[News] Ravens Seeking To Find Killer Instinct

70 posts in this topic

Soft.... it is a fragile mentality. We have one bad thing happen and we lose confidence. We face a little adversity and we begin to doubt. I said for a long time now... Pees has no clue how to close a team out. He is the only coach in the NFL to get passive in the 1st quarter bc we have a lead. We have not had a killer instinct since he got here. We have not been feared since arrived. He killed out killer instinct. SMH

That play to Enunwa was the killer. Obviously, we were in zone because Orr was in coverage against him. You can't cover a WR with that kind of speed with a LB. It's a matchup nightmare and it cost us dearly.

Shouldn't have mattered. Orr took an awful angle.

"Seeking killer instinct". "Taking long, hard look at ourselves". "Not playing winning football". I'M Freakin SICK OF THOSE SAME OLD LAME CLICHES!

If no one is going to take responsibility, why this team is in such a mess roster wise and depth wise to begin with, then please just shut the freak up and say nothing at all. And DO NOT start with the injury-bug talk again, many teams have it even worse, yet are winning.

Tell me what you want him to say? Seriously, what should he have said other than what he did?

"If no one is going to take responsibility" What does this mean? He's taking responsibility. We need to look at ourselves, because we, as a team, are not getting the job done. That's taking responsibility, no? Or do you want Harbs to start blaming people, publicly, for each issue. That's how you sew locker room dissent.

I seriously don't get what you want of him.

Do any of the Ravens coaches have the "killer instinct"? Maybe that is where the problem lies. I sure hope Harbaugh is able to teach his players over the bye on how to preserve leads and finish teams off. Otherwise Ozzie may need to fire Harbaugh at the end of the season and rebuild his team.

with the way the front office has drafted these past 6 years i would not put a rebuild in ozzies hands

I feel Ozzie is over rate, the Ravens have very little home grown. He has never drafted a quality wide receiver, look how other teams have late round excellent receivers. Why is it that we either cut a player or won pay some other. Then they go on to other teams and have good careers. Does Jeff Saturday ring a bell. There so many others. I feel the front office and scouts need to be replace.

"Then they go on to other teams and have good careers." Check again dude. Not really.

Hahahaha...Should read "Ravens try to find ANY instinct".......seriously this team has lacked everything since Ray Lewis left........coach riding the Lewis as was everyone else......gotta try to bring that guy back as the coach.....no drama just go out and kick a** EVERY game...no excuses....Bring back Ray Lewis.....harby is done......jus replace him already....with any of our staff............Stop the bleeding!!!

"Bring back Ray Lewis" What does this mean? As a coach?

remember on 10/12 the article about how the change in OC injected energy into the Ravens offense? I guess that was premature like many of us thought. I hate to say this because I have been a big supporter of Flacco. But I think it comes down to this. We need someone at QB that has something to play for. Maybe it is true what his worst critics have suggested. Maybe Flacco has already achieved what he was playing for. Maybe all he wanted was a SB ring and a big contract.

That is great insight.

Now what iff the defense held the in 3 of the 4 losses. We would be talking about Joe's game winning drives in those games. Chill out.

The Steelers are one game ahead of us. Yeah, theyre tearing up the league.

Let's revisit this at the end of the year shall we? They've just played a tougher schedule thus far and still have a better record. I've seen most of their games in their entirety and they are a much better team than us. They still have the best WR and RB in football and a borderline elite QB.

I hate the Steelers as much as anyone but they have clearly surpassed us. They're a team with enough talent to make some noise in the playoffs.

So what happens if we beat them? Maybe we aren't as bad as we seem.

Also, they have a borderline elite QB who tore his MCL and may be out for our game...soooooooo

First off... the sqeelers are not as good as everyone thinks. Which is why they have been blown out of a few games and we have not. All of our games are close win or lose.

The sqeelers have an elite QB in Ben but also an egotistical one that forces things and turns the ball over a lot trying to look good. He cant be trusted and he hasn't played a full year in who knows how long

They have an elite RB who also can not stay on the field. LBell is super talented but he is also super fragile and I will be surprised if he makes it through the game vs us much less an entire AFC North schedule (even after missing weeks 1-3)

They have an elite WR in Antonio Brown who they have allowed to become their offense at the expense of others \ Sammie Coates, Wheaton, Eli Rogers are not developing bc Ben only trusts Brown.

They have an average TE in Jessie James
They have a below average OL... but utilize a quick passing game to keep the OL from being exposed. When they have to pass deep and need 5 and 7 step drops Ben becomes very vulnerable.

They have an average DL who can be run on and has no depth
They have fragile ILBs who are athletic but cannot stay healthy and are not physical. That is why KO would kill them.
They have good OLBs but very one dimensional and screen passes kill them.
(go back and watch the Eagles and Patriot games vs the sqeelers)

They have very poor DBs who play the run well but cannot play the pass well consistently at all.

They have a sub par kicking game.

(I will take Tucker and Koch) over their ST every day of the week. I will take our DB's over theirs every day of the week. I will take our ILB and OLBs and our DL over them.

I will even take our OL over their. I will take our TE over them and our WR corps as a unit is probably not far off from theirs as a unit. THey got us at RB and QB but I will take Harbs over Tomlin every day of the week. I do think that Haley and Butler are more clued in then Morningweg and Pees however!

I am not that impressed with Pittsburgh. In fact... I think that if you can give any of their top 3 a bad day they will lose (look at the Dolphin game)!

That's taking responsibility, no? Or do you want Harbs to start blaming people, publicly, for each issue. That's how you sew locker room dissent.

I seriously don't get what you want of him.

That's my point, Harbs is not taking responsibility. What I want is to see Harbs and Oz admitting that many of their recent decisions have not panned out or have backfired and that has put the team into the whole we are in. I want to see them admitting it. That means they have identified the root of the problem and there is yet hope, that in 2-3 years things will be better.

Instead Harbs IS blaming other people. Yeah, he said "WE need to take a look at ourselves", yet considering the 2,5 hour team meeting for players and the extra drill he put the players through due to Jernigan's fumble, it seems as if the "we" he's talking about is the players. Some of the blame has been put on coaches, most on players. And you are right, that's how you sew locker room dissent and that's exactly where Harbaugh is headed.

Meanwhile, I have not seen anyone from the FO admitting that, yeah, we at the top level have somewhat screwed up with couple of choices we have made. They have faced very difficult decisions, just damn admit that you didn't make the right ones. Not resigning KO has obviously backfired. Couple of past drafts have not lived up to their hopes, etc.

So if Harbs is not going to do that, then I want him to just shut up and not say anything, instead of saying how the team needs to perform better. The team is performing probably as well as they can, it's just that he and the FO have drafted players who are not as good as they were hoped to be.
