[News] Late For Work 10/25: Torrey Smith On Trading Block? Would Ravens Bring Him Back?

72 posts in this topic

No signs of interest in trading for tackles with Ronnie Stanley's injury. Will any Ravens join Ray Lewis at the Pro Bowl? Bears claim tight end Daniel Brown. No guarantees for Devin Hester. Long team meeting to review every play of Jets loss.

I'd like Harbaugh and the FO to answer one question before they start grinding the players for the Crap we're in - who the heck do they think is responsible for why this team is in such a mess roster wise and depth wise?!

DO NOT start with the injury-bug talk, many teams have it even worse, yet are winning. DO NOT start with the discipline and penalties talk, the offense was not able to score a single TD and it was NOT all due to penalties.

The reason is, that as soon as couple of our starting players are off the field, this team looks like an high school football team. That is the status of our "talented" roster and our "quality" depth that the FO praises the entire off-season. And the FO is DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for putting together the squad it has.

You cannot coach out our problems like Harbaugh is trying to do, because you can not create talent by coaching. If you could, A LOT of our players from the past 4-5 years would be full time playmaking starters by now.

So if Harbs is grinding the players for 2,5 hours, I sincerely hope that Oz, Harbs and the rest of the "genius" FO also sits down for at least twice as long and looks back at the decisions they have made, where they have gone wrong and backfired, and starts correcting those mistakes going forward from this point, starting from the way we renegotiate, sign and draft.

Otherwise we will be in the exact same situation next year, and the year after that, and after that, and....

There is a lot of reasons. There is also enough blame to go around. Ozzie has made questionable decisions. Harbs and staff have put together questionable game plans. Players have not produced the way most  had expected them to. Some players are regressing. Some players just can't stay healthy. Like I said, enough blame to go around.

In a fantasy world, I would love to see Torrey Smith back, Give them Perriman in exchange. BUT, that won't fix what is wrong with the Ravens. It starts at the top, where poor drafts over the last 6 or 7 years have depleted what was once a very talented team. Next, it is Harbaugh and his inept, incompetent coaches.. Bisciotte needs to clean house in order for the Ravens to rebuild. It won't happen as long as those currently in control remain there. Torrey Smith can't fix that.

Agree. Take a look at the Ravens Draft picks going back to 2009. A handful of IMPACT PLAYERS(at best) numerous ROSTER FILLERS.

Guess you're right. It's just the decision part regarding players, including how some have regressed etc, is painfully evident at the moment. And this team meeting and the drill because of Jernigan's fumble makes it seem like Harbs is putting all the blame on players. Serious d!ck move!

Random rant... But one thing that frustrates me is when I hear "this team lacks leaders" .... "This wouldn't happen if we had players like Ray and Ed in the locker room" ...

We've had a 5-11 season before. We've had a season where we started 7-3 and lost 4 of the next 5 games to fall out of playoff contention while playing uninspired football. Stuff like this happens. The AFC North is going to be a fight. Bengals are 3-4 as well, and the Steelers are 4-3 and will be without Ben for a bit. One week at a time. The same as it's always been.

Well, I think lack of discipline and simple football IQ is a reoccurring theme thus far this season. The Mosley play, the Jernigan play, the foolish penalties, Hester's decision making back there, some of the offensive play calling... I think he wants to clean all of that up.

It's funny that SSS is trying to look mean in his penguin costume! (or is he just mad because he wanted the bear costume and Kamar took it!)

Funny how the grass is always greener... The guy wasn't "all that" when he was here. There was always a question as to whether he was a 2 or a 3 or even a 4. He was great at drawing the PI flag, and not getting his foot down in the end zone. Torrey's no better than what we have.

The Ravens are just a bad football team. There are a number of things out there that supports my opinion. All of the older guys that we're depending on are hurt and none of the young guys has stepped up as of yet. This could potentially be another 5-11 season. I'm tired of hearing the same things out of Harbaugh's mouth week after week and the same things are happening every Sunday. I don't know if cleaning house is the answer but something has to change within the coaching staff, player development, scouting, etc. I don't want to hear the excuse about us always drafting at the back end of the draft in the past, we were still drafting well and winning during that time. I can only imagine how Mr. Biscotti feels about seeing this product being put out to the Flock.

Exactly. Those clowns seem to forget that the 2005 Ravens went 6-10 with Ray & Ed and then in 2007 went 5-11 with Ray, Ed, Sizzle, Ngata, JJ, Chris McAlister, Bart Scott all in their prime.

Anyone who watched Torrey while he was here knew he would be a free agent bust. He was the #1 WR by default only, until we got Boldin. Just like Kamar Aiken last year was the only WR Joe had to throw to, so he racked up big stats.

I also disagree that they've drafted poorly. J Smith, Perriman, Mosley, Jernigan, Williams, Wagner, Stanley, Tucker, etc. are all impact starters or will be soon. Several others, most recently Osemele, got so good we couldn't afford to keep them.

I looked at our Draft choices from 1996 till 2016 and our drafts of late haven't been THAT bad. We picked a lot of years lately at the end of the first round or didn't even have a first round pick. It seems to me weve kept a lot more players from our drafts now (or they were given HUGE salaries from other teams) than in the first half of our existence.

Harbs talking about Jernigan got full of himself. Really Coach? We fans could say the same about the decision-making and inability/refusal to adapt schemes. When will you speak to oline deficiencies and the $100m+ QB who has the worst fundamentals I've ever seen from an "elite" QB who can't or won't audible or call his own plays? $100m+ to be a robot? I believe there are some serious issues in the Castle and it's showing up on the field of play. Many fans have played sports and served in the military and one thing is for certain, how you practice is exactly how you play. Go Ravens!

If Fasty was really trying to get down to the bottom of this drafting situation he would compare our drafts in the last 6 or 7 years to NE or Pitts for the last 6 or 7 years. But if we are being honest with ourselves Fasty is just here to poo the ravens no matter what, without any real knowledge about how the game is played.

Fasty compare our drafts of the last 6 or 7 years to NE or Pitt. Thats the only way to get a true barometer of how we are doing draft wise. Or compare our drafts of the last 6 or 7 years to the drafts the ravens have had in their first 6 or 7 years in the league. You would be a lot more credible if you had some facts to back up your arguments.

Man please the QB is making the entire Ravens organization look bad! The Ravens should be 6-1 but Joe isn't cutting it! PERIOD!

Hey Harbs: Stop being coy about the injuries. Your "deceptive tactics" are clearly of no benefit to the team. You suck, and whole stinkin team sucks. So why don't you just tell us who's going to play and who's not.

no coach ever does this, or should. Why do you think Tom Brady has been listed as questionable for over a decade?

I know they don't. I was being facetious. It's obvious that it's not helping, though. So may as well tell us. It's starting to look like the Perriman situation all over again.

Trade one underachiever for another? Ya, brilliant idea. Flacco is playing terribly, but that's just silly.
