Man our offensive line really hurt us on that big play by West

The line made the play happen.  A single lineman hurt us on that play.  An important distinction!

I began noticing it last year but chalked it up to the Ravens struggles (my diminishing interest).

The quarterback play league wide is on the whole and by comparison, poor. Many games are simply a struggle to see who stinks the least and are unwatchable.

The cutsey and pandering way that the NFL promotes itself has really grown both tiresome and insulting. I dare anyone to watch the NFL network for five minutes (outside of, " path to the draft"), and not feel it a colossal waste of time.

draft season has become more intriguing to me than the games.

It seems, every time I tune into the NFL network they are on commercial break. I don't watch much of it anymore.

Offense:

- Flacco is not on the same page with the wideouts. At all.

- Wideouts aren't making the tough catches even when Flacco puts the ball where it needs to be.

- Offensive line is in shambles and it's showing with our lack of a run game. Still think Marty needs to keep handing it off regardless.

Defense:

- Need more speed out there... and by that, I'm referring to Webb.

- No QB pressure whatsoever. Need more blitzes if the ends can't apply some type of pressure.

- Any QB, good or bad, can find an open WR if you give them all day to scan the field and allow them to finish their routes.

Special Teams

- Tucker is the man. That is all.

- Hester is starting to worry me. He needs to get his confidence back during the bye.

I feel the same way about the draft. I think what bothers me is the poor play from the players on simple football stuff like tackling and that stuff. It really bothers me and this is a league-wide issue. The CBA is certainly at fault but so is college. Football as a whole needs to come together and talk about it because this will affect the college system as well as the NFL, IMO. The NFL has a problem on its hands because the games are not nearly as fun to watch and that's not because we are losing but because there's so much stopping in the games. I am only going off of what I feel here, without much qualitative data to substantiate it, but I feel like games are becoming longer and longer. I feel a big part of why I am growing to dislike the NFL are the penalties. It's not just because of the Ravens' penalties but throughout the entire NFL. These penalties stop the game a lot and disrupt the flow of the game. This isn't baseball where you have so much time between action. This is the NFL and quick action is one of the nice parts of football.

Sorry I can't help you there....

I thought I read a typo when I read 6 rushing yards. Or that I missed the caveat of that stat being confined to the second half or 4th quarter or something...

Nope, 6 rushing yards the whole game and 98% of the negative posts are focusing on Flacco, smh

I don't think the NCAA would do an awful lot to help the NFL sadly, since its own product seems to do really well off what's slowly hurting the NFL (the spreads, cutesy plays, etc). But I hear you, I've tried to watch other games this year but I don't think I've been able to sit through an entire one yet this season. Every time I've tried I've been frustrated at the flags and constant ad breaks (that probably feel worse this year with all the flags).

Maybe Chip Kelly had it right, as perverse as that sounds. Maybe we should just hire a college coach (Jimbo Fisher is on the hot seat I believe) and implement a college system. You win games by executing, which Belicheat is a master of getting his players to do. So maybe we should just bring in a college offence and use something that's easier for the players to transition to. Maybe we should just be the side that finally bites the bullet and turns the NFL into a glorified NCAA. That's my tin foil hat idea and I may or may not be holidaying in Colorado atm, so I'm more bouncing a crazy idea off the wall than genuinely suggesting something that radical, but maybe it's just crazy enough to work, haha.

And they did pretty well. I think Forte had over 100, right?

Not making excuses for you know who because he played like he was a choir boy in jail, but no QB is going to succeed when your rushing "attack" is a net 6 yards.

Hester is really starting to become a liability. I keep thinking he's one return away from busting one open and regaining that confidence but it never happens and its just bad decision after bad decision and muff after muff. He certainly doesn't look like a veteran or future HOF'R. looks like a has been to me. Hope he proves me wrong, but I think we may see campanaro  back before seasons end.

I started him by accident, didn't think he'd fare well against our then #1 rushing D. I also drafted AJ Green and Eifert figuring I may as well get some benefit to the Bengals winning.

Ill happily trade my worthless fantasy success for even just 1 extra Ravens win

Same here, and who did I start? TJ Yeldon against the Raiders.

Just an ugly week all around. I'm not sure how I feel about having this ugly taste sit in my mouth for another week while we have the bye.

Ladainian Tomlinson skipped 6 yards on the set of NFL Network while everyone laughed to demonstrate how bad we are. We're a joke to everyone. It's pathetic.

Sorry, but if you employ NFL worthy players, rushing for 6 yards in a complete game is an absolute joke.

Every player, coach and executive should have to watch the segment of him doing that on replay. May be then some of these people will be embarrassed enough to get their heads out of their own asses.

Reminds me of when we held the Patriots to 4 yards rushing during the playoff game in 2014.

While searching through Webster's Dictionary, trying to find the perfect single word to describe this years Ravens, I settled on two words. You can select any one that you like and it will be the right word.  AWFUL  or PATHETIC

You need to find a bitter berry to squeeze (get it?).   I would gladly trade a fantasy win for a real life win... I think my luck in fantasy is Karma for my team name, I don't think I can post it.

6 yards.... Really people...

I think the ugliest thing I saw was that Harbaugh seemed to put the biggest amount of blame on Timmy Jernigan for the fumble he had in the red zone and I saw someone else back up that claim that it cost the Ravens the game.

Really? Getting negative rush yards in the third and going 2-8 on third down in the second half wasn't the biggest reason? Not scoring a damn touchdown and throwing two interceptions wasn't the biggest reason? Color me surprised.

Stick a fork in us. AFC North is super disappointing this year.

Not for me.  I am not waiting another whole year just to 'see what happens'.   That's what browns do.

We need to win games.  Its not over yet.  We still have AFCN on our hands.

I'm with you if he indeed mostly blames Jernigan. Jernigan simply attempted to help his team that needed help. Bad things happen to bad teams. Perhaps the defense shouldn't have been on the field at that point. The offense had the ball under 24 minutes vs over 36 minutes for the 2-5 Jets. That's ugly!

Did correa play today?

He played 30 snaps.  I've got details on all the LB deployment, which was extremely thin in my podcast on the defense:

https://audioboom.com/posts/5202381-locked-on-ravens-10-24-standard-of-expectations?t=0

John Harbaugh also failed to challenge an 11-yard misspot of the football following the blocked FG that set up the Ravens final drive.  That had me screaming at the game.  After the block was unreturned past the LoS, it should have been returned to the spot of the kick (the 41), but instead, the officials spotted the ball where it rolled out of bounds (the 30).

It's bad for Harbaugh and his staff to allow that to go unchallenged the same week he lambasted Jernigan for his fumble return, which required  very specific knowledge of the safety/impetus rules.  Details here:

From Ravens transcripts of interviews after the game:

Harbaugh:

On Timmy Jerniganicon-article-link.gif fumbling after a fumble recovery…

Yeah, you’ve got to stay in the end zone there and he knows that. That’s not one where you bring it out. You’re not a ball- carrier. It was a huge play in the game and, obviously, it was a difference in the game. We’re going for a field goal at the end and not a touchdown. Those are the kinds of things that are costing us games and those are the kinds of things that have to stop.

Jernigan:

On whether he thought he could pick up Matt Forté’s fumble and put the Ravens’ offense in better field position…

That’s what I thought, but from now on I don’t care if I have 100 yards in front of me with no one in front of me, I’ll fall on the ball just to make everybody happy. Everybody stays happy that way.

If Harbaugh had simply said: "It was a very costly fumble.  It probably cost us the game.  Timmy's got to practice better ball security."

that would have been infinitely better than what he did say, which is questioning the decision to bring the ball out.  Harbaugh also happens to be wrong about Jernigan's decision (see the article linked above for details on why), which compounds his error.

I think it's also pretty clear from Jernigan's response that Harbaugh's tongue lashing didn't make a lot of sense to him.
