Joe Flacco: Tough Talk

3,270 posts in this topic

It's hard to blame Joe for this one when there's so many other things that didn't work in our favor.  This was a full powered Dallas team at home. Our defense (without Jimmy) was bad. Penalties did not help.

Yeah its totally unreasonable to ask a 100 million dollar qb to put up more than 20 points every once in a while. God forbid we expect him to carry the team at times while getting paid like a qb who could

I thought Joe's QB rating was pretty good today. Wasn't it around 100? Unfortunately, the Time of Possession was lop-sided in Dallas' favor. We ran only 25 plays in the second half and had the ball for only 10:11. The total TOP was 36:03 for Dallas and 23:57 for us. There is usually a good correlation between TOP and winning. In any case, the best defense is a good offense. Dallas proved that to be true. In other words, when the other team has the ball its hard for us to score. They beat us by sustaining drives in the second half. Dak Prescott may well be the NFL's MVP by year's end but he wasn't the MVP in this game. Ezekial Elliott was. Did The Elite Aaron Rodgers carry his team on his back last night 'gainst the Skins or was he layin on his back due to his patchwork O-line? How much does he earn? What's Green Bay's record? C'mon man! I thought you were a Defensive Mind?!

Honestly I think Joe is playing scared. He's lost his confidence. Up until this year his knock was overthrowing receivers or just throwing high. This year I've seen more of his go into the dirt at their feet than ever before. He needs to get his head straight, but a bunch of weeks with a patchwork line and giving up a league high in sacks certainly isn't gonna do it. Betting the only person he has faith in not to get him killed is Yanda.

I thought Joe looked great out there, his pocket awareness out of nowhere went up and the ball was leaving his hands with velocity. He was stepping into throws again.

I thought we did well and had big plays, we are not going to win games when we had 13 penalties for over 120 yards....too many times the offensive line has been called for flags that bring us back....I am happy with what I saw from Flacco, Wallace, Smith, and the run game today going forward.

We had 13 offensive line penalties.  I think that's the biggest thing.

Zuttah had some real ticky tack calls that halted big gains but didn't realize there were that many.  Do you have the numbers on pre and post snap penalties?

Twest 8 rush for 42 yards and a touch Dixon 6 rush for 40 yards and why only 14 rush???

This is a question I find myself asking. I don't understand this.

Could be wrong, but it felt when we did break a run on early downs it was either taken back by penalty or stopped for little gain(after it proved successful).  Haven't rematched the game though so could be wrong.

You're not wrong, but still. 30+ passes and only 14 or 15 runs? Yeah, that needs to be better.

I agree, but... I don't even know at this point...  The amount of runs called doesn't make sense, but when you're starting that far back you need to make up the yards just to get a reasonable distance.

We ran almost all of those in the first half in the second half we were playing from behind and didn't have much time you can't run when you posses the ball 3-4 times in 2 quarters and are playing catch up and anyone who says Joe played bad on Sunday didn't watch the game I agree joe didn't look like himself to begin the year but these last three games he looks like joe I think it was a mental thing if you can honestly say joe played bad yesterday you don't know football or are expecting a passing TD on every drive or didn't watch the game

At this point, I'm really losing faith in this offense. My expectation for this offense is that they do just enough to win.

When did you have faith in this offense?

Prior to the season, I had faith that it would take time until this offense would reach maximum potential. After each game, the faith was slowly, but surely dissipating.

That's ridiculous.

Kubiak and Caldwell left to become HC's elsewhere. Cameron's firing led to the Super Bowl, and then there's Trestman. How does that translate into most?

I know I'm awesomely late here. But I don't know how long everyone else can be blamed for this offense. One thing has been consistent... And that's Flacco, and I'm not a hater. It's just a trend

I was sipping the kool-aid when I saw all of our tightends, and running back depth. And it looked like we had weapons at WR. but man what a few weeks can do...

That's exactly his point. There is zero consistency anywhere on this offense, outside of the QB.

It's too bad consistantly average to below average isn't in demand. I'm sad to say if but I think he may be done here.

1. Consistently average at the QB position is in extremely high demand. We're reminded of that on literally an annual basis based on the contracts average QB's get.

2. Certainly not done in Baltimore by a long shot. He's locked in as the starting QB of this team through at least 2018, and very likely beyond that. Short of a Ray Rice-level incident, that's not changing.

The only thing that can be altered here is whether fans except this or not. That's on them... its certainly not on Joe.

I just want a top QB. At this point I'd rather have Derek Carr or Dak Prescott. Joe's boring and his rookie level issues are annoying.

You just named 2 QB's who play behind the 1st and 2nd best offensive lines in the league, no wonder you think they're so good

EXACTLY.  They also have numerous weapons on offense.. We have Steve and Wallace that's about it.

Ever since Flacco got the big money and had children that is when he seemed to have changed for the worse...

seems like once he got the money to be financially set and had kids his priorities changed big time.

I guess his wife now rules and tells him to be careful and gives him such a long shopping list and

chores to do around the home that he just doesn't have time to plan and be the old Flacco anymore.

in the past when he was being rushed he would try to scramble out of it and make a play... Now he

just basically will go down and lay in a fetal position and give up.

That's a good point but there's been change because of performance. Including the qb coaches.

I'm fine with him being the average Joe. Not when he's being Joe shmoe. He hasn't been consistently average for a little while now
