I've watched so much film on Matt Elam at Florida. It's extremely hard to believe that he's a bust. I know he can still play. All of a sudden he can't tackle or cover. We are not asking him to be Ed Reed. Just be a solid safety. I'd rather see Elam then Webb all day long!

Will Davis has been horrible since returning from knee injury. He's clearly not even close to the same player he was before. So, how is releasing a hurt player a bad decision? SMH

I think Elam would have developed a lot better if they had just started him at SS, his native position, from his rookie year onward. They started him at FS, then the next year messed around with him being a slot safety and corner. Really, really stupid stuff. He has been played out of position his entire Ravens career, so it's hard to label him a "bust", even though most people do.

I would honestly say move Weddle to FS, and let Elam try his luck at his actual SS position, even if just for a few games. What can it hurt? Webb has been incredibly lackluster at FS, and in general, I'm sorry to say, I'd rather invest long-term in Elam, who seems like a humble guy, and might well take a reduced deal to stay in Baltimore long-term, over Webb. Webb was once a good corner, but he's honestly done. We need to move on, and I'm not sold on Elam being a total "bust" until I see him actually play several games at starting SS.

It's kind of hard to make that claim, when the Ravens have never really started him at SS where he belongs. He is a not a fast, rangey cover safety like Ed Reed. He's more of a Landry/Pollard type of player, and SS is where he belongs. To claim that the "NFL is too fast for him", when he has honestly been misused since day one and played out of position by the Ravens, is a bit of a stretch.

No offense, but I find it quite humorous that anyone actually thinks Will Davis is an upgrade on the roster of Matt Elam.

Will Davis has been the last cb on the field this year and has been slow to heal due to his 2nd acl tear.  He had a decent game last year against Brown, but that's it.  Let's not make him the 2nd coming of Revis.

cutting him was the best choice we could have made.  Elam was looking pretty decent in preseason before injury.  He looked good in 2015 offseason as well.  Yes, it's only practice, but give the guy a chance.

The fact that they are grasping at Elam coming back as "news" and some boost to the roster should tell you all you need to know about the state of the ravens and their strength of secondary. The game is passing Ozzie by and he or the scouting staff cannot recognize pro level talent any more, or the coaching staff is not developing their potential like other teams. They have been completely whiffing on safeties for years and disregarding their need to get at least 2 corners for the past 4 drafts or more. Kendrick Lewis, Webb, Brooks, Elam, Will Hill, Nick Perry, Darian Stewart, and maybe Weddle have all done little to nothing and that is just at 1 position. The front office is fumbling around all over themselves with no clue what they are doing.

I'm with you. Elam is my least favorite Raven of all time. I think he will fall over his two feet again, and again, and again. While maybe brushing his shoulder against somebody in the process. The guy has been SO bad on the field. Cost us a chance at another ring. Can't beileve he's still a Raven.......maybe his play has changed, but I don't see how that would be the case. Esp. after sitting out from injury for so long. Webb and Elam should not be on the field for us anymore

I wish every post said was yours says. I can't believe this guy is still a Raven. It makes me feel embarrased. He already cost us a shot at a ring with his "I think I'll just close my eyes and dive at the ground instead of wrapping up and ever making a real tackle". He can't cover at all either. All he does is help the other team. Literally. Now he's been out with an injury forever too. Can't believe Carl Davis isn't coming back now cuz of the Front Office is keeping this bad football player on our team after countless failures with zero success. It's a shame. Elam has 0% chance of tackling Brown or Bell. Ever. There's my rant. I don't usually do that but the Elam+Front Office continuing to blow it for years= one big rant. Not to mention I disagreed with you on so many topics to start the season, that it's nice to finally agree with you 100%

Definition of a bust. I don't feel bad for him either. The guy made millions playing football and someone else will give him a chance. I just CANT BELIEVE he's still on our team. "pissed off and embarassed emoji here"
