[News] 5 Things To Watch vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

13 posts in this topic

The Ravens need to get to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, slow running back Le'Veon Bell and limit receiver Antonio Brown. Baltimore can take advantage of a returning healthy offensive line and some new wrinkles under Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

My 5 things down and dirty.

O-Line - Give Flacco the time he needs to be successful. Pundits say he needs help around him to be successful but with a good O–Line he has always been good enough with limited resources.

Pressure - Any QB is less productive when pressured. qBs just coming off knee surgery are less mobile and more susceptible to the rush (and re-injury).

Coverage - After re-watching the Bills game, if Wright can refind the form he had during that game, we will have what we need in the back end. Let's hope Elam can finally replace Webb.

Run Game - We can't have a 6 attempt 10 yard game. With the O-Line back, West well rested and Dixon get healthier everyday we need to stick with the run even if it means three and outs. Eventually we will break a couple against this defense and they will have to commit a safety to the box.

Flacco - Joe needs to be able to get over the fear of hanging in the pocket and stepping into his passes. A healthy O-Line helps with that but there was a play in the last game where Joe thought he had pressure from his left that didn't exist and he looked like a fool falling over to his right and throwing the ball into the turf when no one was near him. Joe needs to find the inner fortitude to lead this team. No more excuses like that was the play that was called. If it's a bad call change it. Stop waiting for everyone else to do your job for you. You are the QB, get people moving to the line and run in the two minute, change the play if it's a bad play. Move more. If there is no one in front of you then run. Start being a leader and stop being a little mealy mouthed whiny kid and step up and start being a man and taking control.

Big ben is waiting on the blitz to get one on one and the Ravens don't need to use it! The D Line will get to him just don't blitz and Joe needs to step up and not depend on the run to win this game for us! Every position on this team feeds off the QB so he needs to stop being average and become "RELENTLESS" or we got the wrong guy leading us! Ravens are "RELENTLESS"!

Does Joe play well? If he does, then the Ravens have a chance. The Steelers defense is not good. If not, it will be a long day.

Do the returning players to the offense line improve the protection and run game?

Will the Ravens at least try a balanced offense? If not, the coaching staff needs to go. In every winning season the Ravens ever had, there was a solid run game.

How does Pees defend? Is he conservative or aggressive.

Who plays well on the Ravens? I am looking for these young players to step up. I want to see them make plays to be encouraged for the future. After the much talked about 2 hour plus team meeting, will the team be more disciplined, show fire,

Watch Brown make Jimmy look like he does not look like the second highest paid player on this team come next year as Jimmy contract is setup.

Lamest comment I've seen in a while Chuck.
First of all, Brown can make ANY defender in the league silly.
Second, talking about what people are getting paid in the future?? Esp. when the NFL is a year by year business. Not to mention he very well might be our best defender on the team next year.
And how easy it is it to call out bad contracts years after the fact. I agree that it was a risky move after the foot injury, and we paid him a lot, but it was a risk the front office took. He is playing very well right now and frankly we would have a worse record without him. Also, I remember him shutting down/severely limiting Megatron a few years back when Megatron was in his prime. So he was seriously ballin for a while and the contract did come from somewhere.
AND, if we have safety help over the top, like we should every play on Brown, I think Jimmy will do well against him.
Bottom line is Julio, A.J., and A.B. can/will make any DB look stupid if they're on an island against them.
Thanks for another negative post though

Historically, we are the one's that make Brown look bad, with or without Jimmy.

One last thing to watch. Will the Ravens fans let Steeler Nation take over M&T bank stadium? We can't let that happen no matter the stakes or records.
