[News] Late For Work 10/21: Ravens-Jets Predictions For A Game Baltimore Can't Afford To Lose

36 posts in this topic

The transition form Ray Lewis and Ed Reed was bigger than Ozzie and Harbs could have imagined. With two Hall of Famers on the team; mediocre player played well above the abilities. We picked from the bottom of the draft many years and the lack of talent is starting to catch up with us. We will need some luck in this years draft and some quality day one FA to get things turned around. The team also needs a more aggressive Defensive coordinator. Pees is good at what he does to the teams detriment.

The last eight years or so years of drafts have been brutal. Yanda, Mosely, and say B Williams and Jimmy Smith. Who is on the roster as a true REAL IMPACT PLAYER? A lot of these over hyped picks can't even get on the field or if they can they have fallen into the JAG category. JUST ANOTHER GUY. There are plenty of those roster fillers on most of the mediocre to bad teams. We as fans tend to join the hype. Urban is a "presence". Waller will "create" mismatches. Carl Davis is a "player". Arthur Brown has a "high motor". KC is "relentless".
Sometimes you just have to hear what you Don't want to hear to get better. No exception here.

Man - how do you predict this matchup? Two teams looking pretty dysfunctional at the moment. We've been maddening, but I don't know that we've looked quite as dreadful as the Jets did last week ... but really does it matter? We just seem like a team that can go out and give hope to a hopeless team.

I'll be the homer and say the Jets will turn the ball over 3 times in their own territory and we'll capitalize on one with a TD, kick FGs on the others and muster 2 scoring drives on our own - both FGs. In keeping with tradition, we'll be holding on for dear life at the end and this time, the Jets offense will simply be too inept to have our defense yield another game deciding score to finish out the game.

Ravens 19 Jets 16

This prediction makes the bold statement that this week we won't manage to get to the threshold of Tucker's range and then implode with penalties or other stupidities. It is sad when your team's MVP is a kicker ... its even sadder when you find yourself in a position to use him and then punt after making a series of offensive gaffes.

If we lose to the Gino Smith lead Jets I will feel worse than any time last season. And last season was rock bottom.

This will be another real nail biter of a game this week. We always let a team who's doing poorly at something, do well at it against us. I can't imagine how the players are feeling right now. If you think they were expected to play well before, just think what losing this game would mean. Talk about "must win".
If we were to lose this game somehow, we'll have 9 more guys on the injury list just from severely hurt feelings! :-)

Sooner or later this team is going to turn it around and start playing very good ball. The Jets portray nothing that says it can't happen this week. This is a must win AFC match that we can not overlook or take for granted. I have no doubts that our boys can put a whooping on the Jets.

just saying, I don't understand all the jumping to conclusions by these pundits about Flacco not being able to play Sunday because he's missed 2 practices?? Harbaugh said himself in a press conference the other day that Flacco wouldn't have to practice to play -- he's a nine-year vet its not like missing two days of walk throughs is going to make or break his ability to play. What's more concerning is that they wont release details about the MRI as to whether its a tear, separation, sprain, bruise, etc. Is it because something is structurally wrong and they are trying to keep it under wraps? Hopefully its just like they said -- nothing to worry about.

By now if you have followed the Ravens at all you must know they never ever tell the truth about injuries. They think by lying about
injuries they are fooling their opponents. They do say most of the
time it is no big deal then the player misses 3,4 or 5 games. It is
just ridiculous. My children could do better.

You people have to know, unless you live under a rock, it is against the law for anyone, any company or any organization to divulge personal medical details of any person, right? The HIPAA law says they can't. In the case of the Ravens with players injuries, they can say there is a injury, the location of the injury and maybe a little generalization of the type of injury but, can not expand on the details of that injury.

That's why Harbs is always saying things like "he has something with his shoulder" or "there is a thing with the foot". He, by law, can't get anymore detailed than that or risk himself and/or the organization to lawsuits.
