Week 9: The Good, Bad and Ugly vent thread

408 posts in this topic

As we all know, who's the real  fan and who r the fake Ravens fans....

O-line starters are back and we won; don't think it's coincidence.  It's just the fact that haters couldn't swallow...

Never complain much about defense cuz they've been playing like top 5 defense in the league.

Offense need some work but still believe they will get it done...

PS: A win against divisional rivalry and top in the division aren't enough for a fan to be happy? you aren't the fan!......

The Waiting for the Lightrail post:

The Good: First 3 quarters.

Bad: 4th quarter and Pees' prevent defense with 10 minutes left. We had a 21-0 lead, and almost blew it in one quarter. Whether it's offense or defense, coaching will be our number one issue.

The Ugly: That onside Kick by the Steelers.

Stanley was pretty bad today. He had what, 4 penalties? Gave up 2 sacks to old man Harrison? He needs to step it up. But the defense was on another level today. Hope they can bring that intensity every week.

Yeah, it's almost like he's a rookie who hasn't played in five weeks.

we won because of a botched punt

Hey guys.  From Sami this is a positive thread.  Thought for sure he'd say our defense sucked today. Smh

Thoughts...

1. Defense is top notch. We desperately need to get to the QB more though. Ben had way too much time on a majority of his throws... Just sitting back there scanning the field. That puts way too much pressure on our corners.

2. Even though are run game was pretty awful, I'm happy we stuck with it. Don't care how productive it is, just keep handing it off. Be consistent.

3. Red Zone offense still needs work. Left too many points on the field in the first quarter.

4. Too many penalties. Rough first game back for Stanley. But regardless, happy to have the o-line all healthy and working together.

5. I called fo T.Young to get the start early in the season after Wright was getting torched. Glad it's finally happening. He's small, but he plays big. He has energy and speed... Things we need.

They outplayed the opposing offense.

and because for one play the steelers secondary fell apart. Offense didn't look good at all and  the stellers secondary isn't known to be good and their best corner Guy was inactive.

Good: Judon, Pierce, Bwill, Secondary, Special Teams, Wallace.

One of my favorite things I've seen from Young so far is his ability and willingness to make a tackle in the open field.  His coverage has been very good as well, but he's been a big part of forcing those punts with his tackling ability.  It's odd to see that from a small guy, but he's super feisty.  He plays with attitude, and that's a more than welcomed addition to this team.

I saw consistent  creative plays being dial up by Marty M but the execution wasn't there. Joe Flacco seem more comfortable in the pocket in my opinion and it was nice seeing Perriman making some plays here and there. Of course  there still more work to be done but it's just the little things that got me  excited .

LOL

Have to say the real ugly for me today was the abysmal TV coverage and the announcing crew.

The good: First 3 quarters. Wallace, Run defense shutting down Bell, Jimmy, Peirce, Tavon ( made a nice tackle on Bell, this kids for real) Judon, Bwill tip/ jerni interception, Tucker, 2 Pt conversion to Steve( could've potentially saved us)  ANOTHER crucial block and the scoop by Moore. ( which in the end proved to be  the difference)

The bad: Fourth quarter. Couple easy dropped interceptions, Penalties stalling drives yet again. Phantom holding call on Orr that led to their first td. Awful call. No running game against weak run defense.  Running the ball out of shotgun on short yardage situations ( so predictable and doesn't give the runner any momentum) Not being able to feel comfortable with a 21-0 lead in the fourth. No killer instinct and playing NOT TO LOSE instead of playing to win. That whole fourth quarter was us just holding on for dear life and hoping they'd run out of time. One first down on that last drive we had  ball and it was game over. We looked scared to even hike the ball. Throw a first down to steve and then you can sit on the ball and leave the feild 21-7 without having a heart attack. That was just sad. The steelers just simply ran out of time. I think having a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter made our guys let up. A shutout  would've been lovely, too much to ask for. But hey I'm not complaining.

The ugly- whatever that onside kick was. Gonna be on "cmon man" for sure.

Can't believe after the last 4 weeks were back in first place with the Browns on deck. Def can't sleep on em though.

The Ravens need to find a way to trick Moore into thinking when he's on the field during offensive snaps that it's actually a punt block team. He's lights out recovering blocked punts.

Yeah anyone who has been a Raven fan for more than a minute knows Flacco came back broken from his injury, mentally. He seemed to be shaking that off a bit this game, though he still isn't back to himself.

What drove me nuts was how often we actually converted great plays on first down to put us in 2nd and 2's or 2nd and 3's but still couldn't get the first downs.

Instead of running power and getting the 2-3 yards we kept trying these stupid unbalanced formations with 3 WRs to one side and Hurst in as TE on the other... and then we ran it to Hursts side every time.

Pitt figured it out the first time we ran it, and then we played right into their hands another 3 or 4 times.

Those were great opportunities to get drives going. If we can get 6-8 yds on 1st down that's a win all day. But then we out think ourselves and try these stupid trick formations.

Trust the backs to fall forward for at least 1 yd, get the 1st and go from there.

We did a great job on 1st down all day which was a huge improvement. But now we've got to take advantage of those opportunities. That alone will get this offense rolling in the right direction.

This game is so easy to predict. The Steelers have Bell and Brown, and Shazier. We have diddley.  There is no way we can compete with their talented roster and it wouldn't matter if our entire team is healthy.  Steelers win this game without Roethlisberger who will start the game but wont finish it.  27-17 Steelers

Funny, looks like the like the Ravens won it 21-14 although I am sure you can go on the Steelers forums and whine about the loss there

Good - Tucker and Koch ELITE - ST Outstanding - Defense (We're back!!!!!)

Bad - Need more creativity in our offensive run scheme but, it should improve with more play from guys just getting healthy again. Offense: Never take your foot off the gas to the final whistle (would have, should've been a blow-out).

Ugly - Joe's knee brace. I'm thinking it's out for the rest of the season.

In the words of Phat Joe, "Nothing can stop us we're all the way UP!!!":29:

Well Pees rolled out the prevent in the 4th and it did what it does best - gave the opposing offense life. Our streak of one score games continues because of that. That defense literally says: "hey, have whatever you want deep middle, we won't fight you for it! :)"

And it's pretty ridiculous that we had three dropped interceptions and the one actual interception was by Jernigan. Mosley, Webb, and Weddle have worse hands than Jernigan this game.

As always, no pass rush. Judon got the only sack and it was a clutch one to give him credit but he can't do it himself.

Offense can't move, as always. Stanley's first game back was "less than stellar"

The good - run D was fantastic with Mosely and Suggs back. Secondary did well until we literally handed them 50 yard cushions.

Powers had the first sack

Young played great . The guy looking like a steal so far and I didn't expect him to cover Antonio Brown so well but good job for him.

Moore is definitely standing out on ST.  The returns are obviously great, but he's doing very well as a gunner, too.

And although he hasn't played much on offense so far, I actually like some of what he's done.  The drops suck of course, but I like how much trust they put in him early.  He should be a solid 4th WR for us next year.

I agree. We also need to retool the line and maybe find another WR to replace Steve.

We're not that far away tbh.

Indeed

I'd rather a trade or make a move thru FA for a wr, though, I'm not sure who's coming out in he draft.  Just don't trust the FO decision making when it comes to [drafting] that position.

Disappointed that even after changing OCs we still are not committing enough to the run. I mean obviously the OL plays a big part in that, but you can't be one dimensional AND have a crap OL

An elite center, a good receiver, an explosive pass rusher, and one more very good corner is what we need.

We cannot sign bwill this offseason. Instead we need to use some cap space for this. Take chances with Michael pierce who has played very well. Go after a stephon Gilmore if he hits the market, or Michael Floyd.

can anyone sit here and say, looking at this schedule that this team has shown it can beat the teams left?
