[News] Elvis Dumervil Has No Timetable For Return

Agreed, hate to say it, but I both he and Suggs are pretty much done by now - they can't stay healthy, and it takes too long for them to recover. Turn the young studs loose.

Does anyone know what this secretive procedure that was done. Also what kept Stanley out ? and what's up with Yanda.

My guess is that it was a surgery to help treat a stress fracture in the foot.

Yanda has had multiple surgeries on his shoulders over the years so he will always have some sort of issue with them the rest of his career.

I heard Stanley has a toe issue (don't quote me on that) and Dumervil has a tendon issue near his ankle. Again Its just a rumor I heard.

Some of the young guys need to step up. Can't count on Dumerville this season. If he comes back great, if not we need the next guys in Suggs' and Dumerville's positions.

Get well soon Elvis need that motivation on the sidelines for the youngsters whom will step their game up as the season goes on! We should be 5-1 and that would have overshadowed all the other issues which are no biggie in my book! Because like I said we should be 5-1 because the Defense are in the top 5 and we had chances to win! When can the Offense take up the slack like the Defense has done since 1996?!

Considering he had the entire offseason to recover and then again about 1,5 months to recover after his setback in training camp, and still could not get to 100%, what makes the coaches think he can recover fully with the remaining 2 months and 1 week?

I'm afraid Doom will never be the same kind of explosive player he was before the procedure. At some point and age, human body just won't regain the same kind of muscular capability it once had. Especially after surgical intervention. Even though it can happen, like with SSS (which makes his recovery even more impressive), nothing is given full recovery wise beyond certain age (which can differ for every person).

I think if he does not show any major signs of improvement by the end of bye, put him on the IR and give one of the returning young players a shot. Let Doom take the year to give rest to his foot and reflect. If he feels he still has the drive and physical capability, we can always use him as a rotational player next year. But his days as a full time starter are probably over.

Too late in the season to IR him with the plan to have him return (plus they probably wanted to use that option on Elam anyway). It's a real shame he came back for that final week of TC, otherwise he would have been eligible for PUP and could have just rested up at his leisure without tying up a roster spot and aggravating his injury.

The problem is most of the young studs have been young duds.

Take the last game as example. Suggs had 1 sack, 2 QH & 4 pressures before he went out. The entire rest of the D generated 9 pressures for the game. That's sad!

This guy needs to retire. Since he been here he started 21 games out of 54 games. I call this the Web syndrome and it seem contagious.

Looks like it is time for "Elvis to leave the building" for good to me. He did well for a couple of years and now it is time to step off and realize that it is his time to take the next step in his life. These guys have a very hard time realizing that the end has come and so has that big paycheck.
