 weeks? Let's just win this week for the 2nd time and go from there. Go Ravens!

If I remember correctly; the last time the Ravens steamrolled a team was the Buccaneers back in 2014, when Joe threw like 5 TDs in the first half. They ain't steamrolling anybody this year.

I feel like breaking into James Taylor's "Steamroller Blues!" :)

While this is a critical game for the AFC North, my guess is that to the rest of America, this is "must [not] see TV!" Hope they do away with Thursday night games after this year.

Joe has the ability. I just hope he gets back on track. Despite my earlier post, I am still a Flacco fan.

I hope he gets back on track, too. But honestly, he's been sucking on every level. He has no fundamentals. So I ain't counting on it.

Most of his "dumb" throws were in a clean pocket. He's jut not very good, and we need to accept that. I am not saying Mallett is the answer either. But Joe is literally one of the worst QBs in the league right now. And he was awful last year, before all the injuries.

it was amazing watching russell wilson last night, he threw an incredibly pretty deep ball early on in the game and it suddenly made me remember what watching flacco throw used to feel like - launching a bomb and expecting magic to happen rather than hoping that there was someone near it when the ball came back onto the screen

im a massive fan of flacco but it is becoming difficult to watch him throw off his backfoot and not step up into the pocket and of course some of it is down to the offensive line and the acl tear but some of it is just bad habits - the fact that it doesnt seem like the coaching staff are even trying to correct his footwork worries me

I really could care less if we steamroll any team. A win does it for me. We can win by one point in all of our remaining games and I would be delighted. Winning is the name of the game not stats!
