CB Will Davis Waived

I'm in no way a Davis fan but, I don't see the reasoning in letting go experienced depth in this system for no experience in this system. Especially considering we are injured at the position and another injury during any game could put us in a bad way. I think the FO is taking a big risk until Harris becomes familiar with Pees' defense.

It sounds like it was his recovery (or lack thereof) from his second ACL.  It was obvious that in the preseason, he didn't have the same ability or quickness in his movements.  At the time, many assumed it was just him needing to get back into the swing of things, but the speculation is that it never happened.  The only game we saw him in for an extended period was against the Giants, and you could say that held true.  It seems like we were hoping for more, but the recovery never came, unfortunately.

With that being said, it is a tough time for a new guy to come in.  He's probably inactive for the next 2 games at least.  He definitely won't be able to play tomorrow, likely only making it to Baltimore today.  Thursday is a stretch as well on a short week.

I have to kinda agree with Militant it would be nice to have a cornerback with size. I thought it was ashame when Sheldon Price went on i.r because he look good in preseason and of course his 6'2" height intrigued me.Since Shareece Wright is hurt that  leaves The Ravens with  J. Smith,T. Young, and J.Powers as their main starting cornerbacks and i'm not even sure if Young evens plays because he suppose to be dealing with a concussion. The Ravens don't really have a  healthy true outside cornerback  that they can trust besides Jimmy Smith  right now and I'm aware that their cornerback Robertson Daniel is 6'1" but I have no knowledge of him.

Height isn't everything when it comes a corner or any player but right now The Ravens have bunch of nickel corners and one outside corner in Jimmy Smith. Matt Elam may actually play on sunday so that's another nickel corner added to the mix. One of our 5'10 or less corners are going to be covering  Steelers Wr Sammie Coates who is 6'1"  and can be quite dangerous so that's some what concerning.

Yeah, it would be nice. It would also be nice to win the lottery.

Hey, why don't we go get Rashaan Melvin back? I mean, he had size! Sure, he tripped over himself, had no recovery time, no agility at all, and was completely lost in man or deep zone coverage, but at least he was tall.

Agreed. It just surprises me that hey would waive experienced depth with no backup unless they feel they can make that up with Levine and Elam, if they activate him.

To be fair, if Lewis-Harris was a guy we wanted, we had no choice but to do it now. Someone had to go, and I think Davis was going to be in trouble today anyways with Elam's supposed return.

He's the colts 3rd or 4th cb currently

Ravens elevate Matt Elam to active roster. Waive CB Robertson Daniel. Ravens also waive TE Nic Jacobs from practice squad.

Interesting choice. Only leaves us with 3 true CBs for tomorrow unless Lewis-Harris miraculously plays. Guess we'll be seeing some Elam and/or Levine if needed.

LOL, what's does that say when your back-up safeties are better CB's than your depth CB's.

Whats that got to do with Will Davis?

Since the Bengals have a lot of depth at CB this could be a good move. Sometimes you just get bumped by the numbers and right now they're 6th best could be better than our 3rd best.

On a topic about a Raven player that has just been released, it's hardly outrageous to mention another former Raven that has been released.

Thanks for your input though

Well right now we can waive any player and it wouldn't shock me, at least on offense. That is how badly the entire offense is playing. We could afford to lose any player on offense and not miss a beat, at least the kind of faint beat we have.

Nobody is saying that he's good. Wright sucks less than Davis does. Remember that davis and the gang let odell run around them for 222 yards and two touchdowns. If Davis was sticking Crabtree, Crabtree would have made a play on him every single time. Im talking 10 catches for 200 yards and 4 touchdowns. Davis looked like a bum signed off the street to play football for the first time ever in that Giants game.

You don't know that, but what you do know is that he burned Shareece to essentially win the game. Also, Odell can do that to anybody, I don't care who's covering him. I would still rather have Davis.

For the first time in a long time, I'm excited to see Elam take the field.

i'm one of those guys that got excited about Davis after the Steelers game. But the injuries took at toll I think.

You're probably more likely to see Webb slide out to CB and Elam man the safety position I think.

I think they wanted to bring him back to the PS but the Ravens and Dolphins put in claims. I don't think much will come out of it but if he can be a good ST guy than great.

Was Will Davis the WORST player on the team? Why waive him? it seems to me, you cant have enough healthy db's on the roster, as long as their name isnt Frank Walker

We signed another healthy DB, so we didn't lose anything. We also brought one off of IR.

We swapped out depth for perceived better depth. I don't see what the problem is?

Has nothing to do with whether they are the worst player on the team or not. That's not how rosters work.

Exactly. Will Davis was solid last hear, but clearly was a shell of himself this year after the injury. It was clear he wasn't working out, so why not try someone else?

We gave up a draft pick to get Davis, why do that unless you are desparate for dbs. And if you are desparate for dbs, get rid of another position, not Davis who you spent a pick on, 3 negs later

Just because you made a move @ draft doesn't mean it'll always pan out.   We don't have an obligation to keep him if he cannot produce.
