[News] Eisenberg: Sunday Not A 'Must Win,' But Ravens REALLY Need To Beat Jets

42 posts in this topic

I think this is a must win, as the Ravens best and perhaps only shot is winning the division since the AFCN looks to be unusually down.  I can't count on the Bungles staying down, and Ben may only miss a few games.  Get a conference win against the Jets, use the Bye to get everyone healthy and get this offense re-oriented, and come out in the second half as a new team.

If I may, please let me opinionated something, I love the Ravens but I happened to be very critical of them, I do always want them to do well, a lot of the fans and posters on here hates me, I hate the Steelers and Patriots, I don't smoke my spinach like some of you express, of course I cannot force you to like my posts, we live in reality, the Ravens are not doing well, not like all the hypes in the preseason, we train hard and when the season starts the players all all tired or injured, the coaches are all looking for someone to blame, I'm hoping that they win todays game, both the Jets and Ravens are pretty evenly match up but on the field the Ravens will lose again, I've notice that most of the posters are saying the same things now that I've been saying for the last few years, they have become like me, very critical of the Ravens because we want them to do well, we have trade away some great proven players that we should have kept over the years, again I'll say that the Ravens season will end today if it hasn't already so GOOD LUCK to you all and am hoping the Ravens can salvage whatever game they have left this season, I only see them barely beating the Browns in November and that's it

By John's definition for what a "must win" is, you won't end up with a must win game until you are facing your 6th or 7th loss ... meaning, you then are putting yourself in a position to run the table afterwards. Can we not look at a schedule and see when that scenario is virtually impossible and therefore declare a must win game well in advance of taking that last loss you can afford to take?

IMO, we are at a place where taking a 4th loss now realistically indicates a 9-7 season at best. Losing games like some of the one's we've already lost (particularly the Redskins at home) create situations where later in the season, extremely difficult games become "must win" games by the strict definition. We've already put ourselves in a tough spot, so to lose today creates yet another game we must win down the road that will likely prove infinitely more difficult than today's match.

So - call today's game whatever you want to call it. No matter the term you use ... if we lose today, our chances of being a playoff team drop - dramatically.

If the Ravens can't beat the Jets, then what does that say about them being a team that can get to the playoffs? It would be the 4th consecutive loss heading into a bye week and two conference losses. After the bye they will face teams a lot better than the jets. It is definitely a must win.

Eisenberg is such a blind homer.

Not too long ago, a Ravens team went 5 straight games without scoring a TD on offense....

Not too long ago, no way a Ravens team is going to beat Tom Brady at home, then beat Peyton Manning at home and then beat the #1 defense in the league, those teams are a lot better......

I guess everyone thought the Panthers would be one of the worst teams in the league and the Vikings would be better than everyone....Long season, anything can happen.

The experts said the Raven were not a very good team, I didn't want to believe it, now I do. Two weeks in a row the secondary could not tackle a receiver on a short pass, it's not Odell Beckham. Again we have another head coach in Leslie Frazier. Why so many coaching retreads? Doesn't Harbough know any other way to build a coaching staff. These are coaches have failed elsewhere.

Please get some offense linemen who can block, commit too many holding and stupid penalties. We let a precious commodity get away, in Osemele. Thank god for Mike Wallace, glad he's on our team, he killed us as a Steeler.

At the end of the year, all the coaches need to be evaluated, with some being given pink slip. Bring in some aggressive young talent.

This is a "must win". Look at the schedule. Find me 7 more wins with 9 to go....

We are not going to win very many games based on the schedule. The Ravens at another high first round pick. We are making a quarterback who was benched last week looking like an all-pro. COACHING, COACHING, COACHING. Dean Pees should start packing his bags.

It's not looking good for a win against the Jets. Hope we make some adjustments at half time. Where is the blitz, we play scared, hoping not lose. Lets get Aggressive.

I think if you look back at the Superbowl wins you'll notice one consistent facet that is and has been absent from this team for some time.  The Ravens ALWAYS had a target (reliable) on 3rd downs.  Remember the amazing "drive-continuing" plays we had with Anquan Boldin?  Whether it be with Derrick Mason (years ago) or Steve Smith or Boldin (during our Superbowl year) these guys had a knack for being tough, strong hands, committed and ran routes that didn't matter because all you had to do was toss it to them and they kept drives alive.  We don't have that and it has had a huge impact and is a complete game changer to this team.  Until we have that one player that no matter what can keep drives alive, we will always and continue to not convert on 3rd downs which has a devastating impact on the entire team; meaning it keeps our defensive units out there too long and wears us down.
