60 posts in this topic

The Ravens posted a franchise-low 6 rushing yards, leaving quarterback Joe Flacco throwing 44 times with an injured right shoulder. Flacco said his shoulder did not bother him, but was inaccurate on several passes and threw two critical interceptions in the third quarter to doom Baltimore.

Kudos for displaying incredible courage Flacco playing after injuring your shoulder the past week. Rest up for the Steelers and put us on the road to the playoffs after the bye Joe!

Simple fact: Flacco should not be throwing the ball 44 times in a game. We can't say "Flacco has lost a step" or "His best days are behind him" because it simply isn't true. He has made some bad throws this year, but that's going to happen when he's throwing the ball that often. The simple rule of domination in the AFC North: win in the trenches. If we had an O-line capable of keeping Flacco upright, we would more likely than not have an o-line that can run block more efficiently. More runs = more play action = Joe at this best. The sad reality is that we can't fix the o-line this year. We just do not have enough talent, even with Stanley in the lineup. I just want to stress to all those out there who feel a switch to Mallett will fix our problems, it will not. Simply put, any QB would flounder in the same situation. Receivers who fail to get open. Dropped passes. Pressure after pressure after pressure. I honestly feel bad for Joe at times. Then I remember he's making millions whether he wins or loses and the feeling lessens. Still, we can't be so quick to write him off. This team is missing a lot at key fundamental positions.

I'm not knee-jerk reacting here.

Joe, your decision making and blank stare on your face frustrates the living daylights out of me. I feel like you are clueless. Perhaps you are done. 5 kids and a big paycheck may have done you in.

John, Billick sealed his fate when he stuck with Boller through thick and thin. You might want to instill some tough love on Joe and sit him when he's not performing. Maybe you should call out your O-Line like Zimmer did with a 5-1 team!

Defense, Thanks for keeping it respectable. you made lots of plays and turned the ball over for the offense, but they did nothing for you.

I honestly see one win on the schedule, and it is a big maybe.

Keeping my faith, but it is not easy today.

Hey I was going to comment on Joes and the team performance but it would not do any good? More importantly, now we go into a much needed bye and go regroup? For some strange reason perhaps it is the season, We have not quite been ourselves. nevertheless, We are Ravens and our poem always begins, "Once upon a midnight dreary, while we pondered, weak and weary"

However, strange or foolish as it may seem the ravens still make the playoff with a 9-7 record! "Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before;"

We will beat Pitt and Cleveland at home we will lose to Dallas come back home and beat Cinn squeak by Mia Loose to NE come back home and beat Phil defense will have a signature game loose to pit and then beat Cinn in Cinn!
Edgar Knows
I believe in Flacco and he is in a slump!

t this point he should be taking all the blame? It should be I did not excecute! I think our Quarterback has gotten gun shy because I saw a play where Joe threw the ball as he was falling and the guy wasnt even close? Something is amiss?

But seriously, he needs to stop say we and take the frikin heat? thats all I am saying. He was not under pressure on either of his interceptions

Can't believe FO extended Flacco so he can play like he has. He has handicapped the franchise for the next few years.

Hey leave my quarter back alone Hes still my man. I wanna see you post once the playoff starts and we are never one and done!

Not sure what's going on with Joe, He looks confused, maybe afraid of getting hurt. Hope he can snap out of it real quick.

I think the Flacco apologists are hilarious. Insane, but hilarious. The dude just plain sucks. Is there anyone better out there? Nobody available. So we're stuck with this dude for a long time. However, I'd actually like to see him called out for sucking. He threw terrible passes all day (all season). It should hv been 3 picks, but that punt/pass into double coverage was dropped by the DB. Even when has time, he's still throwing off his back foot, like he's a rookie. Dude is so inaccurate, and is constantly forcing throws. I used to stick up for him. Not anymore. HE SUCKS. And so do his fanboys.

If Flacco wasn't healthy enough to play and be effective then it was his obligation to the team to stay on the sideline, and give Mallett an opportunity to lead the team to a win. Flacco started and stayed in for the entire game. He stated after the game his shoulder felt fine. Stop making excuses for the man.

It's time to shelve the elite debate regarding Flacco's play at quarterback. An elite quarterback plays at a higher level and does so more consistently from game to game than Flacco does. I was never concerned with that before because the bottom line was Flacco was doing his part to help the team win. Now if Flacco doesn't pick up his play soon the debate will be is he even an "Average Joe" at quarterback.

I'm starting to wonder if the Ravens ownership should had TDilfered Joe after the Super Bowl but yet no QB would be good with Castillo Offensive Line.

It should be plain now that Flacco is an average qb at best and without a running game a strong running game he cannot win. Next season with a whole new coaching staff proable he should not be given the starting job. The Ravens have find competiton for him in the draft or free agency.

I don't want to hear about Flacco's "injured shoulder". That is baloney. If he was hurt, he should not have been playing. This was a completely winnable game that Harbaugh and Flacco gave away. To sit there and watch as this impotent offense puts up zero points on the board the whole game, without trying to do something about it is beyond absurd. Why wasn't Mallett in the game? After Flacco threw those two god awful picks, he should have been benched, and would have by any head coach with a brain. This team will not win another game, except maybe against Cleveland. Wake up Bisciotti. It is time to clean house.

Imagine if we got paid like the best in our business, but in reality were the "below average" in our businesss? That'd be cool. I bet Joe doesn't lose sleep due to sucking at his job, worried about losing it. Man, what a lucky guy.

I'm assuming we will have a decent draft pick next year when I say this. If there is a quality QB available with our first pick, we should take him and groom him until he is ready and then let Joe move to backup, or trade him. I commend him for having the stones to turn down an offer by the Ravens before he won the SB, but he hasn't done squat since and his regular season stats have always stunk.

I agree. If Joe's contract and the rookie QBs contract end at the same time, that'd be ideal. Joe MIGHT be tradeable to a desparate team, but highly unlikely someone else would pay for a Waste products with gold...maybe the Browns. I agree too, that Joe played his hand right, and things went just about perfectly for him. He was only worth his contract because of the market, and he and his agent knew that. But other than the Kubiak year, Flacco has been a terrible QB. It's not like it's a bad game here and there; his bad games far outweigh his good games. A new T-shirt should be made that says #awful

Flacco has stunk up the joint since the Super Bowl win. It doesn't look to me like his heart is in it any more. He got a Super Bowl ring and a mega contract so now it looks to me like he is going through the motions.

He obviously gets happy feet as soon as he feels a little pressure, resulting in throws behind the receiver, into the ground or 3 feet over the receiver's head. The game last week was a prime example. Mike Wallace was wide open at the 8 yard line at the end of the game and he throws it 5 feet over his head and he wasn't even being pressured. Oakland game first down at mid field with 40 seconds, needing a FG to win the game. Basically all he needed was another 10 yards to give Tucker a decent shot at the win. Flacco throws 4 straight that were incomplete, game over. The point is the Ravens would be 5-2 with a decent QB and probably 7-0 with an excellent QB. Since we will probably be drafting in the top 7 or 8 picks this year, I hope the Ravens take the best QB available, let him sit for one year behind Flacco and then cut Flacco loose and let the new QB take over. If I was SB I would clean house starting with Ozzie, Harbaugh and DeCosta when the season ends. Ozzie hasn't had a good draft since 2008 if the truth be told.

Crusader you have no idea whose fault it was that the Offensive line played horribly because your limited knowledge of the game does not include offensive line responsibilities. You don't know what a trap is, or a pull, and you have no clue what a bubble or a bucket step is. You have no clue what scan or slide protections means, and I could go on. You blame one guy one week and another guy the next. In a prior post you were advocating for 6'5" player to become a lead blocker. And this week you're blaming the coach??? If you knew what you were looking for you would know that the players were to blame for the lines poor performance this week, both from a technical and physical standpoint.
