The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians’ combined 176-year drought proves it’s really, really hard to win a championship. The Ravens’ won two Lombardi Trophies in 16 years, which amounts to a gold rush.

Excellent article. This really puts things in perspective. It is easy as fans to get spoiled when your team is having a good run. Wins and championships shouldn't be taken for granted.

We don't expect to win the SB every year and I don't think even the Patriots believe they will. However, we do expect our team to contend with a winning season every year and that's where the rub is, going from being spoiled with winning season to now having to live with the specter of years of losing seasons... it isn't just about winning titles.

While this article makes a really valid point about the difficulty of winning a title, it does try to shift our focus by equating fans' expectations for a winning season with winning the SB. It isn't the same thing in my view. It's almost a bait and switch.

Well I feel the Ravens should have four SBs because Troy stripped the ball outta Joe's hand and that should have been our SB and that very very very bad pass against the pats was another! This is a good football team and they can get their share and when the opportunity comes you gotta jump on it because both the squeelers and pats got SBs courtesy of the Ravens! And this year could be another I don't care what others think the only team that can beat the Ravens are the Ravens! Now we should be 6-1 but the Flock is divided some for Joe and some like me against Joe because he isn't playing up to his contract! Joe is the only QB that can sit brady and big ben down but he lacks what they have that Fire like Brady and that Leadership like Big ben! I said Joe is the LeBron James of the Ravens and thought he could get five rings like Kobe! Smh what happened to Joe "Iron Man" Flacco my Gunslinger?!

For some reason when I first saw this article I was thinking it was going to say something to the effect of how the Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA talked to MLB and the Indians on adjusting the time of their basketball game so it won't start the exact same time as the World Series. Of course I'm referring to a couple years ago when the Ravens and Orioles couldn't come up with a solution to have a football and baseball game both being played on the same day. Granted this is the NBA and MLB instead of the MLB and NFL but I still feel cheated that we didn't get that game here to this day eventhough it was years ago.

A ring should never betaken lightly. I'm glad for our two in just under two decades, and teams that took forever but eventually got one convinces that we'll get another if not real soon.

ACL/MCL tear happened followed by an erosion of confidence followed by bad decisions trying to thread the needle on throws without planting the foot firmly. Too many chances taken, too many INTs' thrown and too few TD passes thrown. He's playing like a guy who's low on confidence due to injuries. Also, his protection is shaky at best and the coaching has been atrocious. I don't think we get that Joe back anytime soon. We better temper our expectations of Joe carrying this team to a SB win. It isn't happening. The rest of the team has to step up like they did in 2000. The defense, RBs and special teams have to carry this team till Joe is playing well. But, they are not playing all that great either, the special teams I mean.

You can never take winning a championship lightly and we have been lucky enough to win both super bowls we have been in. I think of the teams that have made it there and failed. We are fortunate.

Yup, Ravens have been a very good team considering how team records go over the years. Ravens have been especially good in Harbaugh's era. So many playoff seasons plus SB. Can't just look at past 2 years and make that his legacy it wouldn't be at all accurate.

He is right about us being spoiled, but he is wrong about our unhappiness with this current team. We are not competitive because our draft has sucked over the last 6 years. Especially in the high rounds, there are more busts and only one, Mosely, even close to what is expected. Ozzie Newsome's picks have killed the Ravens. Blowing first round picks by taking the likes of Sergio Kindle, Elam, and now Perriman, who is nothing more than a mediocre receiver who drops as many passes as he catches, has decimated our team.
