lord, please send that towel waving obnoxious fan base home with a big "L". I know my team has some things to work on, but a win against the Squealers always make it seem so much better. I'll be there to do my part. RavensNation let's get pumped! The AFC north is still up for grabs. Win the North and figure it out from there!!

I appreciate the honest view. I don't think there was a single person including myself who was pounding the table for Correa pre-draft. But after really watching him I thought the Ravens potentially got a really good and possibly great player. There's some rough edges to him but I really think this guy will be a huge part of the defense. I think other guys could have easily be taken, but I think it's more so what fits for the Ravens.

Yea,  if you look at some of the draft threads I was all about those guys,  and a couple others I won't admit to.   It just sucks seeing other guys being productive and this guy looking like a 3 year project,  ish.  And then what,  blows up in his last year then prices himself out of Baltimore?

I think Doom is done!  He's been ineffective as a pass rusher and injured way too much now.

Sadly no proof yet this season to say otherwise

... masquerading as a decent team ... man, that hurts, but then the truth does that.

That's why it is so hard to get a read on this team. You just see enough from them to make you think they should be good, then they just go to pieces (too often in the red zone) and you are left wondering what they really are

Fix this junk ... couldn't agree more. Hope a healthier O line will help.

I couldn't agree with you more balfan23.

I've been stating that this Ravens team; "Is not as good as we think they are or, as we'd like for them to be!"  They are extremely mediocre at best right now. Hopefully, they'll show all of the NFL how good they really can be by playing 60 minutes of solid football in all 3 phases of the game to beat the Steelers!

GO RAVENS!!!

I'd be thankful if Correa ever "blows up" to have a decent year, mainly because I'm doubting it at this point.

Elam is kind of in that boat right now--if he blows up to have a decent end of this season, I'd be pretty thankful, even if it makes him harder to re-sign. It would mean he's not a bust and might actually have a future on this team, which would solve a big hole on our roster going forward.

In terms of Joe Flacco, ill just say this..  just perform.  If he does well, then good.

Of course, you say that to give him one more chance, then falls off and throw 2 int in 20 seconds frame.

Steelers have a terrible defense.  We had a bye week.  Lets get this over the hump, and the only way we can do that is to have our QB do damage.   PERFORM.  We win, we are top of AFCN.

Ravens get back the two best O linemen on the squad and that alone should have a huge positive effect. Smitty listed as questionable? I guess maybe he could have been secretly practicing because I don't see how a Friday walk through could have him game ready after such a long absence. Whatever, if he can go and be effective it will be a huge lift.

Despite our stiff run D, I think Bell will get his. I think the key will be our pass rush. While I'm not expecting a 5 sack blitzkrieg, they can't just let Ben sit back there and survey the field. Gotta give the DBs some help.

I've been pretty apathetic the last couple of weeks not really getting my hopes up for a victory. But now that the game is almost here I like our chances. I think we put up a great performance with our backs against the wall and beat the squealers.

Go Ravens!    :iwojima:

It's like Christmas Eve around here for me. Love this rivalry! What makes it really special this year is I believe this will be the benchmark game for this generation's Ravens Identity. The timing is perfect and the stakes are high. Win or lose - when all the gift wrappings and bows are thrown-off and this purple and black box is opened - I want to see Ravens Pissed-off for GREATNESS!

Play Like Ravens. GO Ravens!!!

This game is the season imho. If we lose here we are going to lose a bunch more games and end up with a similar season as last year, except this year is going to feel a lot worse because we started it 3-0 winning all 4 preseason games as well! But, if we beat the Steelers we have a chance to build confidence moving forward. The key is to be able to win without Flacco's help. We need a strong running game, great defense in the red zone and great special teams play. We need the coordinators to design and implement a short passing game for Flacco with screens, etc so he builds confidence and doesn't turn the ball over at inopportune times. Time of possession is key and Flacco's game management will be key as well. If we win ToP the defense will be fresh and devastating! The D and ST can get us to the playoffs if things go well for us and we beat the dang Steelers!! Let's go D, ST and Running game!!!!

I've got a feeling that Elam finishes off the year very strong. Not enough to demand an expensive contract- but just enough to make us want to retain him for another 2 years on a very team friendly deal. And then next season he just takes off and lights it up. Atleast this is what we should hope for. He's obviously had a resurgence in confidence. Let's hope he has a resurgence in tackling ability.

Smitty is one of the few players who doesn't need to even practice at all to suit up Sunday. He might not get as many snaps but I expect him to be active. One limited practice and one full (albiet a light walkthrough) should be a good sign that he's gonna give it a go. Then again we have another game 4 days from Sunday so its hard to say. Obviously this game Is more important though and suggs and Smitty fully understand the importance of getting this W.

Exactly. The running game HAS to be humming, and we CANNOT rely on Joe to throw the ball 45-50 times. A defensive or special teams score ( or both) would certainly help too. We've come close on defense a few times and fell short. If Hester struggles AT ALL I guarantee he will be toast and campanaro will be back on the squad by Monday. If he muffs one ball yank him and don't even let him finish the game. Let's hope he feels the heat and instead of choking he steps up and shows us why we brought him here in the first place. We've got to be clicking on all 3 phases to win this game.

A few guys that i think may have a sneaky big game are Dixon and Waller.  The O  line is back intact and the steelers are most vulnerable to the running game and tight ends. West will carry the load but Dixon will be a nice change of pace and bust open a few big ones.Talioferro will convert some crucial short yardage situations for us as well. I'm expecting those 3 to be active. Esp since tali contributes on ST. Gillmore's out so Waller will inevitability be expected to make some plays. Let's see if he steps up and executes. Throw him the ball in the endzone and let him go up and get it!

This would be a great week for the Ravens to get back on track and get a much needed win. We all know though the Ravens cant play the type of game they have been playing the last few weeks and come out with a win against the Steelers. THAT'S JUST A FACT!!! That's from top to bottom coaching down to the practice squad every one better be on their game because we all know the Steelers are going to bring it they always do when they play the Ravens.

Good points and I agree we cant rely on Joe throwing the ball that many times. Joe can win in this league but when he throws that many times usually means we have stopped trying to run the ball and we are 1 dimensional at that point and get beat.

And its a shame that kafusi had to go down and set back his development a whole year. Seems like he's almost been forgotten. Fans forget we actually have invested picks and FAs to patch our weaknesses, injuries have just set us back big time. First everybody was clamoring for a number 1 or first round receiver.. Ozzie picked perriman and we all know the rest of the story..now he's basically 8 weeks into his career with no camp time. Then everybody was complaining about the o line and pass rush... We took Stanley at 6 ( who's been above par when healthy) and then 2 pass rushers back to back. We also found a gem in tavon young and Matt judon. And that's not including the guys we brought in via FA like Weddle Wallace and Watson. Injuries have killed us but its gonna take some time for these guys to develop. However I think we have a great core of young players to look forward to. Peirce, KC,Tavon,Stanley,Perriman,Judon, Waller , and Dixon will all be cornerstones of this team moving forward. We've got ALOT of young talent. And weve still got guys going into their prime such as Mosley, jimmy - and key vets like Yanda and Weddle. On paper we've got a strong unit, just gotta put it all together and utilize them properly.

Yea the development of these young guys are so important. It sucks because you'll only get 4 maybe 5 years with these guys on their rookie contracts. So with guys like Perriman, Maxx, BK and some others being forced to miss a full year of development, it sets them back. So now they develop a little later and when they do start to hit that prime, their rookie contract is up and some other team is throwing huge money at them instead of them developing in years 1 and 2, than the Ravens have 2-3 years of high level play from those guys .

I literally just wrote this in the post above about how injuries are hurting these young guys. I don't Correa will take that long to develop, i'm looking more for him to be a player come playoff time. Just watch him play. This guy is around the ball a lot but you can tell he's still thinking and has that hesitation a bit. Even with that slight hesitation he continues to be around the ball if not getting his hands on it, so when he gets to the point where he can just let himself go and be the player he is capable of, he's gonna have a Suggs like impact on this defense. Just watch. That FF he had vs the Jets was huge. I think it was overlooked because Timmy fumbled the ball back, but if that doesn't happen that's probably a game saving forced fumble. That's a huge play when the teams needed it the most. It sucks he won't be playing in this game, i hope he's not forced to miss multiple games.

What a typical, heart-attack inducing season for the Ravens. If we win, we're on top of the North. So strange. I'm excited to see what Marty did with this offense over the bye and how Flacco will play with his offensive line back intact. I reallyyyyy hope Ben plays as well. Let's get it.

We should and probably will play a little bit better, but probably not enough from letting another weak defense own us. Past ravens squads exposed teams weaknesses, but the last two years we have been completely inept.

With Wallace playing his original NFL team, I'll bet he will have a good day.  Since it the Steelers, I predict a 13-10 game with the FG punched through within 3 minutes of the game's end.

I hope we utilize our run game better.  Don't give up on the run game.   We have a good defense, we wont be behind.   Kill the time, exhaust their D and have faith and do not abandon the RUN!

correa is gonna be a dog. one thing ive said about correa from the first time i watched his film is that he is gonna make plays if he is put in the right position to succeed. unfortunately he may never be an edge rusher because he really has an abnormal amount of strength training he would need. but as a traditional linebacker i think hes gonna be a stud. zach orr may end up a pro bowl alternate this year if he keeps playing as well as he has, and when he inevitably leaves, correa is gonna come in and be an upgrade.

you can just see that this guy is a good, smart, explosive, nasty, instinctive, and passionate player. hes got the it factor, and everyone will see soon enough.

I mean I think Ben is going to start, but I certainly don't think its the foregone conclusion everybody thinks it is, and I don't think the Steelers are "playing games" here.

Gameplan defensively likely doesn't change much whether its Ben or Jones.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if he either sits or is active but not starting. Steelers don't need this game nearly as bad as we do.

Yea I think he's a dog as well. I actually think he can develop into a decent pass rusher, nothing special but a guy capable of adding that to his game to rank up 8-10 sacks every other year. I think he just has to learn how to use his strength. You can see his strength in the run game, but he just tries to bull rush guys to get to the QB. BYU never helped him develop in that area, but the guy is smart and explosive. I have the feeling he's a hard worker and that's apart of his game he will improve upon, especially when he starts moving around like I think the Ravens want to use him.

I get that he really is injured, but it  does seem like they build it up as much as possible to make Roethlisberger into some kind of larger than life superhero. Every time he comes back from injury it's built up to be like Rocky overcoming his injuries in the 12th round of the match against Apollo Creed lol. I expect him to come out there minimizing the severity of his severed knee ligaments by referencing the time he played with a fever of 104 and two broken toes.

It's possible to pull a suprirse win here. The Steelers defense is atrocious and even with a crappy offense we might be able to take advantage of it. If we're healthy on the oline I could see us winning.

But at this point I think we might get a draft pick in the 10-15 range. Playoffs are possible but this team needs to get it's crap together.

good catch was chatting with @JoeyFlex5 about BK as well and had him on the brain. Statement remains tho, Boise didn't develop him as a pass rusher. They moved him around to play every position except safety and i think that was part of the appeal for the Ravens.  However as a pass rusher he was able to get away with just using his quick first step, strength and non stop motor. He needs more technique in the NFL.
