[News] Late For Work 10/24: 7 Game Takeaways, Including Ravens Officially In Crisis Mode

97 posts in this topic

We need to pursue WR in free agency hard for some reliable possession WRs that get open. Chris Moore and Perriman have not been reliable whatsoever thus far, limited experience aside.

its not our receivers. Its the routes they run, and how they are taught to run them. We have two of the fastest players in the NFL and they cant get separation? ANYONE can get separation if they have a decent routes and run them right.
Plus Joe couldn't hit his behind with both hands right now.

the most disappointing thing is that we drafted for pass rush... we passed on Hargraves and Ramsey and others to boost our Pass rush and we have zero pass rush. In fact KC looks like the next Arthur Brown!

How can you say he looks like Arthur Brown, he never made it on the field? With both Suggs and Dummervil out that is not a fair comparison and he hasn't finished season one yet.

I said... looks like Arthur Brown bc we have no place or plan to use him. with both Suggs and Dum out... we can not utilize a guy who was drafted for pass rush. I said he looks like Arthur Brown bc he is somebody we are hoping will develop. Not looking to what he has to offer and how he can help this team but looking to what we hope he develops into. That is what Arthur Brown was....someone who couldn't be trusted to contribute but someone who we hoped would develop into something (he never did)

Flacco is shaken alright he is just not cutting it and blaming the O line is getting old he threw balls off target all day and that has nothing to do with the O line! Let Mallet start behind this O line and he will get it done! Now I know how my Dallas Cowboys friends feel because now we have a Tony Romo and he isn't going anywhere so we are done till his contract is up! Smh!

Yes the Ravens are playing awful football right now, but so are the Panthers, Saints, Cardinals & Jags (despite having drafted franchise saviors Jalen Ramsey AND Myles Jack...lol). But we are still in this.

You can cry, whine and pine to fire everyone and take your ball and go home because things aren't going your way. But we are going to stay and fight til the end and support our team all the way. We are 1 game back from the division lead - 1 GAME! I don't care who's on the schedule or how good you think they are, anything can happen.

A team a few hours north in Ohio likes to fire everyone, make changes at QB, draft "Alpha Dogs", etc - maybe they are more your style (I hear housing is cheap and so are tickets).

Me? I'm gonna Ride or Die! Ride or Die! Go Ravens!

put the pom poms down. No one is saying they are not Ravens fans to the end. A lot of people are here among Ravens family expressing frustration and a desire to get things on the right track. There is obviously a need for some change and they are calling for it. (They are fans enough that they dont want to see their team spiraling out of control).

It is those fans in Cleveland that are happy with the team no matter if they are in the basement of not. They dont demand more out of the organization they love and as a result they get a subpar product on the field every season. Here in BMORE we expect to be winners and when we are not winning we demand something be done.

Sorry we dont have a loser mentality that Cleveland has. We want better for our city, our team and our community... and we expect better and when it is not better- we have the right to demand more (not accept being losers)

Ride / im with you but dont just ride blindly and cheer all along. Bleed purple but use your brain in the process to demand more out of our team. Im gonna bleed purple and ride with you but I am not going to shake my pom poms and pretend like some change is not necessary ( thats how the browns got to where they are)!

I think all of us are frustrated by the lack of performance from a team we thought could compete for a Super Bowl. I'm no less of a fan because I call for accountability from the front office on down. I wouldn't fire Ozzie or Harbaugh but I would demand improvement. This is not a team being outplayed by folks with more talent. This is a team beating itself WEEK AFTER WEEK. That is on the players but also on the coaching staff. We have to get better and fast or we will have substantial change. Bisciotti is not one to stand by and watch his team spiral into another lost season.

Demanding improvement isn't going to produce anything.  When failing at this rate, either they don't have the right tools or they aren't properly using the ones they have.  They need to do some sort of "think tank" and figure out whether they need better tools or if they need to use what they have better.  Then they need to find solutions.

The problem is that we hardly have any talent, and the talent we do have is in the form of free agent signings, not cheap rookie contracts that are team's bread and butter. This leads me to believe Ozzie is a major part of the problem. Which is unfortunate, because if we do move on from Ozzie we are just going in house with DeCosta, and at this point I'm not sure that's going to be an improvement.

A few examples of our issues:

Since 2010 (not including the '16 draft) we have drafted 8 wide receivers. Going into this season the top 3 wide receivers on our depth chart are free agent signings (Smith, Wallace, Aiken).

Since 2010 (not including the '16 draft) we have drafted 4 running backs (not counting Juszczyk). Going into this season the top 2 running backs on our depth chart were free agent signings (Forsett, West). We also had to bring in Trent Richardson to push our backs.

I mean frankly that's just terrible. We've done the same thing with tight ends and corners to a lesser extent. I mean Ozzie is great at drafting d-linemen and linebackers but outside of that the guy is skirting by on some picks from 20 years ago. Besides quarterback the most important aspects of the game are line play on offense, and getting to the passer before your coverage breaks down on defense. Our offensive line play is atrocious and we can't get to the passer or cover on defense. Being great against the run isn't enough these days.

On top of that, I'd love it if they picked up an OC that wasn't a head coaching washout. Literally every single one in Harbaugh's tenure has just been a former HC failure. Cam Cameron, Jim Caldwell, Gary Kubiack, Marc Trestman. Seriously with this? Maybe try a young up and comer, not some name guy that's done nothing but fail. I bet we trot Jeff Fisher or Mike McCarthy or some such out there next year.

By the way, expect things to get worse before they get better. We just lost to four bad teams in a row, and barely beat three bad teams before that. The way we are playing there's not a single "gimme" game left on the schedule. I really hope they get their act together next offseason.

By the way, being able to point out problem areas makes me a "good fan." Bad fans are the people that repeat platitudes like "In Ozzie we trust" without looking at facts.

You can't see the forest from the trees so don't expect any change with this group of egos. Look just how John reacts to questions.Man does not know how o be humble. At least that's how he portraying himself.

Bad teams CAN get better. Plays can be MADE that weren't made previously. Improvement IS an option. The future IS NOT carved in stone but TRACED in the air by intentions. So if THEY intend to get BETTER and COMMIT to the effort...ANYTHING is possible in the second half of season.

Cleveland fans want what the Ravens have and they are Loyal to their teams but it's gonna take time now that they have a decent head coach now but they have The Cavs and Indians in the World Series to take their pain away! Will be on and poppin over here tomorrow so don't worry about them! Joe is making the entire organization look bad!

Joe Flacco is a middle of the pack QB who needs his o-line to give him pass protection to calm his nerves down and take away the frightened look from his face. Until then Flacco won't shine at all. With Stanley and Yanda hopefully coming back after the bye the Ravens may have a chance. Oh and do they miss CJ to cover the middle cause Orr missed a tackle along with Weddle that led to a TD.

Ravens veteran return man and future Hall of Famer Devin Hester
------------
ok, that gave me a good laugh at work after a miserable outing by the team again. enough already labeling mediocre active players "future HoFers" ask OchoCinco how that turned out? its the Hall of FAME, not the Corridor of ONE skill. thats precisely the reason why it took so long to even get a kicker in the HoF.

Cleveland is a championship town in 2016. All up to the Indians for thier World Series Title, 2 of there 3 teams might be champions.

The Ravens O-line is so bad that they were lining up yesterday in a split-back shotgun formation....7 blockers with 3 guys running patterns. That's a high school formation. And even with 7 blockers Flacco didn't have a clean pocket and of course with only 3 guys running routes, nobody was open.

I said back in the spring they should not have renegotiated Flacco's contract and should have eaten his cap hit, now were stuck with so much dead money we can't get rid of him. He was never ever elite and I love how he is smiling with Fitzpatrick at the end of the game. Hey I don't care, Ill just collect my guaranteed money and keep popping out kids. You suck Flacco and so do you Harbaugh. Ozzy really isn't producing much either these days. They tried to go win now last year and again sacrificed our future to win now. I am so tired of it. Tired of the Players, coaches and the whole organization. This is embarrassing.

Crisis mode started long before this season.

Since 2010 we have the following players still on our roster who were picked in the first 3 rounds!

2010 - 0 players
2011 - 1 Jimmy Smith
2012 - 0 players
2013 - 2 Elam, Brandon Williams
2014 - 2 Mosely, Jernigan,
2015 - 3 Perriman, Max Williams,Carl Davis
2016- 3 Stanley, KC, Kafusi

11 players picked from the first 3 rounds are still here since 2010 out of 21!
Of the 11 Jimmy, Mosely and Williams are good! The rest are bust or cant stay on the field! Stanley has great potential when healthy.

Either Ozzie is picking the wrong players or our coaches cannot develop talent! Please tell me the purpose of stock piling picks that will not be on the team!

You missed Wagner, Juice, Jensen, Urschel. But I get your point. I think the pick hoarding method has greatly shown to be ineffective and only gives us experimental depth. The tough part about it is that we drafted so late in those drafts so the players become harder to nail as undeniable NFL stars.

I pray to God Ozzie shakes the foundation and gets aggressive in this year's draft for Garrett, Peppers, or maybe even the corner out of Florida. We need an elite pass rusher and a shut down corner across from Jimmy. Those two things will help stop the downward slope, especially if we can keep Jernigan, williams and CJ.

Exxxxactly... because we needed that too... Does anybody remember Flacco and an ACL?

It is just hard as Oz tries to patch one area then tries to move on to the next but then the band-aids just keep falling off. We had a great line in 12', then a terrible one in 13', under Kubiak our line looked amazing in 14', then it has been on a downward spiral since. Stanley long-term I think will be a top 5-10 LT, not paying KO was understandable, but we need him now more than ever. Zuttah seems to be regressing and we need an injection of a dominant talent from the draft early. Yanda is till amazing, yet may only have 3 or so years left. Wagner is hard to peg as he looks great one week then mediocre the next. I pray we add another quality piece to our foundation this next year in the draft.

Stanley will want big money in 4 years. JOE and Jimmy are eating that up.

I said it before and I'll say it again, fix the OL along with fixing Joe's mechanics/footwork and this offense will begin playing good ball.

Without correcting those two things, this offense will continue sputter and spiral out of control.

You can't tell me the coaches don't see this.

Re-training muscle memory and reversing bad habits. Man, this is getting old with the Ravens, but that is what we are up against. We are not just looking at breaking the bad habits of players (pick one), but also, the bad habits of the coaches. A team has to work really hard at the wrong things to get this messed up.

The offense not even getting into the red zone against the Jets for 60 minutes is just so totally embarrassing. Someone in a position of authority on this team, please give a substantive explanation for this. And please give a plausible plan for correcting this mess.

The fans have many good ideas. We are hanging with you, Ravens.

Good news is the Ravens have a good defense and special teams and a new coach will not have much rebuilding to do.

How exactly do you propose offense scores when Flacco is getting so beat up that for a moment I couldn't tell him apart from Ryan Tannerhill?

We really really really need Yanda and Stanley back. And I'm not even talking about need them to win some games, I mean we need them so that by end of season there are no little Flacco orphans.

He's a tough guy generally, but he was playing so scared it was cringeworthy.

O-line has not been great, but Flacco has had opportunities and has blown them. Overthrows wide open receivers when he isn't under pressure. Also, I'm no football genius, but toooo many times I'm watching the game and I'm like " here comes the blitz", Joe doesn't audible out of the play or change the protection, or say anything, just runs the play and get's clobbered or makes bad throw off the back foot. SMH! $100 mil should get you more than that from your QB. I'm just sayin. Elephant in the room
