Domestic violence is an important issue in a sport that keeps putting $ above dealing with the issue...I wouldn't have minded SS putting Josh on IR, taste of his own medicine they call it ?

Brandon Marshal and Sheldon Richardson got into a heated argument. I liked Florio's take above "John Harbaugh is spending the next three days praying no one breaks Geno Smith's jaw before they play the Jets."

We must win this game, but we lost must win games the last 3 times we suited up, 2 at home and 1 away against average to sub-par teams. So, we'll just have to wait and see if we can get a W at long last. If Flacco is unable to suit up, it might add a spark to have Ryan Mallett start at QB this week. Last year he performed reasonably well in the final weeks. But, to go into this game expecting a W is foolish based on how we're performing and coaching.

It really matters not whether the Ravens win or lose against the Jets. They have already lost any chance with their lackluster performances against the last three teams, all of which are bad. After the break, the Ravens will be lucky to be competitive against much tougher opponents. They may have lucked out with Baby Ben out, but unlike the Ravens, the Steelers are a team that doesn't make excuses for injuries. They go out and kick peoples behinds. As long as Harbaugh is coach and Newsome is picking mediocre talent with high draft picks, the Ravens are doomed to be where they are.

"Packers just went for it on 4th-and-goal from the 1 vs. Bears. Ran it and stopped just short. See, the Ravens aren't the only ones."

Ryan, what exactly are you trying to prove with this? How does the Packers' decision change anything?

Yeah, you might as well give up watching them play dude...at least then we wouldn't have to hear all those doom and gloom projection's you've been spouting every day.

These Raven's are so horrible that they should just move the team to Vegas, cause they will never be a good team again, never mind they've won two super bowls, that's all in the past and were probably some kind of mysterious flukes anyways...

And yeah, might as well try to lose games. That will teach Ozzie and Harbs...unlike those Squeelers, who like you say, never ever complain about anything and are the shining beacons of how a real football team plays! Wow, some people might confuse you with being a fan of theirs, lucky we know better,eh?

just saying, I don't understand all the jumping to conclusions by these pundits about Flacco not being able to play Sunday because he's missed 2 practices?? Harbaugh said himself in a press conference the other day that Flacco wouldn't have to practice to play -- he's a nine-year vet its not like missing two days of walk throughs is going to make or break his ability to play. What's more concerning is that they wont release details about the MRI as to whether its a tear, separation, sprain, bruise, etc. Is it because something is structurally wrong and they are trying to keep it under wraps? Hopefully its just like they said -- nothing to worry about.

By now if you have followed the Ravens at all you must know they never ever tell the truth about injuries. They think by lying about
injuries they are fooling their opponents. They do say most of the
time it is no big deal then the player misses 3,4 or 5 games. It is
just ridiculous. My children could do better.

Well yeah most of the time it is gamesmanship involved. And they dont have any requirement to tell us fans every little detail about an injury anyway. I  would rather them keep that in- house anyway and we will find out when the game is played.

Flacco taking 2 practices off makes sense too me, rather than being "alarming". Rest the injured shoulder to be ready for Sunday rather than throw in practice. In his 9th year, missing a weeks practice shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure he's still at the facility everyday: rehabbing, healing and doing meetings and walk through.

LOL, the Ravens aren't making any excuses, only the fans. Just as the Steelers don't make excuses, only their fans. As for Harbs and Oz, they've done far better than most NFL teams in the past 8 years, and in some instances, that includes the Steelers.

Yeah I don't think he needs the 'experience' of practicing. He's got the experience. I'd think tho that he needs to throw some to test if there's any pain when throwing, and see the accuracy of the throws, especially deep passes...things like that. I'd really love it if he played...but truly if it's best he doesn't...I say take the bye and get 100% come back game 8. I'm NOT for Mallett replacing him I don't think we are even close to a Dak-Romo type scenario lol.

If we lose to one of the worst teams in the NFL who are even worse with Geno Smith at QB this will get real ugly. My concern is the Jets were embarrassed on national v and any road game is a tough game. Just reference the Steelers at Miami last week.

Embarrassed Team + Road Game = LOSS

Need the W bad this week, and will likely need to win the division to make the playoffs. Both are very do-able, especially as many of these injured guys should return in the second half and the offense will (hopefully) gel.

If not, we'll need some high draft picks to replace the aging vets, most of whom are our playmakers and who have been most prone to injury recently.

We also need a complete overhaul on the offensive scheme as this has been a horrible mash-up of a run-oriented, play action passing, zone blocking Kubiak system with Trestman's (and Marty's) west-coast, dink and dunk, pass-intensive, shotgun-oriented system. There is no consistent identity, from the blocking schemes to the formations to the routes to the play calls.

The silver lining.....We lose this game to the Geno Smith lead Jets we can start projecting who we will pick with our top 10 draft choice. We can NOT afford a lose to this terrible team.

Go away little boy and spread your venom somewhere else. The Ravens will still be standing when Ben happens to complete a full season. Go Ravens.

My son went to WVU at the same time as Geno Smith and we saw him in a couple games there. He is not to be underestimated. As I recall, he had a very Tyrod-ish run game. Didn't watch him much as a Jet, though. Of course, since he took that shot in the mouth last year he might be a little shy about taking hits like a running back.

The tarnishing on that silver lining- it doesn't matter who we pick b/c there's about a 80-90% chance he'll go down with a significant injury. Stanley has missed half of this season, Perriman missed all of last season, and Elam missed most of the games he was supposed to play. Unfortunately, Mosley is the only healthy 1st round pick we've had in the last 4 years (and the only one who has lived up to his first round potential).

But on a positive note- we've got the NFL's best guard and a superb kicker.

Sooo... why did the Steelers get their butts kicked by the DOLPHINS when Big Ben was in and out with an injury?? Yea, youre right they dont make excuses, because there is no excuse for getting blown out by the Dolphins.

We have several key players out and took 3 teams that are MUCH better than the Dolphins to the death. Oakland is a very good team (2nd best record in AFC), Washington is now 4-2 btw and just beat a good Eagles team, and yes the Giants stink but we were way undermanned once Jimmy and Suggs went down.

Dumbest point ever. Steelers have been BLOWN OUT in 2 games to lesser opponents. We've had 3 super close losses. Out 3 losses combined were by less than just one of the Steelers losses. And now without Ben, they may fall to 4-3, 4-4, maybe even 4-5 before he gets back. And we could be 4-3, 5-3, or 6-3 by that time.

The transition form Ray Lewis and Ed Reed was bigger than Ozzie and Harbs could have imagined. With two Hall of Famers on the team; mediocre player played well above the abilities. We picked from the bottom of the draft many years and the lack of talent is starting to catch up with us. We will need some luck in this years draft and some quality day one FA to get things turned around. The team also needs a more aggressive Defensive coordinator. Pees is good at what he does to the teams detriment.

it would be really nice if "Quick Hits" was big enough to read without a magnifying glass.

Yeah lol...I squint for a second trying to read it...then think "better not I'll get wrinkles doing this."

Man - how do you predict this matchup? Two teams looking pretty dysfunctional at the moment. We've been maddening, but we've not looked quite as dreadful as the Jets did last week ... but does it really matter? We just seem like a team that can go out and give hope to a hopeless team.

I'll be the homer and say the Jets will turn the ball over 3 times in their own territory and we'll capitalize on one with a TD, kick FGs on the others and muster 2 scoring drives on our own - both FGs. In keeping with tradition, we'll be holding on for dear life at the end and this time, the Jets offense will simply be too inept to have our defense yield a game deciding score.

Ravens 19 Jets 16

This prediction makes the bold statement that this week we won't manage to get to the threshold of Tucker's range and then implode with penalties or other stupidities. It is sad when your team's MVP is a kicker ... its even sadder when you find yourself in a position to use him and then punt after making a series of offensive gaffes.

Nice post. We are sooooooo inept at passing. You'd think, with a strong-armed QB like FLacco, we'd at least try to push the ball downfield. 6 or whatever yards per attempt is last in the league. Does not add up (make sense). THROW THE BALL !!!!!!!! Right?
