He's a 2 gap nt whose primary responsibility is stopping the run.  He's one of the top 3-4 NT in the league

He's not suppose to be explosive, he's suppose to stop the run and seeing that we currently have the #1 Run Defense in the league I think Williams is doing a fine job.

Sapp numbers? He was brought in to stop the run, nobody is really running on us. Seems like he's doing the job

 

If we keep it funky, this is by far the best defense I've seen on the field since 2012 IF, IF not better. Offense has blown most of the games, are we going back to the Ravens of old? lol

This thread just goes to show that even the best players on this team relative to their position aren't above criticism from fans lol.

Top run defense. NT is the most critical part of a strong run defending 3-4. And even on tape he's done well and it's not hard to see. Youd be hard pressed to name a NT better than him. He controls the whole interior and oftentimes dictates where the run goes. Watch the game, not the ball.

I would definitely rather that than this alternating sucking by the three units lol. At least that was a source of pride for us having one of the best, if not, the top defense in the league. Been hard pressed to be proud of them for a long time. Even when we won in 2012, we had like the 26th ranked defense.

injuries had a lot to do with the slide of the defense in 2012, during the playoffs that did what they had to do....just like they always have. And the defense was actually closer to the 12-14 rank. Not sure where you got that low number from

If you're comparing B.Williams to a young Ngata , a physical freak of an athlete for his size then nope Williams isn't explosive. 

B.Williams has more than done his job all year, he takes on multiple blockers throughout the game, cluttering up the inside. 

B.Williams is a classic NT, in the mode of a T.Washington & S.Adams he does a lot of grunt work that goes unnoticed, unseen and frankly unappreciated by most fans. 

Now I can't lie a part of me wishes, his play was a little off for contract purposes only lol

Lol it be like that one Game day thread, everyone was commenting losing their minds then poof .  Just crashed disappeared.

LOL, I remember that day. It was totally insane on that thread. At first, I just thought they shut it down because of the craziness going on but later a Mod explained the crash.

No, it shows that some fans don't even understand positions or purposes of some of the best players on our team...

The only reason Brandon Williams won't be here next year is because he will be too expensive and we have Michael Pierce backing him up. Brandon Williams is one of the best NT's in the league, however.

i love brandon williams but i hope we don't overpay him. i don't like the idea of paying a premium for a nt when we could make a splash in free agency for other positions.
