[News] Ravens Defense Flexes Its Muscles Against Steelers

a good win, a must win. But it doesnt prove a thing. The Ravens gave up two late two late touchdowns to an injured Big Ben. Nothing is proved. Brandon Williams must be resigned, the Ravens cant depend on the "potential" of Michael Pierce.

and think about this, the defense didn't spend twenty million on it's QB.our offense is still pathetic and still SHOOTS itself in the foot just about every redzone attempt and with STANLEY back, couldn't run the ball, the same knock he had in college,a #6 pick? give me a break!

I know more about the Stoolers than the generals do believe me! Stanley had a bad game but it goes along with some learning pains. The running game sputtered but they didn't get away from it which I can appreciate. Keep running the ball, keep playin good defense, keep winning and lets win division.

We gotta keep grinding to get better on offense switch it up a little. The defense needs more pressure consistently to be more effective.

The defense upped its game for three quarters. You just knew when the fourth started that the defense would go soft and the non existent offense (their nickname should be Three and Out) wouldn't move the ball. Fortunately the Steelers didn't have time to erase a 3 TD deficit. Other than that it was a normal Ravens fourth quarter performance, the same one that lost us games the previous weeks.

Imagine if you had a HOF QB, the best RB in the NFL and the best WR in the NFL on your offense and you couldn't score any points until garbage time in the 4th quarter. Talk about pathetic.

Go back to crying in your yellow rag......

Fire Dean Pees! Why would you use exotic CB & S blitzes in the 4th quarter with a 21 point lead? Playing Bend don't Break defense shut the Squealers down for the entire game and then you change what was working and give up 14 points and almost lose the game. Fire Ozzie! Bwill, Tavon, Mosley & the rest of the defense almost lost this game - that's what happens when you have the most horrific drafts in the history of the NFL the last few years - you get all these weak, Beta type, soft players that can't close out a game. Fire Harbs! If they would have kept Jeremy Butler, Q & Pollard, we would have won 158-0.*

Only thing I didn't like about the D was what looked like prevent-zone strategy in the fourth quarter to try and beat the clock, instead of just beating the Steelers O like they already had all game.

On O, remember that big football field sized play-sheet that Kubiak had? Can we drag that out of whatever storage-cage it got packed in, because our O is still looking dusty and predictable with nothing to confuse opposing D's.

That Ravens Defense doesn't have to blitz to be successful! Big ben waited on the blitz and the Ravens got to him w/o it! ! Offense gotta do better!

Somehow I knew some people would find a way to be negative and critical and crushing the steelers. Same fans too......

The D didn't get much rest late in the 4th as the Offense went 3 n out late at critical times. Any kind of a drive would have helped.

Seriously. Our D is playing this way without even getting rest between series on the sidelines. It's nice to think about how once the O gets drives going, the D should be even better

Bottom line-the offense needs to start pulling their weight and stop living on the success of the defense. If that happens, we have a real shot.

Defense is a pleasant sight!

The D played well with the exception of dropping those interceptions. They make those picks the yellow towels don't score.

The O should be paying us to watch them play.

Kubiak took that with him to Denver. Harbs pulled out the same play sheet from Cameron and that's the one they'll continue to use until the playoff's. (Playoff's, Playoff's did you just say playoff's...)

Doesn't prove a thing - it proved we do have a solid defense when they're able to play fundamental football. They held Bell under 50 yards and kept Brown quite for over 3 quarters. Offense needs to pull their heads out of the butts though.

The Steelers weren't playing well at all. While our defense did well, some credit has to go to Pittsburgh for having more penalty yards than Offensive yards.
We looked a lot like the team we were before the Bye, only Pittsburgh helped us out a lot. Ben wasn't himself by any means but still put up more passing yards than Joe.

I will mention that Webby has been looking terrible all season but Sunday, he was all over the field. I'll blast him (Or any player for that matter) when they deserve it but Webb stepped his game up for sure! Hope he can keep that kind of play going.

Maybe the effects of Elam returning to the roster. Competition always amps up the competitive nature of players.

That's not true. The Ravens went from Bend & Don't Break in the 1st 3 quarters to exotic blitzes in the 4th Quarter using CB & Safeties (See Powers sack of Ben).

Flacco acts like he doesn't have a clue to whats going on. He goes to the line and just says "hut hut hut hike" that's it. I'm really getting tired of flacco and he is the big reason why we lost 2 games out of the 4.

Ha! Was just telling someone it looked like Cameron's play list yesterday!

That was a most uninspiring win. To be doing so well and then a complete implosion and meltdown. IMHO we did not lose because it took Big Ben 3 quarters to get into a groove after missing a couple of games. Squeelers were out of sync. Bottom line is we stink; won't/don't beat the Bengals, maybe not the little brown elves on Thu at home. Was watching Tyrod Taylor last night wishing we still had him. Is there any talk about going after Norv Turner?? Lord know our offense needs a swift kick in the butt. How long are we supposed to live off of a 2012 super bowl victory?? This season is supposed to be dedicated to Clarence Brooks. He would be tearing someone's head off by now. Ironically we're in 1st place in our division but ranked behind the squeelers and Bengals in power rankings and only ahead of the bownies because they're winless. These years since our championship have been torture and miserable.

I agree. Great win, must win! But still a lot of work ahead of we're going anywhere in Jan....

Just my humble opinion but those two late touchdowns are 70% on pees and 30% on the offense.

pees really needs to stop going vanilla every 4th quarter! The first TD pees rushed with 3 players. 3! And Ben has 8 seconds to throw the damn ball. Why move away from a formula that held the steelers for zero points in 3 and a half quarters? That just beats me.

Offensively, we really need to get better. Enough with all the 3 and outs already! if we sustained one drive to kill 5 min off the clock then it's over.

It takes a man to admit they were wrong. Kidos to you and I also hope Webb continues to prove everyone wrong. Coz lord knows we need it lol

He got lucky with the play in the end zone bc he was beat and could have been called for PI
