I know LiT likes to rip them, but these Browns are about to start getting very good very fast here soon. They've got way too many high draft picks not to.

I agree. And with hue at HC I think it's cause for concern. I worry that if Cleveland starts to finally show life then they could really ramp up fast, they've been due for the turnaround for so long and they finally have a stable FO and a starved fan base.

Bad teams don't just stay bad forever. At some point, something gives.

just watched 2 games(or short versions) of tabor. one holding call, 3 more blatant holds that somehow went uncalled and would have resulted in huge separation without the hold, one of them was a catch anyway

2 blown assignments, one leading to a late first down and on the other the qb was looking at another receiver but tabor allowed his man to get a good 10 yards deep long before the release.

he had very lockdown coverage for most of it, but im seeing some really shaky stuff for a nfl corner. those holds are far more likely to get called in the NFL, and he doesnt seem to have the best awareness, and if he has to hold receivers who will never sniff the NFL on simple breaks then he will get toasted by the likes of brown, cooper, cooks, thomas, hilton, etc. etc.

i honestly do not like tabor very much at all, i like his fluidity and his size, but i dont see what makes him a better prospect than jimmy was coming out, i think jimmy smith blows him out of the water as far as college tape goes, more physical, better length, better top end speed(or so it appears) and less holding despite being more physical. i think tabor is destined to bust.

Despite not winning a game yet, I actually think the Browns are headed in the right direction with the new front office they put together.  They have a ton of picks, and you can tell they're not in the "draft a QB and hope it works" camp like the previous regimes.  They'll be patient.  If there's a guy they like, they have the ammo to move up.  If not, they'll stay put and fill in the rest of the team.

I agree, they are headed in the right direction. If they can grab Allen in the first and Watson or Falk in the second, they're going to become a force to be reckoned with. Hell, if the Bengals don't turn things around, I can see the Browns passing them in the division next year.

Yeah, I actually believe their best players are their youngest ones (Thomas aside, and Haden if he wasn't always injured), so they're definitely looking up.

How do you guys feel about S Jordan Sterns from Oklahoma State? I was watching the Oklahoma State v. Oklahoma game and this guy at SS was sort of playing that SS/LB hybrid role and stood up Perine at the goal line and he was the one that knocked Dede Westbrook out of the game - but that his was pretty much textbook, led with the shoulder and hit him hard. I don't know much about the guy, was just watching that game and he stood out on a few plays, I don't really know how he is in coverage but he's got 3 ints on the year and 4 pass deflections.

Of all the press corners tankersly is my fav. Hes probably the most well rounded out of all of them and most importantly knows how to locate the ball. He doesnt bite on double moves either like those gator boys like too and hes not as grabby and turns his head for the ball unlike Humphrey. Hes done a phenomenal job in coverage against ford and hodges in thr acc championship game.

Shortened, but sounds like a lot of the concerns I had about Trae Waynes coming out. He's actually doing really well in Minnesota (or was for a stretch of games), so Tabor may need the same treatment of sitting on the bench and rarely playing. Won't happen in Baltimore and there are corners I'd rather have, but maybe a team like Cinci could take him.

Ya but they arent your prototypical 6-1 190+ press corners. They are more cover corners in my eyes. They can play man and zone but their biggest strength isnt their press ability like it would be for tank, humphrey, or wilson.

Tankersley is one I expect to fly up boards as the draft gets closer. I think he's viewed as the top corner in the second round, but I think he sneaks into the first. If not, I'd like the Ravens to trade up for him.

Maybe I'm just not obsessed with press corners like many seem to be. I like fluid and explosive guys with great awareness, mirroring, and ball skills. I'll take a 5'10" guy with those traits(Desmond king) over a guy who big and physical just for the sake of press.

Also, Sidney Jones can press cover lol. He is that prototype size. And he's also by far the most fluid and technically sound "big" corner in this class.

I just think the ravens like those big corners early in the draft. Tavon was an exception because he plays bigger than his size and actually comes up in run support.

I really like jones but at 182 hes not really big. He has good size and length but he doesnt have the strength to play press like tank or Humphrey. Press corners are great to have when you have a good pass rush. They take away any quick throws and allow the pass rush to get there. Its just the type of defensive scheme we run that asks for those kind of corners. All we really are missing is another press corner and young pass rusher to reach the true potential of this defense.

Ya. Im all in on tank. Hes really the prototype at corner that we look for. I like him a lot better than wilson and tabor. My verdict is still out on Humphrey. Im just waiting to see tanks 40 time, other than that his tape speaks for itself

Agreed. It's great when a guy has both size and fluid motion, but I don't like reaching for someone just for his size. Just look at how good Tavon Young is doing when he's nowhere near the size people usually want.

Yeah it's just overrated since those guys are very niche and typically they can be easily schemed out with simple presnap movement. Jimmy Smith is special because he actually does really well against smaller quicker guys which isn't typical of 6'2" corners. Too bad he can't stay healthy, they're all freak injuries so I don't hold it against him, he was certainly uoset Monday night because he KNOWS he's the guy we depend on most and he wants to be there to help us win, there's no way you can fault the guy for anything. But after his latest injury it's definitely time to address the cb spot, we can't rest the fate of our defense in a guy who has had 1 healthy season in 5 years.

I meant our current team's depth, not the draft.  This is the deepest draft at CB in a long time.  Sorry for the misunderstanding there.

That means no cb till round three

Unless Ozzie nabs a top tier pass rusher or interior lineman in the first round or two then I will have officially lost all faith. Those are the two positions we lack depth and we all know the ripple effect when Jimmy goes down.

Sidney Jones is my prospect crush so far this year.  Watching him is a joy.  Now, I'm fully aware how creepy/awkward this may sound but... I love his hips.  They're among the smoothest I've seen in a long time.

It's what really made me like Desmond Trufant as a prospect.

If we don't go pass rusher he's the guy I want and if for some reason he slips I'd trade our third round picks to move up and get him. He's probably my favorite realistic prospect

Of course, this was back in November, but he still seems lower on Jones than most.

He's the real deal. There's no doubt many of our issues would be solved by drafting him because he could solidify the secondary even if Jimmy gets hurt. I'd even prefer him to most pass rushers. I've heard Tim Williams may drop to the 2nd...imagine getting both Jones and Williams? Whoa.

Great question and I'm not sure. I haven't read any mocks yet anywhere since it was a busy year for me.

Bookmark this if youd like, Sidney Jones goes top 12. The other cbs are PURELY sec hype, wilson, tabor, humphrey, all have plenty of question marks but are backed by sec hype, therefore media outlets call them the top guys.

No pro scout in their right mind would see any of them as a better corner than Jones. We won't have a shot at this guy, which is really depressing to me.

You promise not to go and change your mind later? I only ask since this is such an absolute, definitive statement and we all know only a Sith deals in absolutes.

I've been known to flip flop a lot but this is one I really don't see me going back in lol. I might change my tune about wilson but I just can't see myself changing my mind on tabor at all.

Pretty sure media outlets see Desmond king as the top corner.
