Im still right on track.

Maybe the hapless browns can be a target to achieve this impossible goal of acheiveing this effort in todays modern passing league.

Nice meaningless stat to achieve that has nothing to do with winning football games or quality QB play in the modern NFL.

Cute though.

Well we need to win this game Thursday to have a season better than last year. I don't know how many other games we win after this Thursday. We need to win 3 out of 6 after we win this game to have a non-losing season and 4 of 6 to end up 9-7. So its tough sledding.

Well the good news is that there looks like a lot of mediocrity on our schedule the rest of the way.

Dallas and New England look like very good teams. Other than that, you've got Cincy twice, Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles. No reason we can't win 4 of those games. None of those teams has shown anything to think they are significantly better than us.

Sort of the them of the NFL this year. There's maybe 3-4 teams that I think are really good, and there's about 3-4 teams that I think are really bad.

And there's about 20-25 teams that could legitimately beat or lose to anybody in any given week. If I were a betting man, I'd say we would split with the Bengals (probably win the home game), and lose to the Steelers on the road. If we assume losses to Dallas and New England (both good teams in road games, that puts us at 8 losses. Dolphins and Eagles are toss up games that could go either way.

I don't see us finishing 10-6 at this point. I think 9-7 is the ceiling, with the floor being down in the 6-10 range. I think the 7-9, 8-8 range is the sweet spot at this point. Not going to be enough to win the division.

I do think 9-7 with some tiebreakers is enough to win the AFC North though, but I don't see a clear path to the playoffs as a wildcard at this point.

The odds would be in your favor considering you would have to go back to 12/28/2014, being the last time in regular season that we won a game by more than 8 points. Coincidentally, it was at home against the Browns with a final of 20-10.

I agree with this. I really think we have very little shot at a wildcard, but a good shot at the division. I think both wildcards are coming out of the AFC West--Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos all make the playoffs in my opinion.

Me too! Dropped a 100 on it at +430. Than included it in a 10 Buck parlay with surprisingly Atlanta being even andSeattle at +7.5. Lol

I rewatched the compressed games of every team we have left on the schedule the past 2 weeks. One bonus of the Sunday ticket, although it's nice they cut out commercials and other stoppages I wish they'd show the replays, but still nice to watch an entire game in about half a hour.

Anyways I agree with you. I'm not worried about teams like Miami and Dallas who rely extremely heavily on their run game, the Phins especially. Dallas could go either way but I just can't imagine us having as many breakdowns in coverage as their past 2 opponents. Prescott has been gifted literally wide open receivers numerous times in both games and both games he focused on that receiver given it was a designed play. And still they wasn't a defender within 10 yards. The Eagles rely on plays breaking down and Wentz getting into a groove, and TBH nothing I've seen really impresses me. He's gonna have a long day at the Bank.

Cinnci looks a shadow of the team it's had the past few years, but well still prob split with them and I can imagine a healthier Ben at home can get it done over us. I'm not too sure I even want to watch the NE game, how they can still blow out teams even without Brady and Gronk earlier this year, just ridiculous.

Funny thing is 9-7 will prob win the division. Been a long time since the AFCN looked this bad.

Not to be a negative Nancy but to remind our more cocky posters, not that long ago the Dolphins had one win and one win only.

See if you can guess who gave them that one win...

This is true. I also rememer they hosted a playoff game the following season. Guess who gave them that loss.

But I understand what you're saying though.

As for your post I agree, I never saw the Browns being that bad. You have a shutdown corner, good pass rushers, ability to stop the run, or should say the players to do such. It's just mind boggling that with the players and talent on the roster it can't be put together. Guess the carousel of coaches and no one competent being able to set a way and draft and stick to it?

They're not "bad" in the traditional sense.  They have some talent, mainly on the offensive side of the ball.  They just have a LOT of 1st/2nd year players and are a very young team.  I don't really think coaching has much to do with it for right now, just a young and inexperienced team.  Hopefully, some playing time will just eventually help them get better.

The secondary is awful. Haden has lost it, Tramon Williams is old, and the safetys are very young.

I wouldn't say Haden has "lost it," but he hasn't been himself almost all season because he's not 100%.  He played well last week against the Cowboys and I expect he'll continue to trend upward.  The rest of your statement however is pretty spot on.

Haden has been injured. It is just like Jimmy Smith last season. If a corner is not 100% at a reactive position you are going to get beat. It's not a coincidence Jimmy Smith is shut down this year and in 2014 but last season was bad because of an injury.

The Browns have a ton of talent to build around. People act like they have zero talent at all and that is not true. They have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL along with some of the most talented up and coming wide receivers. Josh Gordon is said to be gone after this season but they still have Pryor who has been super dynamic for them this season, Coleman who looks to be a very good rookie, and Hawkins is 4th on their depth chart and he honestly is better than a lot of people give him credit for. Young pass rushers are also starting to do well for them.

The Browns' record is misleading. They are a young team with a ton of talent, once they get a solid quarterback they could be a very dynamic team in a Hue Jackson offense. If they had a good quarterback they could be an 8-8 or even a 9-7 team. A few drafts away and the Browns may be a scary team in the AFC North. Especially when it looks like they will have a bunch of top picks in this coming draft.

Joe needs to kick over some rocks and find some offensive consistency this game. Too many goose eggs in the offensive box score over the last 3 games. Time to right the ship.

True, the Browns are a halfway decent QB from being a actual contender. The problem being they invest in boom or bust clowns like Manziel and RG3. Look what the Chiefs have done with Alex Smith, you're bonafied game manager, Or the Vikings picking up Bradford, etc.... this is the AFC North, and games start getting really cold at home. Honestly I think the Bills screwed up with Taylor. His type of play needs a dome. Anyways, the Browns need a guy that doesn't make stupid mistakes and works the play action. That team is built to run the ball and a D to control the clock and shut down another teams top receivers. They really need to use the future top draft picks to get the best RB on the board and a chain moving TE or WR to compliment what they have already and add a proven vet QB. Do that and it's really gonna get interesting next year.

Yeah, I'm excited too.  I love night games because I have 2 young kids, so day games I watch with a lot of distractions.  Tomorrow night I can actually sit and watch the whole game because they will be in bed before it starts!

Short week probably does suck, but it came at a good time for the Ravens, right after the bye.  And then they get another mini bye before flying into DFW.  Actually sets up pretty nice.

Browns will be without their starting CB opposite of Haden. If our offense doesn't get poppin' this game, not sure they ever will this season.

What's up with Yanda? Saw he's doubtful

Obviously still has shoulder problems. My guess is he didn't feel great after Steelers game and they're deciding to give him rest on a short week.

Would start to feel discouraged if he wasn't back for the Dallas game since he will have two weeks rest at that point.
